    About Me
    =============================
    I’m Fierceblooms, an artisan flower grower who creates “wild garden style” flower arrangements from a 19th Century Wharf and Cheshire canalside flower cutting garden in rural North West of England.
    I grow and arrange fresh and everlasting flower creations, influenced by each and every seasonal moment and the wild edges of the surrounding countryside.
    My hearts desire is for everyone to return to a more seasonal, scented and sustainable floral life.

    Excellent content. I dream of growing fresh cut flowers for florists. The information about color palates is valuable, I don't need to grow every beautiful color, grow what can be well used with many different colors. The need for more than amazing huge dinner plate size and form. I had already begun to learn about how to harvest for a lasting vase/bouquet life, but hearing it over again, and from the perspective of a designer helps to understand the reason for careful conditioning, starting with the cut. From Southern Virginia U.S.A. Thank you.

    Loved this video! Just about to have my dahlias bloom here in New Zealand.. Any tips on keeping earwigs out?

    • @fierceblooms
      @fierceblooms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw thank you 🙏 yes, have pots stuffed with newspaper upside down on canes - the earwigs will crawl into the pots overnight- I get rid of them in the morning 👍 simple and very very effective

      Always lift Sheelagh!!! I’m on sold clay and even if the winter weather isn’t too bad the soil is too cold and wet and my favourite ones never survive!!!!!

    Thanks for get info and advice. Any advice fr getting my stems longer? Is it the variety? or environment

    • @fierceblooms
      @fierceblooms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it is a variety thing- some are definitely longer than others- the trick is to cut lower down the stem - yes you loose some unopened flowers on some varieties but that’s why I talk about scale in the video - hope that helps

    When you use dahlias fresh from the garden in bouquets and arrangements, how do you get the bugs out of the petals? Spiders and earwigs like to hide out in the petals.

    • @fierceblooms
      @fierceblooms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in the past, I've used upside down jam jars filled with newspaper in the dahlia plots as a decoy trap, but to be honest this year I haven't had a problem - perhaps because the plants are very strong and healthy as Ive been feeding them regularly with a seaweed feed.
