I love lyrical analysis! It’s so fun. It’s important not to make assumptions about the artist based on lyrics, as well as accepting differing opinions/interpretations of the work. But lyrical analysis is so fun. It reminds me of literature class. Andrew’s lyrics are poetry as it is, so really, it’s a literary discussion when analyzing his lyrics.
“However you can, stand up and sing.” - Phyllis Guth From a poem in a collection called “Home Truths” by Ryan Guth. I think of that poem when I hear “To Noise Making (Sing)” I’ll be looking up “At the Well Head” now.
I think in the song “To Noise Making (Sing)” that the lyrics are different than your list says toward the end. I might be wrong though. I think it says, “Who could ask you be unbroken or be brave again? Or honey hope even on this side of the grave again?” I agree with the first FB respondent’s interpretation of the lyrics though! It’s one of my favorite lyrics on the new album.
“Watching still living roots be consumed by the flame” has to be my favorite lyric in that song. The imagery is absorbing!

The story from the person who is starting therapy soon really resonated with me. I’m so glad those lyrics reached them in time. Hang in there!

“Would That I” has very intense lyrics. I love it.
This has to be my favorite podcast ever.
