    What an amazing experience, I noticed that all the islanders had a smile on their faces most of the time which I equate to a happy life. I know that we have all the modern conveniences but there is something to be said for living a simple natural existence. Great VLOG!

    • @aperezvoyages
      @aperezvoyages  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is surely something to be said for a simple life and Kiribati islanders are yet a pure example of it. Most of these islands are unique to each other but Butaritari is the most unique as the abundance of resources improves the daily living more than most islands. But overall Kiribati people especially kids have the most beautiful smiles ever. Haven’t been to Thailand yet, but Kiribati smiles compete 😃🤙🏽 thank you again and always for showing aloha and support for my channel growth! 🌺

      Thanks for this awesome comment and glad you enjoy my video. I hope Kiribati gets more recognition for the right traveler and adventurer. I guess for more eco tourism . But any tourism would be beneficial to i Kiribati as a whole. 💙

    You brought back memories from our 4 year stay in Kiribati back in the late 80's. Loved Butaritari, visited there numerous times in the course of my work. I remember the downed plane in the lagoon when it was in better shape! Your photography was amazing, captured the essence of the place. (my 8mm movies & handicam videos from that time are hopeless!). Thanks for your journeys.

      Ahh man. Funny thing is i revisited Kiribati by making a really beautiful montage of the FRIENDLY FACES:www.tiktok.com/@aperezvoyages/video/7203022356779142446?
      Also funny thing, this comment automatically pulled this video up and rewatching it like its the first time and will have to agree with you on points you made. DO you still have your old footage? I would kill to see that. All the best my friend! Tekeraoi

    Amazing video . Glad you enjoyed living like a local . I always advice people travelling to Kiribati the first time to go visit one of the outer islands because thats where you get the real experience. I laughed so much seeing the children ... reminds me of my childhood, whenever we see an I-Matang we just ran and say hi for like a thousand times , bit of like harassing but like in a good innocent curious way hahaha . Thanks again for your video . So wonderful seeing my people through the lens 😁 . Cheers

      @aperezvoyages  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was waiting for your comment ☺️ so happy to bring back such fond memories. Yes I had countless times where little kids would yell HI to me. Those are rare moments truly felt within Kiribati culture so as long as you just roam. I’m glad you enjoyed! It was a blessing to put this together! Great memories for sure 🇰🇮

    In our région too people are very friendly. In Vanuatu, they were twice the happiest people on Earth !!!
    In japanese, BUTA means pig !! And in french t’as ris (TARI) means you have laughed !!!
    Just for the fun. Buta pig plays a rôle in the autochtones customary life !!!
    In Lifou language, and others in the Pacific pig buta is called puaka !!!

      Depending where in the us you are but if from California, more than likely catching a flight to Fiji onward to Tarawa. Then from there catching the next local flight to the outer islands. Probably over $1000 on flights alone round trip. A trip like this I would recommend open ended to try and visit the marshalls and other islands in one trip. So worth it
