A few people are actually buying cargo trailers and converting them to travel trailers, I guess maybe its cheaper that way sometimes but I think its more so to do with the horrible designs and materials that travel trailers are usually built out of, just buy a shell and design and build it how you want by getting a cargo trailer.
William Sevier that’s our current plan now put on hold until this virus stuff clears ... we’ve done a few trailer re-builds and figure a cargo trailer built exactly how we want it is the way to go
I love the fact that your modifications are fun. Camping shouldn't be all serious. It should be about having fun. Not being afraid to switch things out to do thing the way you want them. Never change Slim.
You can be proud of a clever use of space and a practical design. This is exactly the kind of skill that anybody who camps in an RV needs. The manufacturers need to hire more people with this kind of skill and spacial visualization. Nice job !
yep.I have a trailer with an oven. we take it to Nevada in fall. Never look at 100 degree heat and think hey let's bake a casserole in our trailer. Just want more cooler, storage or movement room. Redesign drawer closers modification ideas?
It’s your trailer and you need to set it up the way you want it Slim. We love your ingenuity and all your “outside the box” thinking! Your pellet stove build was amazing and repairing the old mandolin, including building special tools....priceless! I always loved making things out of leftovers 😊. Can’t wait to see your next step, and where your stovepipe is going to go🤔❤️
You remind me so much of my father. He never owned a RV or van that he didn't make major modifications to them. All of which made our units so much more livable.
This is genius! An indoor shower is so much better than a toilet for that size of space. I love the idea of using a sink as a small tub. I have no expectations on when you put videos out on the camper. Mine (‘88 Terry Resort 24ft) was done of the course of a couple years 😄 Most people don’t realize all the work, research, and behind the scenes stuff that has to be done on used campers until they actually do it.
Slim, your point at the end of the video is completely true. I modded one of those small 3/4 arcade cabinets. You've probably seen them in WalMarts. The reason was to play more games. I had no experience with woodworking, drilling or modifiying anything except a computer. In the end, I switched out all of the parts myself and drilled through the cabinet to place more buttons. Doing it myself, gave me a huge feeling of accomplishment. You are an inspiration to us all.
You amaze me (in a good way). My dad was so frugal and creative keeping our home and the farm equipment repaired. Now, my mom (and my siblings) weren’t too happy with some of his frugal household repairs. 😄 I did learn a lot. My siblings and I are pretty analytical and creative, when needed. Must be why I didn’t fall asleep during this video, as you forecasted. Thank you.
Not the least bit boring, Slim. Watching you innovate and personalize ol' Abner was one of the things that drew me to your channel originally, and it's great fun watching as you innovate and personalize your newly acquired Trillium Out Back trailer. Stay well, and keep posting your enjoyable, educational, entertaining videos.
I didn't find this video boring at all. Great process of modification planning. Gives me inspiration for repairing my truck camper after a tree chopped it in half.
Slim, I love it. Don't apologize for taking as long as you want. The only person you need to satisfy is yourself. Half the fun is doing the mods. Take your time and savor it!
Take your time and get it so you are happy with it. I have only seen videos of you traveling alone so you are the only one who has to be satisfied with it. Thanks for the videos.
Not as all boring - love what you are doing and the way you use remnants of what you already have and parts of what was originally present to make what you actually want! Not only ingenious design but also frugal to use things that already fit the area but modify the function to avoid waste. Kudos!
slim is a man who will adapt to the situation. All the campgrounds and hookups being closed for who knows how long and the parks shut it's only off grid crown land this year
My husband and I have never wanted a toilet in our camper but watching you take out that toilet just reconfirmed for us that decision! I know there are lots of people who do like to have them so I say more power to ya, but we'll just take a five gallon bucket and use it as long as the campgrounds let us.
What a great remodel!!! How much more useful for that space, well all those different spaces you have made more usable. I know most campers don't have enough good storage spaces and leave so much to be desired. You have made it all easier to use. I love the way you reuse the things that were already in there, and made it fit the spaces and made it look like it was already there. Good Job Slim!!! Very cool.
You are doing great. Thank you for showing the "boring" details. I never learn anything from videos like these portrayed in a timelapse. Showing the details helps others take from what you have done and apply these strategies to their own projects.
Keep up the good work. Its cold, and that make problems to enjoy all activities, Its your project. No other people will do it for you, and you are the one that will leave in the camper. Have a great week
I like your ingenuity and can appreciate the concept of compact usefulness. I often sleep in the back of my Prius during inclement weather or unsafe conditions instead of my tent.. Showers, lounging areas, storage space are the subjects of dreams. Your dreams come to fruition, mine just disappear with the sunrise.
I'm glad things are as usual for slim. I first started watching your videos back in the fall. I have to say they are some of the more relaxing videos I'll sit and watch with a coffee. Please keep doing your thing. Alot of the channels I follow are changing their ways whether they can help it or not. Stay true my friend, stay true.
