    I feel that a majority of Americans don't know this information.
    I wish the media would spend more time educating and less time on sensationalism.

    Thank you for being the only video on YT to answer the question.
    Its sad to hear that even ec reps get penalized for exercising their constitutional rights.
    So the libertarian green and any new party is SOL really. Unless they first take over state politics they wont have any ec's.

    As others have said, thank you for answering the actual question. I searched for so long to figure out WHO the Electoral College is. Nobody explains WHO these people are. Now I understand better, though the lack of major consequences for "Faithless Voters" is terrifying 😢

    Everyone should be able to register as an Independent and the popular vote should be elected in a rank choice voting system.

    If the electoral college has that much power, why bother with the popular vote? So on election day just count the electoral college vote. Sorry but I don’t understand. I’m Canadian.

      From my understanding It's because the popular vote determines which party will win in that state and consequently the party who wins will have the electoral votes for that state to vote. For instance GA has 16 electoral votes, if the popular vote goes Republican today, the republican party will have 16 electors to cast their votes on the electoral college in mid December. And same with democrat vote, if popular vote goes to democrats, they will have 16 electoral votes for the presidency.

    • @basilicarusnac2864
      @basilicarusnac2864 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RogelioWPerea which party wins in a certain state it is important for that state only. And they should be able to elect their state officials as they want. When it comes to the president, it is a matter of the people, including the nonpartisans. So, the popular vote should be the only way to elect the president of the whole country.

    Its sad that most people dont understand this from 5th grade social studies class or again, Civics in high school thay America is NOT a democracy. Ask a person why they voted for a candidate and what do they do? They repeat your question with disdain as if youre stupid because its so OBVIOUS why.........................And they just look at you............. (Still waiting for that response though)

    You didn't delve into an very important question: what if rogue electoral votes change the election result?

    • @Tester-kq8zd
      @Tester-kq8zd 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Its never even changed the result of a states vote before. Almost all faithless electors had voted for a 3rd party, or were just one of many electors and therefore the rest who voted faithfully would override them.
      If that were to happen it would go to the supreme court and they would decide if its constitutional or not. I imagine they would say its unconstitutional because the electors are basically voting against the majority of people in that state

    the electors votes arent based off the popular thats totally opposite on how the electoral vote works, read the 12th amendment , an elector can pick who they choose and the supreme court are made up of idiots. the elector picks their choose and can be based on the people in their districts , those votes are collected by the state sent to d.c. to get counted.. they are tallied and the one with the most wins and there is supposed to be two elections , obe for president and one for vice president the constitution DOES tell us how it work.. read the 12th amendment turn these idiots off
