Thanks for the question! I do use fly traps but honestly they haven’t worked super well for us. I recently found a fly spray that’s supposed to be safe for the cows (citronella based spray, smells really good) that has helped a little bit as well but every couple days or after a rain it wears off. The truth is in this video it was very early in the morning and still really cool, so not much activity, but my mid day there were many more!
Thanks for the comment! And they all feel different! Ours each have slightly different hair types bc none of them are related, but they are very soft this time of year! Their winter coats have just shed for the most part and it has left nice short shiny smooth coats. We love petting ours! On our cows, mable has a rougher thicker coat, Rusty had a fluffy soft coat, and Prissy/Oreo both have very short smooth coats that are very pleasant!
There seems to be little to no flies around the cows. Do you use fly traps?

I've always wanted to pet a cow! What does it feel like? Is it as soft as they look?
