She didn't place in top 5 the year before but won the next year, that says a lot of how hard and dedicated she was to be the very best to win the title and crown, great job ! She was definitely the best this year! Loved her talent!

@@drewwilliams3079 Missy Hurdle 1991 was a great example of 1st twice 89 and 90 and then she finally was crowned and beyond that the only one between 89 and. 92 to make top 10 and finish 4th at Miss America.
I often wonder how Ika Taylor would have done at Miss America? Just putting that out there. With more polish and coaching in other areas besides talent. Reminds me a lot of Marjorie Judith Vincent. In appearance. I always root for the random newcomer or the sleeper like Cherry Busby or Kandace Williams as opposed to those that return year after year. Sometimes that works like for Missy Hurdle and Kari Litton but not always for return contestants. I think if u were returning you really had to reinvent yourself in order to win and not expect to win just because you paid your dues. And no offense to returning contestants as many were and are good friends and are very talented and beautiful.
After watching this multiple times, Holder is most definitely a stronger opera singer than Hurdle, love them both, but Holder is just so strong with her vocals.

Yes her talent was so strong! She was a preliminary talent winner at Miss America and NFTalent Winner

Laura Williams was 1st runner up in 1992 and 1993. Amy Showalter was 2nd runner up 3years in row 1991, 1992 and 1993.
I only can go back to far but I have found that 1st alt is not as good as 2cd. 2cd means come back. at least in most cases.
