I would love to visit Koror, Palau again. During the July 4th weekend of 1964 my ship moored on the west side of Koror. We had a ship's party in the village and marched in formation before a cheering crowd. I was impressed by the BAI structures with symbols representing the past on the island. I have a carved storyboard from Koror.
Taro farms was jus kids wwe ring . I remember wrestling my cousins and farting around in the taro field and my grandma was hella pissed yelling at us. Good times.
I wish i can get the tattoo details on the old lady's left arm at 1:08. I'd like to have one done on my arm to carry on the legacy & remembrance of traditional Palauan tattoos
If you’re a Palauan tho even the ones raised abroad and don’t speak the language still weird. Lak mkora meruul rkemiu el kora chad ra Belau a lak moleko tekoi rbelau
Hi. It was great documentary about your island, greetings from Indonesia. can you tell me what is the song at the beginning and the end of the video? Thanks :)
The song is "Mengurs a Ngurd" sung by Rengiil Umedib. You can hear another version of that song here: store.cdbaby.com/cd/adidilertialbuileraongos and you can read the lyrics and their translation here: ouchacha.wordpress.com/2016/12/04/mengurs-a-ngurd-rated-r/
I am looking for anyone who is related to my late husband Dicran Collins. Our 14 year old son Ethan Collins would like to connect with his fathers family. He wants to know all there is to know about palau an would like to learn his family's language as well. Please if you know anyone who knew dicran please reach out.
Did anyone get in touch with you? I don't know your late husband. Do you have a Palauan family name? That would make it easier for the relatives to get in touch. Just a thought.

@@JimGeselbracht thank you very much sir appreciated that :)
any idea when this video was originally produced? maybe late 60's or early 70's
At the end of the video it references PL 89-10, a law (granting money to make the film) passed in 1965. So probably 1965 or 66.
