Watching Zach's WYYC 2015 performances, I feel like Gentry's style of really strictly playing to the beat has made a sort of revolution in how the competition plays out now. Look at Zach's 2015 semi finals performance, it uses the same technique of playing to the beat, and adds some massive tech too. No hate, it's just cool to see the scene evolving
Players always knew about this, you can see in 2010 Jensen Kimmitt did the same thing at different parts in his freestyle. I think Gentry kinda overdid it and it just looks bland to me, you can see he's really looking for points.
TheCookieCrusader What, because he structured a freestyle to the song he chose and made out fit the downbeats, in order to make a more interesting performance? If "yoyoers always knew about this" and "Gentry did it for points," then why didn't every other yoyoer who wanted to win do it all the time? Have you ever seen the score sheet for these contests? Music use counts, but not for a whole lot.
Some folks, for whatever reason, just can't wait to hate on Gentry, and I've still never figured out why.

Doing the speed combo with correct speed in 2:54 - 3:09 is my yoyo goal~!!!
Surprisingly it's not as hard as it looks, but to get it to his speed will take a little longer than other ones
