I really enjoyed your breakdown of last year's makes. Your details on what went wrong, what you like, changes, goofs are all interesting and very nice. I just love your whole set up, production, clips, and pattern details. Sewing is in my family but I've only rudimentary skills as I've worked on social justice and trauma informed policies losing good useful skills. I'm barely back now to sewing my own mask pattern and hoping to relearn knitting (but this time european style). Love this and I'm a new fan. I'll be watching. Thanks.
I need that navy wool skirt! It’s so beautiful! If I saw your work in black and white stills, I would think you stepped straight out of the era. Amazing.
You are stunningly beautiful, that pin curl hair set really flatters you. You look like a brunette Marylin Monroe. That red christmas dress with the snowflakes is soooooo cute!
If you were platinum blonde, you would so much look like Marilyn Monroe. Your hair is fabulous! Holy cow that sarong-type dress from March is AMAZING. Perfect fit. PERFECT. And your husband's Hawaiian shirt! WOW!! I love those brown pants you're wearing with the green peasant blouse. AND she knits. Again...WOW. That little sweater you knitted is again, perfection. What a fit! The brown blouse & trousers...SENSATIONAL! I think the crotch being low is what makes them look authentic because if you look at the old movies (we only watch movies from the 1930s-1950s), women's trousers seemed to fit like that a lot. I think they were making sure to NOT draw the eye to the crotch area on women when we first started wearing trousers, so they made them a bit loose. I think they look fantastic. The Christmas dress & bolero is just delicious! I love how you added the three little snowflakes on back. I am so impressed with your skill and absolutely inspired. Thank you for this video. Coral-gold dress: Pretty! I have the hip bubble and back of skirt extra fabric issue also. There is an 11-in difference between my waist and hip, more than patterns are designed for-interesting idea of the grain being a problem. I think your idea of re-grading is a good one. I usually just pin fit a skirt after basting the side seams. I learned that from the pattern I mention below. The back extra-fabric issue: I learned from a 1980 Palmer-Pletch McCall’s fit-as-you-sew bias skirt pattern to tie 1/4” elastic around the smallest part of the waist. Then put the basted together skirt (unattached to bodice) on under the elastic with the elastic at the waist seam line. Then pull up on the skirt at the back until the wrinkles disappear; chalk in new seam line. This works! You can do the same thing to the bodice. It’s the way I now do a swayback alteration on dresses-fabrics behave differently, so I think it can be better to do that in fabric than on the pattern. Fitting is hard! Thanks for sharing these beautiful vintage projects!!
Your vintage sewing makes are very inspirational and look amazing on you. My favourites are the sweater top and pencil skirt, the red flowered dress, neon green blouse and the brown linen trousers. Very well done 😊
I haven't sewing for me that much. I've been sewing for friend and I'm happy I could pleased them. But now is time to sew for me. I have a lot of beautiful fabric for dresses. I love dresses the most
You are incredibly talented. I loved the birthday dress and the Dec dress and bolero and the idea of creating more boleros to go with it. I can't wait to see what else you've done! Well done!😀🤗😘❤❤
New subscriber because of your awesome wardrobe and skills! Love everything, so classic and elegant. This has nothing to do with sewing but you look like a cross between Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe! That makes your whole aesthetic come to life which makes me feel like I'm watching someone from that era! Thanks for sharing your talent!
First video I’ve seen from you and YT couldn’t have suggested a better one. Love the way you shared each make with such detail! Finished garment, pattern, fabric, likes and dislikes, etc. and I’m so appreciative of the detailed description box!!
What a great video! You are so creative and you look so good in everything! My mom was a wonderful seamstress and she showed all her own clothes from the time she was a young teen. I’ve seen many pictures of her in her creations (in the 40s and 50s, and your video brought so many wonderful memories to mind. Keep up the wonderful work!
Love it. I made two poisongrrl sweater too the night before ski and cha cha now I’m going to have to make these that you made.. I Started the boardwalk one today.
Nice! I'm hopefully going to make the Night Before for next Christmas! In the meantime, I need to finish a different cardigan and I really want one of those Dotties! I got a gift certificate to Quince and Co for Christmas so I'm excited to do some yarn shopping 😁
This is the first video I see from you and you look so georgeous! The outfits the hair and the smile, a vintage dream disney princess 💖 really inspiring and great that you mention what you would change next times. I hope you made a similar video this year too!
