Mukul Joshi: This is the last portion of what is called Raaga, Taana and Pallavi. It is roughly equivalent to Alaap, Jhor and Gati or Khayal in North Indian style. South Indian musicians adapt to Raagamaalikaa much more than their north counterparts. Vaagadheeshwari is the 34th Raaga. A wonderful Raaga with multpile shades of emotions. What you hear is Pallavi. Yes, Shashank uses a string of Raagas in a fine mix; but emphasis is still with the base Raaga - Vaagadhishwari. His inimitable techniques makes the rendering so unique that no other instrument (not even voice) can follow its rhythms. That is Shashaank's contribution to music in general. If someone can post Raaga and Taana I would be greatful. Naga Narayana.

@mukul joshi It is very common Carnatic Music, where it is termed "ragamalika." Some compositions are set to many ragas; plus in "Ragam Thanam Pallavi" there is sometimes a portion of the swara improvisation in which the artist improvises in various ragas.

mukul joshi, this is very common during Ragam Tanam Pallavi in Carnatic music, towards the end to include other ragas( swaras) and end with the original raga he started with.

Wow, kudos to Darbar for featuring such a wide range of Indian Classical Music and in such fine quality. Kudos to Shashank ji and team for such a brilliant performance. However, I wish to disagree that he is an young Maestro. He is physically young but a legend in the art and one who has over three decades of experience akin to an artist in his sixties. It is very common Carnatic Music, where it is termed "ragamalika." Some compositions are set to many ragas; plus in "Ragam Thanam Pallavi" there is sometimes a portion of the swara improvisation in which the artist improvises in various ragas.

mukul joshi, this is very common during Ragam Tanam Pallavi in Carnatic music, towards the end to include other ragas( swaras) and end with the original raga he started with.

However, I wish to disagree that he is an young Maestro. He is physically young but a legend in the art and one who has over three decades of experience akin to an artist in his sixties.
