The RAFT needs it's capacity doubled to 192; another row of three 32-SCU boxes would easily fit under the first three, and it really looks like it was intended that way, but it was intentionally limited for some stupid reason (CIG marketing butting in again?).... Otherwise it looks silly standing on unnecessarily tall stilts for legs, a two-story cargo ship on two-story legs that can't do any other mission except hauling, but can only ever be loaded halfway.
If they ever decide to un-nerf it, I'll be happy to buy it again.
I also think that RAFT could carry twice the amount of cargo. The ship performs practically one gameloop, cannot carry vehicles, is very heavy, which is shown by the physics of flying, and especially landing, and those ridiculous 3 containers look comical looking at the silhouette of this massive ship.
Yeah but it's so cool looking. lol
I mean I hear you, but 70% of the game is kinda still missing.
The RAFT is so large, it should carry 3x2x32 scu (2 on top of each other) or 4x32 scu
@@georgweber1920 agree
When I think of the word raft, I imagine something smaller in size.
@@blackmamba___ Imagine the Argo CANO, Argo BOAT and Argo SHIP.
Always loved my Raft - space home B. Space home A -> Rambler and C -> Starlancer Max.
I think this is exactly my plan. Rambler for solo exploring, RAFT for solo/duo trading, Starlancer MAX for if I can get a few people together.
@@hooperj11 yup. Only difference for me is I'm planning to try all of them solo.
Gravity generators won't stop things flying around when you crash. Trains and cars and buses and and boats and planes have gravity ( thanks to planet Earth) but things ( including people) will still fly around inside if you crash etc They need mag-locks to keep things in place.
One of the few Star Citizens who look EXACTLY how they sound.

go into your options and scroll a little down only until "highlight mode" and change that to "interaction mode".
you can also change the interaction mode to toggle, also you can turn the "display" thing inbetween the two options off but that only removes the stupid F.
18:12 You showed us aerobatics after you took off and then the damage from your near-fatal landing…and you are surprised the Cruz bottles fell? 😂 Dude, hit the ground hard enough and I doubt any grav generator will keep stuff on the counters! The real question is whether they’d stay in place under, um, less turbulent maneuvering. :D
Interesting observation. It sounds logical, but considering that it's a computer game, I wouldn't expect objects inside the ship to react to how hard I landed. I'll have to test that.
this ship is going to be a game changer when the larger hull series ships need to unload their cargo to a surface outpost for construction. the hull series ships have external tractor beams, and normally carry 32 scu box's, which is what this ship is originally ment to carry. the large H2 tank is ment for it to keep flying to unload the box's at the outpost for the hull series.
if your going to do box hauling, your better off with a bigger ship, like a cat or a herc.
currently, most of the argo's hauler's are mainly focused on moving small box's around a outpost, more so then doing a ton of cargo hauling.
Makes sense, it would also explain the huge H2 tank.
@qutatron so, imagine you have to hover in atmo and wait for people to rip the cargo off your ship over a cargo staging area, where you cant land. then you return to the hull ship either in orbit, or a good distance away from the said base. basically, the raft will be like a forklift is to a semi truck trailer at a warehouse. there is also going to be changes to hand tractor beams, where the biggest crate is 16 scu, like you said. so ships and the atlas will be the only way to move bulk containers. this will become more apperent with base building and large orgs, when they are using a few thousand scu of materials to build things.
Gravity generators don't fully negate accelerations in the X and Y directions, that's why we can fall over while the ship is in flight sometimes. So it makes sense that objects placed on surfaces may move around during flight.
@@aaronhunyady in one hand: Yes. But in the other hand: why we have tables and other places to put diffrent items?
Avoid making more than 1 negative g when transporting overloaded cargo
The gravity generators only have 1 g of force to the floor. If you shift hard enough the momentum of the object will over come the force and fall over...
@@haptism7844 thanks.
Let's get a rope ladder we can use out of the airlock 😊
This ship totally needs its own tractor beam, otherwise the Maxlift nerf will be a major nail in its coffin. How are they expecting operators to load the ship to it's pontential at all, never mind efficiently?
It is a problem, but after all loading 6 x 16 scu boxes is not big deal even for cargo hater like me.
@@qutatron You could do 3x 32 scu a lot faster, those are what the ship was specifically designed to carry.
I just picked up the raft & csv combo pack. I can’t wait to haul some shit with this bad boyeee
@@toecutter9372 i wanted to use Raft as explorer ship. Nice interrior, loads of fuel, ok survivability. Exploring the verse and occasional hauling would be good way to spand time in the verse.
I’d love them to have this ship’s tractor beam able to switch between the mouse wheel and Atls style beam modes.
