Thanks for another great video with lots of content. It was interesting to turn left out of the Zimmerberg Base tunnel for the first time and see a familiar area from a very different angle. The new Bözberg tunnel looks to be making good progress.
Danke für die Aufklärung "Red Bull Train". Habe mich immer gefragt was die Ganzzüge (39 oder 40 Wagen) mit DB 185 transportieren. Wohne in Schlieren direkt neben Bahntrassee.
I remember a UK advertising slogan for this beverage - 'Red Bull gives you wings'. Am I the only one to be bitterly disapointed that not even a full load of the stuff could get the train soaring above the Alps?

Weiß jemand, wofür diese Konstruktion gedacht ist? Das Video ist großartig - danke auch für die Nennung der Orte sowie der abzweigenden Strecken. Da steckt sehr viel Arbeit drin! Before your departure from Buchs, in the near track a train with swiss re420 and austrian OBB coaches pass you on the right. I see there are night coaches and also a pair of coaches that i think are from Slovenia or Hungary. Can you tell me which EuroNight/NightJet is that? Thanks in advance and good job for providing us these great videos
BEAUTIFUL ride, especially the first half hour between Buchs SG and Sargans. That's a stretch of Kanton St. Gallen one doesn't see very often. I hope we can see more of it in the future! Question for you: a few minutes into the ride the track diverges and the branch to the left you indicate heads to "Schaan - Vaduz" in Liechtenstein. How much railway is there through Liechtenstein, and is there any passenger rail service to the country from Switzerland (at least to Vaduz, the capital)? For some strange reason I was under the impression that little Liechtenstein was without railways. As always, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR WHAT YOU DO!
Thanks for another great trip. I missed the start as I slept in. 6.00am in New Zealand. Watched the end of the trip on our smart TV and followed your progress on a laptop using google maps. A great way of seeing where you are. Have since watched the whole trip. Was the train formation made up of the standard Hbbillns, 2 axle high sliding wall vans, or the Habbiillns 4 axle boige sliding wall vans. Are the formations used to bring freight back to Switzerland or do they return empty. Finally is the factory that makes the Red Bull drink in Buchs.
This all came from Rauch Widnau and is then shunted in two parts to make a complete train. That is not part of my operation, I take the train from Buchs, as you can see in the video.
@@RailwayEmotions Thanks very much for the clarification. On topo map.geo.admin.ch, I see the spur to the Rexam facility (owned now by Ball Corp.), from Widnau station. I can't really follow your point, it's not like we do something extraordinary here, it's pretty comparable to the rest of Europe. Most people live in flats, usually clearly visible from outside how the house is built.
Another super video, thank you. Especially enjoyed travelling throught the marshalling yards in Zurich and the close encounter at Wettingen! A question please about the sounds of the BR 185 - it sounds like Darth Vader is in the cab, what is that unusual noise?
Saw this almost as soon as you posted, so much to take in, so took a while to respond. Amused to see your comment elsewhere about the origin of the train - is the load brought in small portions by rail from Widnau or are all the pallets trucked in and loaded in Buchs? Shame about the US policy, Rauch appears to have rail access to its main plant in Ludesch /Nüziders. When was the loop at Sargans built? I travelled from Innsbruck in the early '70s and, at that time, when heading for Zürich, the train would go straight through and reverse South of the station before stopping in a platform - when I repeated this route in 1990, the loop was in place. Finally, did you find it frustrating that you were held in RBL for however long it was and yet you were stopped again in Killwangen platform? Would it have hurt the regulator to keep you in RBL a minute or two longer, so you could keep rolling? Thanks for sharing so many unique experiences \m/
The train is shunted in two parts directly from the factory, no trucks involved. The loop was built in the early 80s and is frequently used by night trains, Railjets, EuroCitys and freight trains like this one. Quite often, freight trains run ahead of schedule, so they're already through some neuralgic points. But this can cause an extra stop or two that were not planned.Stopping in cargo operations is just normal and not frustrating. ;-)
