Edina, when you golpe does any of your fingernail strike the guitar? Or just the fleshy pad? Do you keep your finger straight or allow it to bend?

Very good technique. I'm learning your lesson. Can i ask a question if I want to play golpe and since here in my country not so many favor this type of music I cant seem to find golpeador to protect the top of my guitar from hitting. So can I just use standard pickguard for folk/pop guitar instead?
+damoz hutagalung you can try. We used to glue plastic on the top and now I did not use one for a long time. Until I almost had a hole haha. But why don't you just order one from eBay? I think it is very cheap.

Sounds great! I'm curious, though - in the first example, what fingers are you using to strum the strings? Do you "flick" the guitar and then follow through so you play the strings with your pointer, or do you strike the guitar with your pointer while strumming with the other fingers? Thanks again!

your hand is in an open fist and you go down with all the fingernails and go up with your thumb fingernail.
I see, but do you use the same finger to strum that you are playing the golpe with? Or do you play the golpe with the A finger while strumming with the M and I?
I use the same finger, but I might try your version it might be easier that way. This is all a bit experimental anyway I think I just invented this Strumming.

+Hades Azander that should not hurt at all you must do something wrong. Mine does not hurt. I was thinking maybe you flick too hard if it is the first one but the ring finger should be straightforward

+rajeev degavekar I do not know about that. I guess you can experiment and see what works for you
You can still use the same technique but you wont be able to develop the same thick nylon string tone as the steel strings will wear you finger nails down...Check out these two guys: Tommy Emmanuel and Ewan Dobson