Greetings Slim!🙋🏻♀️. Your ingenuity is just pure genius!😁. You’re practical which is good, you imagine what you want & need to get it done and your humor & personality is welcoming! With all the things going on in the world, there are some I would truly stand with, enjoy their friendship and have each other’s back and you are one of them! Keep strong, safe and Joyful up in Canada🇨🇦 and in all your travels! 💕Always, Carol
I love your vids cuz you are doing what I am doing. No manufacturer is making what I want so I am making my own from a shell. You said you did not want to spend time building out your own, you wanted to spend time actually camping, but now, you are building your camper to be what you want.
Wow....you are doing it. I know it’s way down the road but when you get your window balance changed to the red that matches your pillows, it will be a most awesome space. Have fun you only live once. Keep safe and enjoy you videos and your creativity.🚐
I love this guy!! Slim you saved me about $300 with this video. I was going to have custom bed cushions for my 1970 fiberglass trailer I'm rebuilding. I found some chase lounges that will work better for the space at a fraction of the price. Thank you sir!
I really dig this content. I think it is interesting to see people do things for themselves, and be as crafty, handy and self-reliant as possible. I like to see people do home grown engineering and building as it leads to a practical and utilitarian outcome. Love it ... so practical and versatile👍 I'm looking forward to see all the wonderful "outside the box" mods you'll be undertaking😁 Keep safe and stay healthy, Mr. Slim💖
That's a pretty slick mod. Thinking outside the box is a very valuable skill. Creative design and visualization on a napkin (or notebook) have resulted in many helpful inventions and ideas. I'm anxious to see how you'll be making the drawer. Have fun.
Yes, I must admit, virtually traveling with you on the open road is one of my favorite aspects of your channel. However, equally enjoyable is watching your well thought out modifications...no kidding. Not boring to me at all.
We all modify our RV's or vehicles to fit our personal needs I myself am modifying my family suv an 05 suburban for travelling and camping needs I took out all the back seats and now it's got more than enough room for me and my gear I made a bed and shelves and other thing that fit my personal needs, great job I love your videos keep'em coming.
Love the video. Its fun and satisfying seeing how you've figured out ways to make the trailer into what you want it to be. Brings back memories of growing up on the farm and all of our DIY projects to make something work or work better. You might do things differently than myself or your other viewers, but its YOUR trailer. I can't wait to see what comes next and where you'll take your maiden voyage! Keep up the great work.
It's awesome to see the custom shower content that launched this channel coming full circle and now being implemented in your new abode! I feel as though I've just witnessed the phoenix rising from the ashes of Abner! 🤣
Slim, this was a great video. When I saw the wash sink, I thought to myself that will never hold his weight and then you were standing in it. Please keep these rehab videos coming!!
Great video! And what's cool is the shots of you sitting at the table, the glow from the window and the two lights to the left and right kinda gave it a Star Trek vibe. Well I thought so. Can't wait to see part 2!
I find you at the light to watch and listen to. And yes I agree with you that we are a instant gratification. I blame it on microwave popcorn and instant coffee all the time LOL I look forward to seeing more of your Ingenuity on your little space. I hope that you're well and safe in these treacherous times we live in. Be well
I have never owned an RV of any kind that I haven't begun ripping stuff out of or changing it somehow to make it 'my own'. I don't think I could ever buy a new RV, because I'd do the same thing with it. Really looking forward to seeing the transformation of this little beauty, Slim!
Slim ,your videos are never boring besides we need stuff to take our minds off current events . Keep up the videos i always look forward to viewing them when they come out
What a wonderful shower. Love the lounge area and that it could also be a bed. That is truly thinking outside of the box. Like your videos. Have a safe and wonderful day
I watch BECAUSE of your ingenuity! You think outside the box (or fiberglass trailer 😜) I like your modifications and use of salvage materials and will hang around for each new piece you complete! Carry on and good luck!
That shower setup is going to be pretty nice once you get it finished, and you'll never know its there when you aren't using it...I like that idea, no wasted space in the trailer like every other travel trailer out there that has a room just for a shower/toilet. Your trailer is already extremely small, so all the space you can save and storage you can create in the process will just make it so much better for your needs. The old travel trailer I had, really was just a room on wheels to sleep in, but the structure itself was just too water damaged to salvage, it became a flatbed trailer LOL. I just use a tent if I want to go camping, or sleep in the back of my truck.
You make interesting, informative and entertaining videos in which you maximise the limited space you have, making it multifunctional to suit your needs and choices. You have excellent presentation and narration, lighting and sound, ensuring that your viewers can get the most from your videos. The only design, fit out and equipment choice that matters is yours, because this is your trailer and you'll be using it as you choose. You are considerate in explaining your decisions to include or exclude different aspects of the trailer (for example the water heater and the inbuilt toilet and black tank). Thank you for continuing to make these great videos, none of which have ever been boring (other than when you used your drill).
Slim...keep @ it, my friend. Your mind is always clicking along. It's kind of amazing. I don't understand it, but I don't need to. Can't wait to see your progress. Exciting times, Slim!!!