@@jimc7022 agree
i like to think that the Raft and the Cargo's name were switched in the drafting board. the raft should be named the cargo while the little ship should be the raft.
Yes, but RAFT somewhat looks like a real raft if You imagine 32 scu boxes as wood logs.
The reason this ship is really laughable: A cargo ship with 96 SCU where the cargo itself looks like an afterthought. That back should be jampacked with cargo...
Instead, you get a living hub with - oh, yea, it can also do some cargo. In its price class, there will be the Hull B with more cargo even if the lower strut is not extended (so it can land). And not just a little bit, but 3x the amount - 4x the amount when going from station to station.
i love this ship too, btw can we have the name of the music in the video ? would love to add it to my truckin' playlist
This is free music track from YT music archieve. Unicorn Heads: Light Expanse.
The Raft is pretty sweet with its fast load/unload cargo ability. However, current cargo elevator limits this ship pretty severely. We can't work with 32 SCU containers, which means we can only do 24 SCUs containers due to the elevator issue. This would limit this ship's ability to deliver cargo from 96 SCUs (3x 32 SCU containers) to just 72 SCU (3x a24 SCUs). That is pretty bad, because now you have a way too big of a ship for what you are actually carrying. That coupled with the fact it can't carry vehicles is actually pretty devastating for this vessel. The C1 is way faster, slimmer, flies better, can take the same 3x 24 containers, and it's priced similarly. And if you can spend more, up to $200, you get the Taurus, which flatout destroys the Raft across all metrics.
CIG needs to make cargo elevators able to handle 32 SCU containers, and they also need to give this ship an ability to carry vehicles. Till then, the Raft is just a novelty with it's only bonuses being its to quickly load/unload cargo, and it's hovering thrusters. But other ships will do the same job just fine while offering capabilities the Raft can't offer.
Or You can alvays take 6x 16 SCU or various mixed cargo containers. Argo Raft have full operational cargo grid instead of 3 x 32 containers like before.
@@qutatron That is very true. Sadly, that would take away the quick cargo ability of the ship. The whole point of the Raft is to have it loaded with just 3 containers for maximum cargo speed.
If I have to load smaller boxes to reach full capacity, then I'm better off with the other ships that can offer more options. I think till CIG makes 32 SCU containers workable, this ship is in a really bad spot.
I would like to see RAFT variant with normal cargo bay. 64 scu of cargo grit on each side and ability to transport other stuff like vehicles. But then name "RAFT" does not have any sense.
@@qutatron Imagine if we could get conversion kits for it that would let us do stuff like that, kinda like they have conceptualized for the Retaliator. Amazing CIG doesn't see the potential for stuff like this. We would go crazy buying kits for our beloved ships if that was an option.
@@qutatronbasically just a bigger mpuv cargo while this is the bigger mpuv-t
They should have drop cargo button on raft
Where do you store things in the raft? How do you haul with it ?
I see at 21:00 thank you. Awesome. Love you.
@@Speciation thank You
All Argo ships bar the MOLE (it's ugly and ill thought out)
are very nice ships to own
the MPUV is in it's Passenger and tractor likley the most ideal utility ship
the atls has it's place,
the RAFT is just ideal for everything
and we got a cybertruck now with the CSV-SM
So, I'm thinking of getting into this game. How did you know where to sell the diamonds for a profit?
Basics: diamonds, laranite, beryl, can be found in various mining outposts on moons, and can be sold in cities with profit, Gold can be found on mining outposts on microtech and can be sold in cities. Hephaestanite can be found in admin office of Pyro Gateway and sold in Cities. More advanced info You can find here: uexcorp.space/
are those storage lockers on the RAFT new? i tried looking for them a couple of months ago, i couldnt find any in it.
I think this lockers are old, maybe couple of months ago wasbuged? I don't know.
Where’s the bathroom?
@@jerryk.1889 ner the weapon racks.
they bloody well best not be nerfing MaxLift for 16 SCU max, i will stop playing! cos that will be a step too far!
They have said they are going to at some point, I'm afraid. I just hope they wait until they figure out all the ship tractor beams (like this one) and how to work dual tractor beams on the same box for "team lift." The RAFT (and any future Argo cargo ships) also really need to have some kind of external bay for storing an ATLS, too.
@@hooperj11 thats taking the piss, they already nerfed the maxlift's abilities, not everyone wants to use an ATLS!
Sim's logical for me. Giblve utilité to ship tractor, and each tractor has purpose
I used the smaller tractor beam on the 16's okay but the range was limited.
@@billkranz8035 Yeah, they haven't made the change yet, they've just said they will "in the future."
