    Close misses can be indescribably frustrating, especially when there’s no repercussions for the driver. I think it’s important to give yourself ever chance by wearing bright kit, daytime running lights and something I’ve been turned onto recently is a bar end mirror. I also sometimes watch another channel called “CyclingMikey” to get out some frustration, you’ll know what I mean if you have a look

      So frustrating. Ahh I’ll check it out thanks so much! 😂

    Why why why are SOME car drivers so damn impatient to save a few seconds, I only road ride & nearly every ride has some kind of issue , don’t let one idiot dent your confidence, I use a Varia & Raveman FR160 on front it gives you no guarantees but just makes your presence & gives you an awareness on your head unit , stay safe keep riding hope you’re enjoying that new bike 👍

      Some absolute plonkers aren’t there. It won’t stop me, just irritated me to wobble confidence and know it happens all the time to fellow cyclists! Not ok!

    Some drivers are mental and it's so dangerous out there! I love your pup, what breed?

    Sounds scary, I had it happen to me while driving which was bad enough, hope it hasn't put you off

      Just so silly isn’t it. So impatient! No no I refuse to let it. I felt shaken on the day, but I’ve been back out since!

    I had a similarly egregious pass that prompted me to invest in a safety camera, The camera is as much for me in the moment as it is to capture and report dangerous driving. It moderates my reaction as I think I can leave it to the police to deal with. The more motorists think cyclists run cameras the more careful they'll be around them. The cam I got is the Cyclic front one. Quite pricey but very simple and easy to use and upload.

    Hope you are ok 👌

      Was so lucky tbh! Just irritates me that we still seem to have interactions like this! Thanks for watching. Back on the roads!

    Broke my shoulder some 12 weeks ago after a driver decided that getting to a red traffic light was more important than the 1.5-metre gap he should have left before overtaking. Clipped by his mirror and hit the floor. 5 seconds of madness has got him a court date, my insurance company on his back and an increase in his own car insurance payments. Just to sit in his car at a red light which had an advanced stop line.

      Oh my goodness that’s awful I’m so sorry to read this. I’m glad the driver got caught for their actions and hope you’re recovering ok?

      @@Pelohun Thankfully down to a great Physio I haven't needed an operation despite it being a displaced break and managed to get back on the bike within 10 weeks. I had to get back on it then otherwise I wouldn't have. Still get pain when it's cold like now, but I am so lucky.

    I hope you are ok. I live in the Rhondda valleys and the roads are tight, add idiot drivers and it can be interesting.

    I live in the US in one the top 5 worst states to ride a bike in. This past Saturday I had a guy close pass me doing around 45 mph plus and he honked his horn at me. It was a main road but I only needed to be on it .7 of a mile. His mirror almost hit me. He had plenty of room to go around. I was only about 500 feet from my turn. I usually just yell out "I still love you!" but this guy really made me mad. My blood was boiling. He turned down the same way I was going so I went after him. I went all the way to bottom of the hill to the gas station but he wasn't there. So I climbed back up the road and made turn onto another road to head back on my route. I found him about a mile down the road at the garbage dump so I confronted him. His bark was definitely bigger than his bite. It wasn't my best moment but I had enough.
    It's not the first time I've confronted someone and it's always the same. Generally when I do confront someone I try to have a rational conversation with them and it's always ends with them apologizing.

    • @Pelohun
      @Pelohun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Argh so sorry to read this! I do find that the rational conversation really does work. As soon as you explain something to someone they get it! Especially things like pointing out that we can’t always be tucked over (potholes cars can’t see, road surfaces etc). Then they see your point of view. Just annoys me that it happens so often and not everyone has the chance to have a conversation about it.

    You really need to do a video on how to keep a white dog white. 😁Mine was white when freshly bathed but that would last maybe 15 minutes other than during of the dryness of mid-summer. Pretty sure he'd run outside and roll on the ground just to mess with my head. As for drivers, yes, well sadly we all encounter arrogance and stupidity too often out on the roads Kate. As you said, eyes wide open with lights and radar on. - Bob (Toronto, Canada)

    • @Pelohun
      @Pelohun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha! Honestly he doesn’t stay white - sometimes he’s the filthiest pup but I love it! Takes a lot of brushing!

    Afraid this country is full of impatient people, had many incidents like this over the years its as though they see the bike and not the person. To many cars on road and to many lazy people who would drive a mile rather than walk.

      @@Pelohun oh yes, me too, I regularly encounter very considerate drivers whilst I'm cycling and I always make sure that I give them a cheery wave. Unfortunately it tends to be the close-pass morons who I remember the most, and I'm old enough to have seen the change in motorists attitudes over the last three decades.
      Still, it hasn't put you off so no harm done 🙂🚴‍♂️👍
      Nice sunset btw!

    I was hit from behind by a large pickup truck in December. There was another lane for the truck to go around me but he didn’t. His very large side mirror hit me in the back breaking ribs and my shoulder and causing me to crash in the roadway behind his truck. He turned around and drove past a second time but didn’t stop. Fortunately, he called the police later to report the accident. I ride with headlight, taillight, and bright colors every ride. The sun was behind us so I was illuminated well. There was no reason for the driver to hit me other than gross negligence.
    I’ve ridden well over 100,000 miles (if not 200,000) in my life and never had a single issue until now. It is absolutely infuriating that people are so careless when they drive.

    • @Pelohun
      @Pelohun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my goodness I am so sorry to read that. It’s so infuriating that people don’t take care. I found my safest feeling ride was a night ride I did a few weeks ago because the drivers couldn’t see enough to even take a risk. I was lit up like a Christmas tree but because it was dark country lanes, they didn’t even attempt it. And id been most nervous about that ride.
      I hope you’re doing ok and feeling alright? And recovering? Hope it doesn’t put you off.

  • @Neilhuny
    @Neilhuny ปีที่แล้ว

    Frikking hell!!! I hate drivers like that! I've been in the situation where I really badly want to get past someone but you cannot put others at risk!
    99% of cyclists are also car drivers, I guess, and I strongly suspect that we are all better drivers, or more considerate at least, as a result.
    Some drivers genuinely seem to hate cyclists and regard them/us as the anti-christ or something else hideous/unnecessary/evil. Other than *MAKING* them cycle for a week, to the shops, work, school - wherever - I don't know what the solution is.

    • @Pelohun
      @Pelohun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly don’t know why people can’t just be a bit more patient! Just a couple of seconds and life can crack on 😂