Enjoying your trailer makeover. I live off grid and for my shower I use a small gas jug with a shower hose attached - a lot more manageable than the shower bags out there. I thought something similar could be used above your shower, but then remembered you said something about a pump. Looking forward to Part 2
I think that is an ingenious use of that space, keeping that original cover just finishes it off perfectly. I have a scamp 13 myself and am always finding something to work on!
Well done Slim! I do enjoy your ingenuity and design, that corner is so much more useful, as well as that end of the camper! Looking forward to the next video!
I'm really enjoying these videos(especially since I'm looking at a vintage Trillium w/o a wet bath). When trying to figure out how I could put in a shower, I was shocked at the cost of a shower pan. I thought why wouldn't a laundry tub work... and behold that's what you used. I have lots of imagination, but not the skill set to carry it out. I appreciate your step by step demonstrations. Thanks.
Great. Video Slim. Part of what drew me to your channel was your inventiveness. We had just bight our used trailer. And then I got into your travelogues. Thank you.
Now you have us wanting to replace our aging popup camper with a fiberglass trailer! My wife used lawn chair cushions to replace the stinky old dinette cushions that came with our current trailer. They're cheap, comfortable, and easy to keep clean.
The longer it takes, all the better in my opinion. It means we get to see more of your great ideas. Great start to your modifications and ignore the haters 🌈
You are amazing, Slim. You do a lot of original designing & building. Hopefully your ideas will help other people if they happen to be as competent as you. Take care. Aloha
In my Avan, I replaced my table hinge with drop down shelf brackets. An MDF off cut on the wall was sufficient reinforcing. This change allowed me to have a flat floor & no need for a table leg. Cheap & win, win! The table has been strong & stable enough for normal use. Just a suggestion! Keep up the good work!
Ingenuity at its best. I too am a practical designer not with a caravan but with out buildings and active conversions, so just love watching your ideas. Personally your hair is like mine, my barber calls me a badger!! On your travels do you cut your own hair? No it is not always possible to lose height over age. At 21 I was 6'-2" and now at 71 I am the same!
Great job, Slim. Very satisfying to see ingenuity in action. Looking forward to the future videos, seeing the project in process, in stages, and not just a walk through in the end of the finished build. Only wish I had your skills.
Slim, you are so bright! I'm glad to have a Canadian heritage when I see how brilliant you are. It may be time to get rid of my A-liner and get an Egg. I'm waiting for the next video
As an older woman I would never have given up the throne. I would have transformed that whole area to a wet bath with floor to ceiling storage with the rest of the space. Of course I would've never changed up the kitchen area. Like you said though you're the one who has to live in it. Good luck with the rest of the renovation. Stay in and stay safe.
So glad to see you adapting it to be what it needs to be for you to get the most use and enjoyment out of it. I particularly like your focus on multi-functionality. And thanks for sharing the process of the trailer make-over with us.
Slim’s personality and his DIY reminds me of the red green show.
This is what I want to see -- what it takes to make a travel trailer livable. Keep going. You're doing just fine.

On using you as a designer
Yes, I like Slim's designs better than what comes from the factory. Slim builds things for how you actually live.
David Swatscheno yeah really. He needs to patent the stove he made for his previous trailer.
It’s your trailer and you need to set it up the way you want it Slim. We love your ingenuity and all your “outside the box” thinking! Speaking for myself, I just like “hanging out” with you, whatever you’re up to. Enjoy how you problem solve, and your POV which is always creative.

It's neat how you can repurposed the old trim. The knowledge you bestow on your channel is awesome.
slim is a man who will adapt to the situation. All the campgrounds and hookups being closed for who knows how long and the parks shut it's only off grid crown land this year
Life would be boring without Slim's modifications of his trailer. Love these videos! Someone wake me up, Not!
Not boring at all! These are my favorite types of videos.

Toilets are indeed icky. You make construction look easy and fun. I am impressed.
Very clever. Can't wait to see how you complete that shower build.
I found it interesting. Your ingenuity seems to be working quite well. Nice design. I await seeing how the final shower arrangement works.

Great. Video Slim. Part of what drew me to your channel was your inventiveness. We had just bight our used trailer. And then I got into your travelogues. Thank you.
Being a craftsman takes time and it's a true art. 🤗💖
Take care. Aloha
Loved it! I'm currently renovating a truck camper and this video has given me some great inspiration. Thanks.
Great idea using a laundry sink!
Slim, you art truly a clever guy. I enjoy seeing what you come up with. Can’t wait to see the end result! ❤️
I love your ‘boring’ videos - you make me understand what is possible. 🙂. Cheers from Victoria
Great job, Slim. Very satisfying to see ingenuity in action. Looking forward to the future videos, seeing the project in process, in stages, and not just a walk through in the end of the finished build. Only wish I had your skills.
you are the boss of your own screwdriver - great work Slim
Your make over is cool. I enjoy your ingenuity that works for you. Stay safe and wash your hands.
Love ur "own touch" videos. Thanks for taking us along.
I like how you take one area and make it multi functional!!! Keep up the good work...
Work Work Work.......so you can Travel Travel Travel.....comfortably!!! Good luck on this new chapter of your travels and adventures Slim!!!
Wow, you're so creative. So multifunctional.
