What the Hell is wrong with the music industry that they have not recognized Jim McCarty as one of the best guitarists on the planet. Jim never plays the same note or riff twice, has incredible range and skill, a sound second only to Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac vintage guitar and can stretch and hold a note/ notes until next Tuesday !!! The first time I heard of Jim was back in about 73 when I bought the first Cactus album. I was so blown away by his slow blues playing on the " what are we calling this one? The blues. OK, slow blues take one " track , that I was SURE this guitarist was going to be the next great guitar idol. But alas, this was not the case, and we discover that Jim was quite comfortable with that and just wanted to quietly play for himself and small venues in and around his home state. He fell under the radar for many, many years. But due to the Internet, TH-cam and cell phones he has become more available to all who love him and his incredible playing. Years ago I discovered he was the on fire guitarist that played that insane lead break on Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels - Devil in a Blue Dress. Jim not only needs to have as much of his work recorded as possible, but this VERY prolific guitarist deserves to be given his due and the recognition of his incredible talent and playing as a top notch guitarist. Clapton, Green and Gary Moore have always been my personal favorite guitarists. But I have now given that position and title to Jim McCarty, whom I would listen to anytime, anywhere, and endlessly. This guy is just so good, and he does it all so effortlessly. Thanks Jim, you make the blues new all over again !!!
Thank you for watching my video that i filmed. It was a special night. Jason Ricci was invited to join the band for the night. It was a fantastic show. (I should post the entire show sometime). What you are witnessing is a first cut, first time playing this song together. You would never guess by how smooth and these musicians are at their craft. I think this is one of my top favorite videos of my collection. I'm glad you agree.
Some lovely Blues Harp by Jason Ricci on Double Trouble from Mystery Train. The very first album I bought was the Beano Album by John Mayall's Bluesbreakers featuring Eric (Slowhand/God) Clapton on Lead Guitar. My favourite track on that was Double Trouble. I never then thought anyone would ever match the quality of that version, but this comes as close as is possible. Enjoy a Real Blues Classic. Many thanks indeed for sharing this and the other tracks by this Awesome band. You have made an old (68) Bluesfan VERRY HAPPY.
+John Bennett You and I must be about the same age. yeah, I had BEANO on vinyl way back in the day. Loved that LP....Have You Heard was another blistering solo blues on that LP. Isn't this Jason Ricci just incredible? I have played harp myself for many, many years; he's the best I've ever heard, easily. Which is really saying something!
Hoy he descubierto este vídeo en TH-cam. Fabuloso!!!Sublime!!!

No it's not. First of all he is not english, but from Detroit. Secondly that Jim played drums.this Jim McCarty played with Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels back in the day. And then Cactus with Tim Bogart - bass, Carmine Appice - drums, and Rusty Day - vocals and harp.
Nothing cursed about this cat or this band. This type of skill is way way top shelf. All of these cats are fire but I have to admit the harp player surprised the heck out of me, was not expecting that type of expertise at all. You can tell the hours and hours of practice and dedication and inner pain it takes to produced this type of product.

Fabulous slow blues! So nice to see two guitarists staying out of each other's way and supporting the song. Bravo.
