    Pulled pork is one of my favorite things to make on my pellet smoker. I also love having people who are new to smoking meat make pulled pork. It is so forgiving and REALLY hard to mess up if you follow the instructions. Thanks for this video!

    I have done hundreds of them on my Traeger. A Couple things - they come out insanely great. Also, to supercharge it, add a few pats of butter and sliced Anaheim peppers to the top before wrapping. Finally, when you take it off the cooker, vent the foil for about 5 or 10 minutes before putting in the cooler. It will keep the integrity of the bark better.

    One of the things I did on my pellet grill, a little larger than the one your using, I use a pizza stone over the fire box (AKA open pit to hell). I had to wrap it in foil because the heat actually cracked the stone in half, which make it fit better now. It works wonder for diffusing the heat in a much more controlled manner.

    I made this the other day too ! Came out awesome! I used the same dry rub and mustard, but I cook it fat side up so as it cooks and melts, it flavors the meat 🍖

    • @93redcamaroz28
      @93redcamaroz28 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fat side up dries it out. The thick layer of fat stops juice from running straight out the bottom so they have to bubble up and out to get out. If you wanna do fat side up I’d do it towards the end of the cook if you want to flip it and get it a little barky

    Been watching your videos for over a year now, and watched lots of the older ones, you are doing amazing things that keep me coming back! I normally do not wrap my Boston butt, but I think after watching this I will give it a go.
    I have a question about the Meater probe and it's connection:
    Pitmaster X, I have the basic model of Meater and wish I had the Plus. When I use the probe I found that I have to place a device right up against the grill to stay connected Bluetooth on a MB 560 gravity smoker. How far away can you keep your connected device with the plus? Or have I did something wrong with my setup? From my pc to smoker is less than 20 feet, but none of my modern mobile devices stay connected (always dropping out) via Bluetooth any farther than a couple of feet....? Just thought of something after watching the end of this video...does the base/charger need to be near the grill?

    I have a special rub just for pulled pork it’s equal parts of salt, chipotle powder, brown sugar, and ground sage, it’s awesome has the heat sweet and savory all in one rub and I would have to look at the recipe to tell you the bbq sauce part of it but it’s a North Carolina style pulled pork so it’s vinegar based with 6 jalapeños more brown sugar and a tablespoon of the rub and it gets simmered so I leave seeds and all in and it doesn’t have enough heat to keep the little ones from eating it

      Make a DIY smoker...cement blocks..2x3x4(break in half one for the bottom). Find some steel mesh that is not galvanized to fit. Place that between 3 and 4. Use another cement block to cover the bottom broken block. Most use a tin corrugated piece for a top. Walla! You have a grill/smoker for less than $40. That's what I grew up on, grand-dad cooking chicken over an open pit.

    • @uni-byte

      You can just use a regular propane BBQ. I've been doing it for years. Buy a pellet smoke tray/box/tube for the smoke, and light just one burner at the opposite side you put the pellet smoke tray for your heat and get a good multi probe thermometer. Total cost for the additional stuff, about $110 (US). The results are just as good if not better than a smoker (I know, I recently got a Traeger as a gift because I do so much smoked food) and just as easy. Cheaper on fuel too. I use an A-MAZE-N Pellet Smoker and an Inkbird IRF-4S thermometer. Look for them (or similar) on Amazon. Just make sure your smoke device can give about 5 hours of smoke and your thermometer let's you sit inside watchin the race or game while keeping an eye on the cook. 👍

    • @HellStorm666NL
      @HellStorm666NL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly what I thought.
      The manual of my smoker (and even the startup program of it) tells you to keep the lid open during startup. That way all the dirty bitter white smoke can go. After the white smoke is gone you can close the lid and add the meat.
