I'm glad you put Utsuro in the 'Favorites' section. I love his character a lot! He's basically a Izuru Kamukura that's done right. In the official DR games, Izuru's character was very neglected and the focus was on Hajime most of the time. Sure, Hajime's story is touching and great, But with Izuru's power and his lack of emotions, I feel like there could have been more. There were lots of things missing. I think DR another handled this type of character way better with Utsuro. he impacted bunch of other characters around him with his godly powers and I would expect things like that to happen from a character like him. As for Nikei, I love him as well. In the end, even though he lied to everyone, he still cared about the void members. His hatred for Mikado was understandable to me. Syobai is my most favorite character out of all of them. I think at the end, he did what he never done in his life before. and that was doing what's right. Because he was left alone all by himself in a dangerous world, he only did anything that could benefit him. he did everything for one thing. for Survival. But he still helped Sora to win when he could have helped Mikado and get the life he finally wanted. Because he's so smart, he would have known that there a chance of him getting arrested, but he still did it.

The tech thing might not have been a plot hole. For one setting an alarm could be relatively simple to learn, he could have exaggerated his inability to use tech to divert future suspicion, or he could have asked monokuma. Though I never did understand why he had to kill Inori bc his deal was only he had to kill not get away with it
Ngl, when I saw the thumbnail I was like "I know where Nikei's going!" But I was not expecting him to have his own tier at the top, though I say that's what he deserves, probably because he's my favorite too! Calling Kizuna "Kiyoka" strikes again! (9:10) I really liked your tier list, and I agree with a lot of your opinions of the characters!
Feel like Setsuka and Shinji are a lil higher for me because of the impact they had on other characters, setsuka helped hold people together and was able to help Hibiki develop and Shinji…the real Shinji saved Yuki, sacrificed himself to avoid letting him be the blackened (even though suffocation in fire is a pretty terrible way to go), and then in chapter 6, whether it was Shinji or just yuki’s memory of him, it let him escape his utopia and helped yuki be strong and move on. Basically I love Shinji bc chapter 4 similar to how I like Satsuki and kobazing in the first game bc chapter 4
I love Ayame a lot so I'm glad you put her so high up (compared to most youtubers who played DRA) , honestly I am disappointed that she didn't get much screentime (also Linuj said she was meant to be a survivor so that sucks a lot) though her ftes do flesh her out I really wish she had more development before dying
She would have had more in the second game if, coincidentally, Nikei wouldn't have messed up the four chapter island Why? Just why? Why he didn't he do that to Higa City? (Everyone finds a torture that he receives a whole city, and Linuj reveals that it was completely intentional xd)
See low key, 100 orphans vs a couple of students. I think in general, it’s better to dirty ones hands then go with the result where more die bc I think avoiding bloodying one’s own hands is not worth another’s life However, that’s only in the case where you actually know the different endings…if you’re working with someone who can’t be trusted, expect betrayal. Still I don’t think what he did (well unless you count what he did to cover it up) as wrong…just foolish. Though ig one could argue he could have killed himself but kinda depends if he thought that would count
I find it a lil funny that Utsuro and Kanade are both kind of “excellent antags, horrible people”/“love to hate” characters but are put on completely different ends up the spectrum. I think when I made my tier list, I had a separate tier for those types of characters bc it didn’t feel correct to put them with my faves nor with characters that are just dislikable and not even interesting like Mitch
That’s definitely true hahah. They’re on opposite ends for me. I think I’m more scared of Kanade than Utsuro and that’s why hahahah. Both are great characters!

Yuri has only ever had bad experiences with men and it is implied that he may have heard from Akane about her experiences when she was his maid, This would explain why he thinks men are vile and wants to give joy to a women it basically reflects his regret about not being able to make Akane as happy as she made him.
The breaking point for me with Kanade was that one CG of her burning Sesuka's note. Never has a video game made me feel as much rage as Kanade (Yes, even Micah bell and Abby were saints compared to her), and I think the reason why is because as a character, she never really felt Despair. (Unless you consider Jealously or being yelled at by your own sister) This is basically breaks an unwritten "golden rule" in that every student who commits murder falls into despair even the likes of Korekiyo. Kanade's shared execution just highlights how even in death she still somehow finds a way to avoid being despaired since she got to she Hibiki unknowingly die from false hope. I.e. the execution did not give kanade suffering it ended up fulfilling her wish to she Hibiki suffer for her entire life till the very end (while also avoiding prosecution from Kisaragi foundation). Personally if I could make one change to the execution, it would be to make it so that either Hibiki survives her execution or she dies after Kanade. Either way Kanade is forced to die without being able to see her sister suffer for one last moment, this way Kanade for the first (and last) time in her life finally experiences genuine despair.
I completely agree with this. Kanade got exactly what she wanted and she died in a euphoric state, feeling as though she fulfilled her life’s purpose, and she didn’t deserve that. I still think she’s completely terrifying as a character. I do wonder what it would have been like if she died before Hibiki
@chrissyscorner haha in hindsight there may be an argument that she did deserve it. She killed 60 people (including her own parents, sheesh) to keep them away from her sister so that she could mold her into that really weird subservient mind state. Managed to hide ALL OF IT, even from the likes of Kinjo. Then, after all that, she gets kidnapped, has her memory wiped and is placed in a killing game. During all this, she still manages to plot one of the trickier plans in the series, which almost got both her and her sister a win. She really only failed there because of Sora's algorithm directive to ensure Utsuro is resurrected. Super creepy lady, but she put in the effort 🤔

While I do believe that Kanade is an interesting character, she’s a horrible person. Probably worse than some masterminds we’ve seen in other games. And I just can’t bring myself to like her hahah she terrifies me 😂😂

It’s what Nikei deserved!! I don’t know how it happened, but he became my favorite character after chapter three and he will remain there forever 😂😂
