Such a neat game. I don't understand all interactions(especially when it comes to trash blocks turning into useable blocks) but it's still fun to play casually. It's nice to have this in NSO meaning more or less for free^-^
A simple explanation of Trash in PanePon: There are three kinds of trash; Combo trash, made by matching 4/5/6... blocks of the same type together, which drops small 3/4/5... (4-combo drops a 3, etc) block wide trash on the opponent respectively. Chain trash, made by chaining matches together with blocks that drop after a match is cleared, drop a giant block of solid trash based on how long your chain was. (2-chain drops a 1-thick bar, a 6-chain drops a 5-thick bar, etc) and Metal Trash, made by matching the metal "!" blocks Any trash blocks touching a block currently being cleared, or touching another trash block that is being converted (this chains all the way to the top of the play field, trash overflow isn't affected), are turned into blocks with the exception of Solid trash from chains. Any solid trash only has its bottom layer converted, the rest remains solid until the next time it's cleared. This means that two chunks of solid trash stacked will allow you to convert the bottom line of both on the first match, but they're now disconnected by the line of blocks created by the top bar of trash. Metal blocks are considered "different" kinds of trash, and only chain-convert with other Metal trash. This means running out of blocks is dangerous if you get a big chain dropped on you since you might run out of matches to keep digging. That's why people usually like to bump their stacks up when they aren't in danger of dying. (in addition to having options to build bigger chains with them) There could be more specific interactions I'm either not aware of, or have forgotten. It's been ages since I last played. Such a fun game though ^.^
Occasionally, you can have blocks converted in the middle of two large stacks that you can use to keep clearing, but it's rare and risky, since moving the cursor takes a lot of time. You usually want to keep it close to another match to keep stalling out your death and have more time to think. Also, pushing up your stack while your opponent is in the middle of a chain, or converting garbage, can be a life-saver since their trash doesn't drop until their chain does :)
It is way harder to explain than puyo puyo or tetris and also harder to execute, you can't just memorize patterns like in puyo or tetris. You gotta act depending on what you see on the board... i can try and explain the game tho
Even though you lost, you did well regardless. Versing a human player must be very different from a CPU Opponent. I only have the TA CPU and it is easy to beat even when I am always playing on Lvl 9 and CPU 7 is on Lvl 1. Making it to the quarterfinals is still good. Good job Doremy!
I didn't catch all of the cool stuff going on; that said, I was impressed by Bbforky's move at approx. 11:38. Rather than immediately completing the green triple, Bbforky lets some of the garbage down first, so that the green clear transforms more garbage (and thus gives Bbforky more time to prepare his field). Now that's a clever move!
The thing is, that it is way harder to get started on panel de pon. It is confusing seeing high level tetris for the first time, or even more confusing: seeing high level puyo for the first time. But to be honest, panel de pon is weirder.
I finished this game on hard and thought I was a master. I feel like a human martial artists after watching a battle between superheroes. I'm hanging the controller and doing something else with my life.
I had the Tetris Attack version but I wish I had this version (a lot more different colors for the garbage blocks, not only red and blue in Tetris Attack).
WHERE CAN I FIND PEOPLE TO PLAY THIS GAME WITH ME!!! Everyone I know that owns switch online could care less about puzzle games and usually just play smash, Pokemon, etc. I really love this game and I've played this a lot more than I expected. Anyways, is there a discord or something that I have to join to be able to play this game with other people?
Well, there's a discord server for panel attack (a fan game panel de pon game that has online) so maybe there is a discord for this one, or you could use the one that i mentioned earlier
Well, this was the original. They just pulled out a "Dr robotnik's mean bean machine" and renamed it, changed it's original characters for already existing one that were also famous, etc....
I remember playing this game when I was a kid On SNES and while I know I’d get my ass hard kicked by these guys, I would have loved playing against players like this instead of constantly playing single player modes. I wasn’t able to consistently pull of 5 chains from the start, nor could I get close to double digits on purpose without the help of garbage blocks, but I would love to try getting into this game sometime. Also love seeing this game played without slowdown like on my SNES.
My D-pad works but unless I can disable my joystick, it'll just keep flinging me around everywhere. It's THAT bad. The only game I can play is Animal Crossing, and even then I can't even put things where I want them without a substantial fight.
@@brain_cell level make clearing blocks faster, which give you less time to make chains also the topout delay is much shorter; instant topouts aren't so uncommon in level 10 and starting from level 9, a new color (dark blue) is added.
This is a "match 3" kind of game: you line up 3 (or more) icons of the same color to clear them. Move the cursor over two icons (or just one) and you can swap them at the press of a button. Garbage can only be cleared by matching icons that are adjacent to it; this will convert the garbage block back into icons.
Panel de pon gives me so many good memories of my past, This then leads me to feel very old
I never knew about this game, the version I grew up playing was Pokémon puzzle :))
P1: Doremy (left board)
P2: BBforky (right board)

yessss I just recently got into panel de pon so this is amazingly well timed lol
I didn't know this game could get so intense
That game was so fun, I even forgot about it
Panel De Pon!

I'm so happy!😭
Planet puzzle league sure sounds fun.
Yay more panel!

If you have a switch and are looking for someone to play vs let me know
Of all the times to have a switch with a broken joystick, it has to be when someone tempts me with a game from my past. Why must life be so cruel!?!
