    Thank you, Father Casey, for your candor regarding your thoughts on romantic love, marriage, and how such thoughts have led you, from time to time, to fantasize about leaving the priesthood. It is nice for laypersons to see that priests struggle with so many of the same temptations that we do. Granted, on an intellectual level, we know that you are human, but many laypeople still see those in religious orders to be of a different breed - as if you have some level of moral strength that is beyond us laypeople and self-restraint that is preternatural. Conveying that those in religious life share the same failings and tribulations as the laity makes you not only more relatable, but also more credible.

      ...in an earlier video he spoke of a specific woman with whom he'd interacted & "fallen in love."
      And then...did nothing. She moved away, unaware of this.
      He did mention that she'd gotten engaged, so his ears were - at least briefly - alert to news.
      Then....nothing happened. As he says in this video - he's committed to letting the fleeting thoughts of couple-hood be just that. Fleeting.
      💔

      It sounds to me as the same thing as being married and not following through with infatuations. When we get married we don’t stop being attracted to other people. I wouldn’t call it falling in love though but more like platonic infatuations. I can see a priest going through the same thing and choosing vocation just like a married person would choose their marriage over their infatuation.

    Fr. Casey - I am friends with a retired bishop who is a member of a religious order. He was asked twice to become a bishop, and both times said no. The third time, he was ordered as a matter of obedience by the Holy Father to accept. So, yes, you can say no, but you might end up a bishop anyways.

    Well actually I am autistic and from my experience as long as someone that wishes to be in the ministry does not have too much difficulty in day-to-day activities. It actually could open a door up for a priest to be autistic. At least with other neurodivergent people. On my own life is hard to connect with neurotypicals but the thing is at least for some people like myself it'd be easier to listen to someone who's neurodivergent than someone who's neurotypical because I've been hurt by neurotypical people who don't understand the neurodivergent experience.

      If I'm not mistaken, R.C. priests are allowed to marry but cannot perform certain tasks like hearing confessions & other.

    • @paologat
      @paologat 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Priests can, under serious circumstances, request to be dismissed from the clerical state and thus be released from the promises of celibacy and obedience that they made when they were ordained.
      If the request is granted, then they can get married; they remain priests, as the effects of ordination are permanent, but they can no longer exercise their ministry.

    • @Being_Joe
      @Being_Joe 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ no, RC Priest can't marry, but as you mentioned there are cases where married Priest from other Churches/Orders "transfer" and continue to be married. A married man can also become a Deacon but a unmarried Deacon can't get married once he is a Deacon. A married man may become a Priest if he is widowed.

    • @BreakingInTheHabit
      @BreakingInTheHabit  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      This comes with great penalties, limiting what one can do in the church. A former priest can never teach or take an active role in parish life. To say they can leave and get married is technically true, but it is not a real option. It is only tolerated.

    What if you fall in love?
    All true Christians do fall in love. It part of the process of becoming christian, and deepening the devotion. We love Christ our Lord, Savior, and God. Because He first loved us. And we come to love other Christians, and even those who hate Christ because of our love for Christ. He leads us, if we're following correctly, to demonstrate His character in our lives.
    So I say a person who has dedicated their life to serving others who does not feel compassion, pity, and love. They may need to reevaluate their motivations.

    We need father casey. But a real catholic identity St Francisco. St Clare. Things I don't like that we catholic that have history of our enemies. Error of catholics is think you don't have one Enemies pretending to be friends with them! The crusades are not over brother... And we are loosing all battles. Abortion lost. Everything is legal its not the European catholic 100. Remember "Europe real name" was called "the land of the Christians" meaning 'catholic". So yes... If you give history of the Enemy yes... You guessed it you are hurting and helping the Enemies. ¿Never ask why Ireland is loosing the battle of America way sold as the best way of life? Its not. Its Jesus Christ our lord in the form of brothers. Love to all.❤❤❤

    Every is allowed to fall in love. So if ever u do Father Casey deside to leave the order because you've met someone really speacial, God will understand and wish u the best of luck. Love is *THE* most powerful force in the universe.
    Farther Casey, I have 2 ideas if u were to make separate videos on please. "What the religious order relation is like with the military?", and talk about the history of the apostle St. Blaise: Patron saint of wool combers, wild animals, candle makers and ailments of the throat

      I’m going to have to disagree with you. Why would God wish me the “best of luck” for breaking my vows to him? For creating scandal? The idea that “love is the most powerful force in the universe” is a very secular understanding of love. Yes, love is that force, but as self-sacrifice and commitment, not as following passions and abandoning responsibilities.

      @@BreakingInTheHabit Only from watching Touched By An Angel, haven't seen it in years, but from what I remember, God is full of compassion, love, wisdom, understanding to the core center, and mercy. That's why I think he would wish u well. I know that's just a tv show. But its very moving to the heart. We'll know what his character really is like when we meet; hopfully from old age, u and I r both young. We humans will always b limited.
      P.S. I had no idea those in holy service play DnD.

      Yes, the Ukrainian rite allows priests to get married, but not the Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankara rites of Kerala, India. Our priests are also celibate. In fact, most of the 22 rites follow the vow of celibacy.
