This 2018 KTM 250 XC-W TPI has been running great in the desert. One of the reasons that I have gravitated toward the XC line in the KTM lineup is because I end up riding a fair amount of wide open deserts along with the tighter alpine single track here in Utah and the surrounding areas. The XC gearing just lends itself a little better to those types of terrain. Riding this XC-W, which is geared more toward the tight single track terrain, has reminded me that the W line can also do the desert just fine. You have to get used to the gaps between 2nd and 3rd gear, and realize that you will almost never use 1st gear for more than a nanosecond. Other than that, the bike has performed flawlessly for me in the desert.
Even the Xplor 48 forks are doing just fine for me in the whoops that I encounter out in the desert. Overall, this is a great bike. I have a feeling that KTM will bring the TPI 300 XC-W to the US later this year for the 2019 models and guys will be flocking to those like the Salmon of Capistrano, but you shouldn’t overlook the 250. It’s a great bike and my personal preference right now just because of how the motor revs a bit quicker and a bit more feely than the 300s do.

I have a 2019 250 xc-w-tpi and love it.This is the first dirtbike I have had since 1978. I was a Harley guy since then till medical reasons made me sell them. So I bought a KTM dirt bike instead. Much lighter, and it great. Now I have got to learn how to ride pretty much all over again. Love your channel.
By far my goto channel for some inspiring dirt bike fun. It’s like my Saturday morning truck shows on spike before the kids get up with a nice warm cup of coffee.

Todd Orchard ahh. Yeah. That’s the chimney rock area. That’s part of the network of trail south of the road that winds westward through the canyon.

can you pull out the plug and show it to your viewers? the bike seems to always sound a hair on the lean side to me.
The TPI ones are reported to be too lean and run into early wear signs on the engine because of it.

I know that you are a KTM only guy, and I know you typically only ride 2strokes... however, I’d love it if you reviewed a 2018 crf450rx. I haven’t seen too many reviews beyond magazines and I’d love to hear your opinion. Let me know if you can.
Hey Ben, if you think I'm a KTM only guy, you haven't seen that many of my videos:) I have done Beta, Yamaha, Husky, and Sherco in the past. I'll probably do the Honda CRF 450RX this year.
Dirt Bike Channel Hah, yes, I guess I should have clarified... I don’t mean to say you only ride ktm and 2strokes, rather that you prefer them more often then not when comparing the other bikes you’ve ridden. Didn’t mean it as disrespect if that is how it came across, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Either way, good to hear, I’ll be waiting for the 450rx..

What's the difference between the xc and exc bikes
Xc has the AER forks and linkage and different gearing. Xcw and excf have xplor fork and PDS rear. Exc has headlight and and blinkers
