      You made a proper choice; this bike really shines, imo! It’s confidence inspiring and I like it more and more every ride. Enjoy! 💪

    Thanks to your videos I am now the proud owner of a 2021 Norco torrent s1. I went for s1 since I love the spec on it because I will not have to upgrade anything on it for a very long time so I think it's worth the extra money. Plus the prices actually went down this year and was able to pick it up for only 100$ more than last year's S2 build.

    Do you think the aluminum version would have held up just as well?

    • @JoeX96
      @JoeX96  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The aluminum frame would hold up, I’m sure. Would aluminum hold up just as well as steel? Probably not, especially over time.. Aluminum weakens with use, making it more prone to eventually breaking and will transmit more vibration to the rider compared to steel, as it’s more brittle. Two big selling points of steel frames are durability and compliance. Steel can take repeated hard hits and maintain structural strength. Also, steel will “deaden” vibrations and smooth out some harshness you’ll feel on a hardtail. Overall, steel frames will provide more comfort, durability and safety to the rider compared to an aluminum counterpart. This is not to say aluminum is bad; I’d have no issue running an aluminum frame, personally. There are pros and cons to both material types. Regardless of what my frame is made of .. I’m sending it 🤙

    So I've ridden hard tail MTBs for 15 years as a teen/young adult. Now 30 and finally did Downhill at blue mountain on a rental. I had some decent confidence by end of day but felt bored by end of day doing most of the blue trails. Is this the bike for me? I feel like the hardtail life is the life for me. the rear suspension kept bucking me over the jumps and drops.

    • @JoeX96
      @JoeX96  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say hardtails with more slacked out geo are surprisingly stable when riding dh trails. If you want a hardtail to take to bike parks, these are a great option

      Hey, this is random question but what do they have in their rental fleet? I’m planning to go this year and was wondering what they rent out and how the conditions are. I’m size large if that matters.

    Man that was intense. I am surprised that you didn't go otb casing the road gap at that speed. Also would you even attempt to do those black trails on your gt? Lol

    • @JoeX96
      @JoeX96  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve taken the GT down those trails a couple of times, just at a much slower speed. The GT is more of an XC bike so it’s super sketchy riding rocky dh trails

    • @Srdeo33
      @Srdeo33 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, i have seen someone case that road gap and go OTB and pretty much became airborne for 30ft. then roll another 30ft. Even attempting that gap with hardtail is pretty crazy. I dunno why they put that hump on the landing. it is like a launching pad for the rear wheel if you case. How is Formula compared to Miles of Smiles? Tougher?

    • @s14tat
      @s14tat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Srdeo33 yeah that case looked rough. I remember being thrown off my bike casing a decent sized jump and it sent me into the drainage ditch lol.

    • @JoeX96
      @JoeX96  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Srdeo33 that’s craaaazy! Yeah they could easily improve that road gap.. Formula and miles of smiles are my two favorite trails up at Blue Mtn. They’re similar in terms of difficulty, I’d say.
