Sorry guys, but y'all didn't do a very good job with this demo; especially after watching the ProGuitarShop and Fuzzrocious videos over this pedal. Definitely feel like this video does not do this pedal justice.
I have this pedal and as noted by others, this review makes it sound awful. It's really a fantastic bass distortion pedal. Watch the Pro Guitar Shop demo.
This almost just seems like a failure in not understanding the controls. Dry is a clean blend VOLUME that can go BEYOND UNITY. Wet is Just another VOLUME knob. You also don't address the volume jump from switching from silicone to LED (or the fact that there is a control inside of the pedal that lets you get them down to the same volume. the classic tone circuit is the same circuit that got Fuzzrocious to the level of awesomeness that it is at today.
I'm using the M181 Blow Torch. Does anyone know of a noticeable difference in the M85 and the 181? I can't test out an 85 in a store anywhere near me. From just listening, I think the Blow Torch is a bit hotter. Any inputs?
Is this review purposefully trying to badmouth Fuzzrocious Pedals? I didn't need to watch past "I've been playing bass for a long, long time; I've never heard this tone circuit that they refer to" to know this guy has no idea what he's doing (which is a shame, as he's usually a pretty decent Rig Rundown guy and did Jesse Keeler of DFA's Rig Rundown very well). If you think this pedal sucks from watching this video, then rest assured; it does not suck at all. Watch the Pro Guitar Shop demo where Andy knows more about the pedal and the bass in general as a finger-style guitarist. He gets some really great tones with it, much better than what's being showcased here.
the problem with distortions on bass is that they always makes loose the the low end . i think the boss MT2 is a better distortion for bass due to its 3 band EQ
+Gab quintana There's really no point in trying to save the low-end with a post distortion EQ. What you need is the lows of the clean signal, hence the blend/dry control. Also in my personal opinion the MT2 sounds awful on any instrument...if it works for you, that's obviously fine.

+Patrick Hunter Totally agree. Got it about a month ago and it doesn't sound nearly as shitty as this.
Patrick I love your darkglass reviews!!
+Julio Campos Thank you!!! I really appreciate that!
+Patrick Hunter hey patrick a question. I want to buy an overdrive pedal but my budget is low. Wich one do you think i can get?
+Julio Campos What's your budget?
Input gain and unity gain... that's a thing, PG.
This review does the pedal no justice.
Very good review, thanks for walking through the gain stages and letting the pedal explain itself🤘nice !
Sounds like opening a suitcase full of farts after it's spent two weeks in Mexico.
+Blech319 Not really, to me it sounds more like dirty underwear with skid marks being shaken around inside a suitcase after 2 weeks in Indonesia.

please! put a bass player to demo a bass product...

This pedal sounds like farting while simultaneously banging pots and pans together.
what yamaha bass is that?
You guys should take this down, it's an embarrassment.
MXR should seriously sure you, PG.
Boo. PG recommended? Hmm. Maybe PG really doesn't know bass players.
great i was thinking about speaker had problems
Sounds crappier than the arion bass distortion I purchased in 1996... I'm pretty sure this little box can do better than this
"Gross" is the only word that comes to mind.
Sounds like the batteries are low.

sounds like a broken amp
And that's why we love it
Sounds like a WET fart!
More like bass FUZZ than a distortion!