@@LizVonVillas this is one of my favorite what I made in a year videos I have ever seen! Every outfit was so pretty and they got better and better! I hope you keep going 💖
The pencil skirt, the minerva playsuit fabric and how the outfit looks, and the complicated September dress, unbelievable, another level. In terms of handwashing, i don't know if it's true, but i heard you can fold it carefully and put it in a pillowcase and wash it on 'gentle' or something in the machine. The problem with machines is more temperature i think like wool? But you were supposed to put your lingerie/ stockings and stuff in pillowcases, my friend kept an old one
I get the same thing at the butt. All you have to do is lengthen the back darts by a few centimeters (The one(s) above the butt). This will remove the excess fabric above the butt 🙂
All of it, I love all the styles. Vintage styles are so glamorous. The skirt short set, I have a few of those vintage patterns and although never my size, I just want to make one for the fun of creating one. Great job on the makes. Keep inspiring.
I just found this video and everything you made looked gorgeous. I was shocked to see how many views and subscribers you have. You absolutely deserve more recognition.
loved all your makes, including the knitting and crocheting.Your use of fabric is fab and your birthday dress is amazing. You mentioned your work, what do you do?Also,do they allow you to wear what you want or do they have a dress code you tweak?
Thank you 🥰 It was so fun to see everything almost as a collection! I work in the sports industry as a full time graphic designer and illustrator, with some motion graphics and video occasionally. When I'm at the office I'm expected to wear business casual but it's definitely not too strict. As I mentioned in my video, I'll make sure to have my shoulders covered as I would in the office. Something like a rockabilly wrap top would definitely need a sweater or bolero. No shorts, but on Fridays we can wear jeans. We can wear golf attire any time. But since we've been working remotely most of the year, I've pretty much been wearing whatever I want and if I know I have a video meeting I'll make sure to look presentable, though I do usually get up and do my hair/makeup and get dressed because it makes me happy!
WOWWWWW Tres Bolero that is a gorgeous pattern Abd your snowflakes everything perfect Everything was perfect u should be proud of what you do. Im new just seen your oage today your are very judgemental of your own creations. You did a great job. Not too many people can do all that that

Beautiful work! I’m having issues finding clothes that I want as apposed to what I’m finding. I decided YESTERDAY to just buy a sewing machine and make my own clothes one piece at a time. I found your video today ❤
My dear just found your channel today and I'm so glad a I did. You are such a talented and beautiful girl, can't wait to see your beautiful creations for this year. Good bless you always !!!
I have a huge list of items I want to sew, and this is just so amazing and useful to see. I love that you mixed some practical everyday items in with some dream makes!
Beautiful projects! The snowflake bolero is particularly stunning! I really wish I could crochet or knit, but I just am not quick enough at it, or for it really, to ever persevere for more than a few rows 😅
Aw thanks, Bianca! Haha I know what you mean, knitting can be quite the slog, crochet too but I usually find it more enjoyable. These snowflakes are pretty instant gratification though! 🥰❤️
Awwww WWHP was one of the best memories of 2020! Can’t wait to go back and do all the things we didn’t get to do. You have so many great pieces added to your wardrobe this year! Your capsule wardrobes are coming together so quickly. Also, my mom keeps eyeing the cardigan you made me. Such a great piece and I love it!
100% agree on the alterations to S8447, my favorite top but the back always comes out of my pants awkwardly so definitely needs to be lengthened! Oh Liz, that #9Ronne top is so gorgeous!! It was interesting to see your year in review can't wait to see what else you make in 2021
Love all your projects, I get so many great pattern ideas from you! I've just made the Claire wrap top (after falling in love with your versions) out of a vintage cotton bed sheet & doubled it up just like you did with the other subversive femme pattern to make sure the white wouldn't be too see through (especially with a bra under)! I'm pretty pleased with the result, will definitely be making another soon. Looking forward to seeing what you make next 😊
Beautiful clothes, great sewing. The large red check, around the bust seemed to greatly increase your size there to eye popping proportions. If you like that effect great. If not maybe a smaller scale print there would work better. Looking forward to seeing more of your creations. Happy sewing. Irena
What a busy bee you were in terms of sewing! There are lots of lovely makes and a few of which I might want to do myself. Especially that lovely, lovely pencil skirt. I've got one myself, but it is really tight and I'd really like one that is a bit looser like the one you've got. Just tight enough that it shows off the hip curves and also gives enough room to walk in. However, I'm not that proficient in sewing yet and I don't feel ready for daring to sew actual clothes! I started familiarizing with my sewing machine a while ago and I've got a patchwork blanket that, admittedly, I have been working on and off for the past five or so years... I'm darn good at procrastinating - unfortunately. But I'll get it done soon, so I can use it in my sun room and go on to my next sewing project which will be a full circle skirt in navy. I hope that one is an easy enough project to get into clothes sewing. Looking forward to it!
I think a circle skirt is the perfect first garment! Once you start you'll be so glad 😁 Don't be intimidated to sew clothes, just start with cheap fabric or even old sheets and play around. If you haven't watched my video about choosing a pattern size, that may be helpful!
