A fan requested me this INTERESTING mod... (Incredibox Ep16) The Beginning

One of my fellow pumpkin seeds, ‪@OliwerOfficials‬ requested me this mod called "The Beginning" and its very, very unique! It has funny looking stickmen who make weirdly cool synth waves and stuff.

This mod of yours isn’t too bad, but there’s some issues about it I’d like to point out, if you care to look further into. Some more obvious than others, but I’d still think they’re at least worth mentioning. Just so you know, I’m not trying to just insult your mod for no reason, I’m just trying to point out some stuff that you could maybe work on to improve upon for this and maybe future mods. I understand that this could have been your first or maybe one of your first times making a mod, but we all start from somewhere. I’ve noticed it looks like you’re planning on making more versions in this mod, so maybe you could apply what you’ve learned making the first and make later ones even better. This is all coming from someone who hasn’t made a mod myself, but I’ve seen tons of mods before, so this is coming from an average viewer of you’re mod, and stuff I’ve just noticed looking at it. First of all, how it looks. The stickman idea is something that I don’t see too often, which is great! You’re introducing new ideas. So far, I’ve only seen one mod actually use that idea. Maybe could vary a bit with how they look, though. One glaring issue, however, is the icon colors going into the next group when not supposed to. That, though, I’m sure wouldn’t be too hard to fix in the future. Now, the tough subject to talk about would be sounds. First of all, they sound just kind of bad, don’t know how else to put it. There are a few that sound decent, but most of the sounds are just really choppy, out of pitch, and really redundant with how short the loop is. You can have a very short loop and it still sounds good, it’s been done before, but the sounds themselves have to actually stand for themselves, no matter the situation. It just makes it hard to listen to. One way to hear if it’s okay would be simply to just try to listen to a bunch of different sounds together for maybe four loops. I’d suggest maybe working on slower music first, so that you can really tell where to make little adjustments to pitch and stuff. Another thing I’d point out is that you put cymbals in where melodies would normally go. Maybe you’ve done that on purpose to put a spin on a trend, but since you’ve just done it to one single sound, it just seems out of place. If you’re planning on doing that, I’d just say either fully commit to it and make all the sounds randomly placed, or don’t and just put it how it normally is. The voices also seem just a bit random, and more effects than voices. I understand that it’s hard to do actual “voice” voices when first starting out, but you could have made them a bit more melodic. One mod called Steel Factory actually had one voice that sounded a lot like an effect, but majority still sounded like voices. Sure, that’s a different mod and all, but the point is the voices are voices, unless maybe you’re meaning for them to also just be effects. In that case, then they’re fine, though some need some tuning. Finally, the bonuses. They could be a bit clearer. The second bonus I could tell a channel got deleted and a TH-cam broke, but I got no clue what the first and third are saying. I get the stickman style, but the lack of details makes it hard to decipher what’s going on. Maybe making some more details to clear them up a bit rather than just a scribble and some rectangles? It’s hard to tell what they mean with the lack of context around them. And with that, that’s all I got to say. Maybe work on a slower song, tune some stuff, some details, and then work from there. Again, this isn’t to trash your mod, I’m just trying to give some pointers to maybe take note of and apply to see how they work. That’s all from me, now. Hope this was helpful!

Sure, the weird cut-off doesn’t make the sounds themselves bad, but it still makes them sound awkward trying to get to one loop to the next. It could have been looped a lot better. Also, I get that that the creator made a cool comic of you and all, but you still could have just put the mod on the wheel and mention all that. The holiday mods I understand getting that treatment, since holidays come and go, but if you got fans, then you’re just going to get fan made stuff year round. Not trying to throw shade towards Oliwer, but the GWOM is a good idea to give all mods a fair chance to be played, unless you’re planning on prioritizing fan mods. In that case, then I’d say maybe it’s a good idea to make a wheel for that, too, if you get multiple fan made mods, and fall back to the GWOM when there aren’t any at the moment.
