      Explaining the amount of confidence and miseducation some people have, in themselves and their "preferences" or "beliefs" over others, can be very difficult, sometimes.
      I just saw tiktok of a young Asian woman, responding to a comment on a previous post, which said something about being more grateful for the white people who invented her iphone. I wish I could link it, because her response was exemplary in explaining how different people, of different ethnicities, invented different technologies, in different eras, that all led to the "invention" of our phones. How history is taught to, at the least, puff some people up as if their people were the only heroes, if not also ignore or remove the histories of "others", to continue their superiority complex.
      We're seeing it again, with the "who cares??" folk, who still don't want to acknowledge the significance of this moment, for Asian history, film history, and human history.

    • @blah4151
      @blah4151 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You have to aware of the time period in which stuff like that happened. Society had way less celebrities back in the day and name recognition was one of the most important factors when casting stars. So back then you would see movies casting the same handful of actors over and over again. You check out some actors filmographies and you'll see them be in multiple movies released in a very small time frame. It created a vicious cycle that prevented other actors from getting big roles. This also effected POC but I won't say racism was the only factor or a non-factor. If you were to make a movie at the time and wanted it to make a profit, would you cast the guy named Jing Pei that no one has ever heard of or are you gonna cast the dude that was in seven box office smashers? If you go further back in time you'll also remember that white dudes played the female roles in Shakespeare plays.
      So over time we have progressed as a society when it comes to properly representing people when telling stories. Good movies, shows, whatever will always get acknowledged regardless of who is in them.

When James walked in, to a room with about four fat guys and two other nerds, I was starstruck because I recognized him from Big trouble in little China,. An hour later after listening to him speak. I think he is the most bestest, personality I've ever had the pleasure of sharing air with ❤

    You may wonder why it took until now to get James Hong a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
    But had it not been for the success of "Everything Everywhere" James might still NOT get a star.
    That's the hard reality of Hollywood for you.
    This man has prob experienced the dirtiest form of Racism in Hollywood for decades, but he's not writing a tell all bc he believes in being dignified even tho some have not been dignified towards him.
    He's long overdue !

    Having Mark Wahlberg present this award was DISGUSTING. He literally attacked and blinded an Asian man (he also viciously attacked a Black man & almost killed him) & having Mark present this in order to try to clear his name was repulsive. Most of us will never forget the deplorable things that people like Mark Wahlberg and Jon Hamm have done!!

      Was thinking the same thing watching him present this. Wonder if it was intentional at all. Hollywood really needs to stop talking out of both sides of their mouth, can’t champion diversity in one breath while letting people with sordid racist pasts walk around as “movie stars”

    • @laniewebb2551
      @laniewebb2551 ปีที่แล้ว

      THIS 🎯 why tf is mark wahlberg not cancelled already. Disgusting

    • @FLQueerLiberal1982
      @FLQueerLiberal1982 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@Pepperz543"sordid racist pasts..." Are people not allowed to mature and change? What he did was absolutely disgusting, but he was young... a kid - maybe not literally or physically, but might as well have been - certainly was a child mentally. If someone has shown themselves to not be that person or like that person anymore, and they've grown up, there's no reason to deny them such a career. I highly doubt the man - or at least doubt he still is - a racist, or someone prone to racial violence. Also, as a celebrity/movie star, he's used his fame for charitable causes and philanthropic endeavors. So his being a movie star, and the rewards it brings, has been beneficial to others.

    James Hong showed how Asians don't go whinging like blacks do. We do not ask for special treatment, nor expect them. We don't play "poor us". We had it bad, we were victims in the slave trade in the US too! But you will not hear or see us whinging about it!
