The main reason I enjoy these episodes is that they reignite a spark of love for the ps3. I have all of tonight's bangers and have collected just over 400 fantastic games for the system. Polygon Don, your love and enthusiasm for these games are obvious. Thanks again for the brilliant content, I look forward to the next one.
Class video. You look at the these games the graphics and world building achieved by the Devs on these games for this system and it pretty much leaves you scratching your head and wondering what's going on in the game industry now. A golden era for gaming on a console that's not been topped since. 25:43
Unfortunately I missed out on that completely. I’ve never played a single PS3 game on a 3D TV I’m very sad to say. I don’t even think I know anyone that still has one either 😥
All great games, fantastic in fact. The PS3 really was a great console (eventually) and it’s games, multiplat and exclusives really were pushing boundaries.
Off to a good start already with this video. Vanquish is the game that I'm playing right now and boy oh boy is it worth of all the hype it get's. And absolute friggin' masterpiece. Unapologetic batshit insane nonestop action with testosterone overflow, amazing gameplay, no bullshit mechanics or monetization and nothing but respect for the players time. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
@@thepolygondon9198 I also don't get it to be honest. This is one game, that all reviews have praised even back in the day, all highlighting why it is so much fun and yet it is, as you say something that is underappreciated. I mean, I'm getting my ass kicked left and right on hard difficulty but yet, I never get angry at this game (as I usually do) because never did I feel that game was being cheap on me. It's an absolute blast to experience a gem like this. So glad to see you feature it, right now of all times.^^
As someone whose love for video games was reignited by the PS3, I really appreciate seeing these videos highlighting some of the greats. As you referenced, some of these games have been remastered and ported for better pastures, but there's something about the PS3 that captures the essence of what these games were supposed to be. Can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing!
Agreed, I do feel like the general consensus regarding the PS3 has shifted in recent years into a more positive light, which is good. I love the system personally, and there’s a tonne of incredible games to experience on it 👊🏼
Holy crap motor storm apocalypse looks amazing!!! I only ever got to play the first one that released on the PS3 briefly in a Walmart display, but I thought it was an incredible representation of what the PS3 could do at the time, and it's still looks really good today!! The destruction physics are awesome. I just wish games like this would add more physics into the emotion that the vehicle show where the suspension is concerned.??? Give me a car that when you corner the back in squats down to one side and the front end lift up into the air and make it really emotional where the vehicle body roll is concerned??? Like vigilante 8 and driver did this really well back in the day!!! Mafia two is another that comes to mine that does this pretty good?? But developers do not do this in their games.... really make the stand by how much detail to the car appearing to roll over various different surfaces!!
MotorStorm Apocalypse was a great game, got the platinum trophy on it but was really enjoyable. Only game from the list I don’t own is Resistance 3, although I’ve never given any real time to GTA or Vanquish while Deus Ex is still in the wrapper🙄 Great video 👍🏻
Hey Bro love your content, from the USA, I appreciate the lengthy gameplay videos after your explanation, that seems to be missing from a lot of retro channel's. Subscriber 4 life. Keep it up
Motorstorm apocalypse is even more insane if you play in 3D! I'm pretty sure it also allowed you to play 2 player in 2D but unable to see the other players screen if you used the 3D
@@thepolygondon9198 I completely forgot about it until I got a 4k tv & realised it didn't have 3D. So now the 10 year old Sony 50" 3D is on the bedroom wall & I've got a 2nd ps3 soley for playing 3D games & movies. Its still not too late. There's no 3D TVs but there are 3D projectors still available.
Hi Polygon Don, Did you know that On Rush for the ps4/xbox one was created by some of the motorstorm devs. It's considered a spiritual successor to the motorstorm series. It's pretty decent.
I think I did hear something about that but completely erased it from memory. I might even have On Rush on disc now that I think about it. Going to go look for it now! Cheers man 👊🏼
Keep in mind that if you have the option, I would get grand theft, auto IV on Xbox 360 being as you got a little bit more comfortable of a controller, and the graphics and resolution are slightly better!!! Trying to play on my PS3 these days is rough !!!! Holy hell... It's not so bad on the Xbox 360, but it's not as good as I remembered it being ??? But that's also because the TV that we were getting back in 2008, made this game look incredible!! Nowadays all the TVs are cheap unless you got five grand to invest...
Great video! I loved Vanquish so much that I purchased the DLC for it as well!😁 I hope that you get a chance to checc out my favorite underrated racer on PS3 PURE. Imagine the SSX and ATV series of racers combined then you got PURE.
I wanted to like PURE but the trick systems I found to be overly cumbersome and forced upon you in order to win races. It distracted from my joy. On the other hand you should check out Nail'd...a true ATV hidden gem on the PS3. Amazing little arcade racer.
Pure and Nail’d have sat in my backlog for years! Picked them both up for dirt cheap in charity shops if I remember correctly. Now that I have some positive feedback on them, I’ll finally check them out and give them a whirl. Nice one chaps 👊🏼
I've got three of these (Vanquish, Motorstorm, and Deus Ex), although I haven't gotten around to playing any of them yet. I have to get to them at some point, especially Motorstorm, which looks fantastic.
I thought it had to be connected via a cable the whole time (which isn’t really ideal for my set up) but I’ve just looked into this after reading your comment and there was a PS3 update that now enables wireless DS4 connectivity! I had no clue, nice one man, this is a game changer for me 😂
Good shit as always, PD. But on that GTA4 you missed a great opportunity to inform about the involvement of El Gaupo, Bass Rutten (MMA Hall Of Fame, er and all around bad ass) was the mocap model for Nico's martial arts animations. 👍🍻
Vanquish is the epitome of underrated. It's such a shame it doesn't have a sequel, but neither did Space Marine for a long time, so... 🤞
Fingers crossed indeed! That would be awesome 🤞🏼

He’s back! The gaming mafioso himself - Polygon Don. 😎
This list rocks as expected.
Grazie 🙏🏼
Vanquish is the best third person shooter of all time in my opinion! Another great video by The Don!
It’s definitely up there isn’t it!? Such a good time to be had with that one 👌🏼
Resistance 3 on a 3D T.V. is the most amazing experience anyone could have whilst gaming. The depth is insane and the electrical gun was unbelievable.
Unfortunately I missed out on that completely. I’ve never played a single PS3 game on a 3D TV I’m very sad to say. I don’t even think I know anyone that still has one either 😥

Yeah it took a while but eventually the PS3 came out swinging 👊🏼
Just a note on GTA 4, while it is locked to the 7th gen of consoles. It is backwards compatible on Xbox Series consoles aswell as all it's DLC
Nice! 👌🏼

So sick isn’t it!? Gutted the port didn’t win more people’s hearts but hopefully the franchise isn’t completely dead 🤞🏼

I like how you break down the game and tell the story I like your intro

@quiddity1977 nice! Best of both worlds 👌🏼
I am actually thinking of a projector for the new game room so I’ll give it a research 👍🏼
0:38 Vanquish is a predecessor of Metal Gear Revengeance! Only truly OGs of Vanquish would know.

I’m playing Deus Ex HR and Mankind Divided now
Nice! 👌🏼
I have to say, mate - you're killing my wallet ! ;)
😂
You can use your ps4 controller on your ps3 no problem
