What is your favorite campground in the San Bernadino mountains? This one looks really nice and sits right on a lake. But it's not really that highly rated. Dogwood, Serrano, etc all have better ratings. I wonder why.
There are some good campgrounds up in the San Bernardino Mountains. Serrano is really nice - close to Big Bear Lake, and Dogwood is near Arrowhead. Silverwood is pretty good too - being near the Lake Silverwood. Holcomb Valley is quiet and peaceful with great hiking and mountain biking. There are many others, perhaps others can comment as well.
Hi Christy, There are a number of campsites with good sized parking spurs (up to 31 feet). Campsites 96 to 136 are full hookups (50-amp), with parking pads that are 20 feet wide and 30 feet long. These would probably be your best bet.
Hello! This is great info. I'm looking into booking soon. Which camp area is closest to the lake? Would that be Old Mesa? Looking at campsites 16, 18, and 20. Thank you
Hi VStarChick, Campsites 16, 18 and 20 are nice, with #20 being one of our favorites (location/size/privacy). All are located in 'Old Mesa' campground. As the crow flies those campsites are about 340 feet from the water, but you can't access the water directly from the campsites. You'll need to drive to the day-use areas and/or take the bike trail (which is close to sites 16, 18 and 20).
Campsite #91 has a pad length of 32 feet (back in and mostly level) and has some nice room between neighbors. You can have up to 3 vehicles and 8 people at that site. It also has some trees/bushes that add to the privacy. It has a table, fire ring and grill near the pad. There's also room for a tent (tent pad 9x11).
Watch your vehicles if you leave to hike or fish, roaming thieves in that area that will shatter windows and snatch and grab whatever is in plain sight.
Thank you very much for the information! We are planning to go there. The information is helpful!
Glad it was helpful and have fun at Silverwood!

Hello there. Which space would you recommend for boat and truck. To leave hooked up. Thank you. Great video.
Thanks Christy! I'll give your question some thought and get back to you asap.

Thank you, can I fit 2 tents ?
Do all campsites have grills and fire pits ?
Yes, they all have a fire pit/ring and grill.
Hi there! Is there a piped water close to sites 32-35?
Hi Grace, I'm not sure if there is a water spigot close to campsites 32-35, but there are bathrooms (with showers) near those campsites.

Thanks for info on roaming thieves in the area.
