Alot different than here in west TN, glad we don't have to worry about fire breaks. I bet you rest a lot better at night knowing you have one...very cool.

The berry vines are related to roses and have those lovely, hooked thorns. The berries make a good cobbler though. :)

I think those berry bushes are pretty much everywhere in the USA. They’re definitely in my area Ohio Pennsylvania. We call them black berries, they make great pie, jelly, jam and brandy. 👍🏼
Getting jabbed by those thorns ranks right up there with a yellow jackets or hornet stings.

Here's to hoping you don't need the fire breaks. But being from Northern California also always best to be prepared!!
I agree on making a big clearing by the transformer as that is where most fires in the last few years have started from!!!!! And the one time we had lightning this year, the lightning hit the transformer down the street, super loud and super scary.
We enjoy the channel and seeing you and Callie working together 🚜🙂

FTR, with all you have to do in the time you have and have to rember all types of things, you should keep a small folding note book for different things on a day to day basis and cross off accomplishments. Please don’t think that I believe your memory is not working. Making notes really helps keep track of things.

Plant thorns can be so painful, because they carry a triple whammy. First of course, the hole they poke. Second each pick pushes bacteria we all have on the skin, under it - causing inflammation and infection response. Third is many plants carry a chemical defense on their thorns to inflict more discomfort. It's part of nature's war between the Eater and the Eaten.
