I just started my 2007 xr650r today and rode it for the first time in about 8 months. Started on the second kick. Been thinking of selling it since I don't ride much anymore in my mid 50's although I've always loved those bikes. I had the first xr600R which was the 85, and now the last 650R which was 2007. Of course they still make the 650L, I think they need to bring the R back. Maybe a 700R.

Absolutely love my XR650R and I'm not alone. I was hurrying home one afternoon last summer after a long weekend of moto-camping and bombing down fire roads in the Uinta mountains when I blew past a parked cop while doing 55 in a 35. He caught up with me at the next stop light, but instead of pulling me over and issuing a speeding ticket, he pulled alongside me and gave me a smile and a thumbs-up. So many good times on the XRR. She can do it all. Desert, mountains, highway. What a beast.
This makes me feel so pumped to own a 2000 xr650r! I loved the last two dyno videos on these you have too. I was hoping you’d talk about no electric start and all kick baby, with decompression lever if you want. Great video!
Can you guys give it the manic mechanic treatment, build it up and convert it to EFI? these things are so rare id love to see some performance work done one of them and what their potentials are.
I just got a very low milage one yesterday, completely original too. Original tank fenders seat etc and all in nearly mint condition. I'm stoked!
