One of the best looking bikes ever made. All of the SRAD style Suzuki sprotbikes from that era are great, but there is something extra special about this V-twin.
Sweet, I have just bought one identical.. a ‘99 with Yoshi cans and 15k miles & full service history. It was delivered yesterday, and I am all over it & ignoring my other bikes 😄👍🏼
Nice, I was exactly like you saw one when I was 15 and wanted one ever since. 2 bikes and 14 years later picked one up (not in as good condition as yours) spent 1 1/2 years restoring it and absolutely love it.
I have the exact same bike since 2011. Swaped out the rotary damper for a Bitubo shock, put a Barnett clutch in and added a set of Kaneg rear-set pegs and controls. Still one of my favourite steeds.
I got one in 2010 and did it up. Tore it apart over a winter. CBR600F2 rear shock, direct mount and did the TL1000S cable clutch among many other mods. I saw the TL at the Motorcycle show in Manhattan in 1999 and was crazy about them.
Kurt Spieles I probably saw you at the Jacob G. Center in Manhattan in 1999! I fell in love with the blue/white TL they had on display, spent almost 3 hours in the Suzuki area and still have 4 photos sitting on the TL
I had a ‘99 TLR exactly like yours that I bought brand new in 1999. As of 2013, I no longer own it. It’s a long story with that bike beginning the day I bought it.
I have one which i am in the process of restoring at the moment as well including a custom paint job.... good luck with your restoration. I will checking in to see how your doing
That noise gives me a chubby every time i start it. Best part is i have a tunnel not far from me. You better believe every single time i go through it the clutch comes in and the RPMs go up. Side note: the mennonite girls seem to love it. Not sure what thats about.
Congrats on finding your TL. I too had wanted one of these ever since I was a kid and finally found a '99 in the blue and white(best color combo in my opinion)...enjoy it and NEVER sell it! And get that rear tire painted back white lol ride safe bro
Nice bike... AWESOME BIKE ACTUALLY !!! Nothing makes an entrance like a TLR... The sound of the downshift to the stop.. its comfortable.. and oh the torque!
And the "wobble of the head" when try a bit of "knock" it down "chuck" it in "scrag" it out balls to the wall ride the wheels off elbow to elbow toe to toe in the zone racing ......in slow out faster (a wee bit) roll it on not crack it open ....best for this old girl even with a "Gixxer" front end ....if still want to push can try Maxton engineering see if any old stock "bits n bobs" to help.
just picked up one much..much worse than this two weeks ago. Trying to get it up and about. I had a Tl1000S back in the day. My youngest was 2-3 years old today he's 20. I laid the TLS down racing three times so I went to dirt. in 2015, I got back on the street on a Yamaha BOLT. Still have it. TL is a project to sell maybe. Your bike looks mint compared to my TL 1999
How are you getting on with this project Andrew? I have one just like yours. Great fun for touring on and such a unique character. I love the wealth of information around the web on these bikes and so many cheap mods you can play with. Don't that sound stir the soul?
That’s a sweet bike! Does anyone know how comfortable it would be for someone that’s 6’2”? I found one on CL that is a 2000 for $2k with 11,500 miles on it. It’s yellow with purple flames and yellow/tan seats; definitely going to need some different fairings and seats. It’d be rad if you made a how to with fixing the problems on your bike.
Hey bro, idk if you got your hands one yet but to answer ya question, I'm 6'2 or 3 at 285lbs and yes it's smooth and comfortable plus not to mention it rides with no hesitation...
Have fun with it and check tlplanet.com out for helpful tips... Been where you was 8 years ago and alot of things on this bike can be easily improved. Just need to know how and what.. It's all there… Keep vids coming… You gonna love this bike... :-)
LONG LIVE THE TLR! but really you had a cream puff. I had to replace the engine, rebuild the forks, fix the abortion of a wiring harness, tig weld the clutch slave cylinder mount because the chain broke and well you know the rest, still deciding what i want to do about the fairings. I have a unique idea i shant be talking about in such an open forum. But shit man ive done all that and more and yours was already nicer. 1st world problems lemme tell ya. Lol.

I love the TL1000R. The big V twin sounds amazing. I love a big V twin sports bike.

Good Luck on your TLR, I have vids posted under TLR Dude.
Thanks!
mark fagan any good for a 6’2 height and 105kg person for only transport?
yes very good, you might want to change the bars they are a bit low for riding around town. no wheelies or pub hopping.