The problem in the back of your coral colored dress is in your lower back! You may have what my mother called a" Sway back" ,as I discovered I have scoliosis! Which indents your lower back! Take a dart on either side of your spine! Thecrress was really lovely tho! You did a great job on all you made! Happy Sewing!🍂❤️🍁💖🧡🤗
Thanks so much for the compliment! I think that my problem isn’t a sway back, but a low bum/long rise! I’ve been thinking about making a video about this specific topic, thanks for the inspiration!
Good Idea! Would help many probably! A good title? "Know your Body's shape!" The 1950s saw the most Elegant sewing creations of the Century! Post War fabric rations lifted, new types of fabric!, all so inspirational! I was born in 1950 and my mother and Grandmother's Made All my Cloypthes even my little underwear!! My Mother could see something in a big department store ,find a very similar pattern for her and us girls , and the next Day we were all dressed up! She still at 89 is an amazing Seamstress! Clothes today have little individual style and are just Ragged looking to me! ( I was spoiled in 1950-80s! So pleased you are interested enough to recreate your style after this amazing decade of fashion! Happy Sewing!♥️🤗🍂❤️
Just found your vid, and I really love all your makes! That little knit sweater is so spot on, it made me do the little gasp of, "wow, how great!" Please, please, please tell me you made a little blue shrug with white stars for the red dress!!!
Just found your video and love love love everything! You are so talented , love that you gave all the details on the experience with each item. You look great in all of them!
I love your makes this year! For the "hip bubble/low butt fabric bubble" problem, look into a swayback adjustment. You are along the right lines in your thinking, and I have the same problem. But basically my back (and perhaps yours) curves in more and is less straight at the part going towards the hips/butt, so there is excess fabric in that area. There are ways to remove the fabric in drafting/from the pattern, or even make curved darts!
I think the right solution is curved darts! I don’t need a swayback adjustment, I think my butt is just round 😂🍑 im going to use that 1957 skirt pattern as a block going forward! Thanks for watching 💕
Hello! I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to re-set your hair. (so not on on the first day after washing, but on the second day) because for some reason I can get it to work with freshly washed hair, but not when theyre already curled. Thank you!
That's too bad of that (Butterick 6700) out of print, what I'm I going to do now I liked that style, I'll have to try to make it without the pattern, I hope. I like your styles, you are a good dressmaker!
The sawrong dress is perfect and the back of the other dresses is fine its just your having to be. Perfect. Im like that. The march items The two bolero toos are perfect fo
You had a full time job at this time? You must have learned how to sew 🧵 long ago?! I guess if you learned it’s helpful this is a lot. Also a lot of pattern cost I like these styles! You must have a larger fabric budget too. I would like I get started. Any way love gives inspiration. Goals../ how to get started? And how do you get patterns where you don’t spend much?
I learned the basics of sewing when I was 18, but I started sewing regularly in 2017. It took a couple of years to get comfortable with making fit adjustments. I had a full time job in 2020, but I was working remotely once the pandemic started so I had a lot more free time to sew! It became my outlet and was a good way to get through the early months of the pandemic. Don’t try to get all of your patterns all at once, just build up your collection over time. Wait for sales on Simplicity, look for second-hand give-always or yard sales, check Facebook marketplace. Fabric can be expensive but it doesn’t have to be if you look for deals and coupons. Make test versions of new patterns before cutting out your nice fabric. Good luck!! It’s worth the investment!
I just found your site. Your clothes are outstanding! I always did love that eras clothing in movies, so classic. Your hair is darling. Can you tell me your size please, it’s helps me understand how things may or may not work for me.
Thank you! I’m not sure what size I am in ready-to-wear. I haven’t gone clothes shopping in years. But in sewing, that also depends on the brand of pattern 😂 I can tell you my measurements. I’m 5’5”, upper bust is 35, full bust is 38, waist is 26.5, hips are 39.75. Hope that helps!
You're beautifully coiffed and are really creative in your pattern and fabric choices. The results are flattering and classic. I would subscribe to your channel, but unfortunately, I don't have your hourglass figure (I'm a a boy box with a butt, lol). I'll check in from time to time though. All the best for growing your chennel!!
Of course don’t feel obligated to subscribe but I don’t just sew 😊 I also do hair and some makeup stuff too. I’ve got some more accessory tutorials planned and some wardrobe building content coming up. Thanks for watching! 💕
@@LizVonVillas I love the top (dress?) you are wearing in your Marilyn tutorial brush out, and would love a reproduction of Marilyn's dress in the Seven Year Itch, when they are drinking champagne (pale blue with criss cross straps in front)
My late wife probably would have enjoyed your channel. I guess it's possible to get patterns for men's attire as well? Perhaps make a suit set once in my life before I die? Have been exposed to the world of sewing. Not flirting with you either. I don't date. Not anyone. Just curious. Be blessed

Happy Sewing!♥️🤗🍂❤️
wow- such an awesome collection!!! congrats!
Thanks! 💕
Loved seeing your makes, all very beautiful.
Thank you! 🥰💖
We absolutely need to see the knitting sweater pattern. You are so talented and such an inspiration! Love you Liz!!!
Aww thanks Janet!! 🥰❤️ it’s the Beauty School Top from Poison Grrls!
Just found your vid, and I really love all your makes! That little knit sweater is so spot on, it made me do the little gasp of, "wow, how great!" Please, please, please tell me you made a little blue shrug with white stars for the red dress!!!
😁❤️ aww thanks!! I agree, I was pleased as punch with that little orange sweater!! And I haven’t made any more boleros just yet, but I will! 😁
Just found your video and love love love everything! You are so talented , love that you gave all the details on the experience with each item. You look great in all of them!
😁🥰❤️ aww thanks so much!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful work! It’s so inspiring I can’t wait to get back to my machine
Thank you!! 💖 yay!
I love everything ❤ you made
Great for you. They look awesome on you
beautiful work! You look fabulous!I love Vintafe style, I'm overweight so I don't even dress up anymore.

Whats the pattern used for the coral tiki convention dress? love your style and your talent!
I’m a new follower. Your patterns look vintage. Are they reproductions that I can buy now?
Beverly hills patterns (all one word) has the western outfit
Is that on Etsy?
@@LizVonVillas yes
Cool! Thanks for the heads up!
I found it! She spelled Beverley differently. Thanks 😊
Hello! I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on how to re-set your hair. (so not on on the first day after washing, but on the second day) because for some reason I can get it to work with freshly washed hair, but not when theyre already curled. Thank you!
Sure! 😊💕
That's too bad of that (Butterick 6700) out of print, what I'm I going to do now I liked that style, I'll have to try to make it without the pattern, I hope. I like your styles, you are a good dressmaker!
Aww that’s too bad. I wonder if you could find one online? Maybe eBay? I got mine on there, I’m pretty sure. And thank you! 💖
The dress thata long Hawaian? It is GORGEOUS.
It has a Chinese vibe and the sarong makes it look thai. But its beautiful
The sawrong dress is perfect and the back of the other dresses is fine its just your having to be. Perfect. Im like that. The march items
The two bolero toos are perfect fo
Such a good job, everything is perfect and these are my favourite type of clothing. Do you take clients? I assume you're shipping from the US
Can we talk about your shoes? I love them all. Where did you source them?
Thanks! Sure! I’ve got a shoe/purse collection show&tell planned soon 😁❤️
I absolutely love the lemon playsuit with the skirt. What pattern did you use for it? I've been looking for a pattern just like this for months.
Thank you! 🍋💛 All of the patterns are linked in the description. I used Charm Patterns Jane Set 😁
@@LizVonVillas thank you so much. You have done a marvelous job on all your outfits. Absolutely beautiful.
The dress for the tiki convention is amazing do you have a pattern number for that one ?
Thanks! 💕 All of the patterns are in the description. That’s the Lamour Dress from Charm Patterns 😊
What is your lip color in the talkie portions?
That’s a liquid lipstick from theBalm called “Charming”. It’s one of my all-time-favorites 😍😍😍
Hope that helps!
it is cool!
Thank you!
Amazing skills, and such a gorgeous feline figure these outfits really showcase it .. well done 👍
Thank you so much! 💖🐈⬛ “feline figure”… I love that 😁
You're beautifully coiffed and are really creative in your pattern and fabric choices.
Hi. With the to much fabric or “bubble” in the back. Just shorten the back a bit and you will be good.
Do you sell any of your creations or do any custom work?
That’s something I’ve been thinking about doing. What kinds of pieces would you be interested in?
@@LizVonVillas I love the top (dress?) you are wearing in your Marilyn tutorial brush out, and would love a reproduction of Marilyn's dress in the Seven Year Itch, when they are drinking champagne (pale blue with criss cross straps in front)
P R E T T Y😊.....Always, Sheryll
I’m first❣️ YAY
😁💕
Winona Ryder, is that you?
Hehehe th-cam.com/video/HqX_QDIjeyg/w-d-xo.html
Ughh Is this lady Marilyn Monroe in brunette version 🥺
😂 nope, just Liz!
@@LizVonVillas okay let me kiss you 😘😂
My thought exactly!!
I love your smile. Not gay, just saying.
Hehe thank you 🥰
My late wife probably would have enjoyed your channel. I guess it's possible to get patterns for men's attire as well? Perhaps make a suit set once in my life before I die? Have been exposed to the world of sewing. Not flirting with you either. I don't date. Not anyone. Just curious. Be blessed
