Conductor On BNSF Locomotive Waves To Me! Bouncy RR Bridge Fast Train, Depot Update & Train With DPU

- Train Diverging At Interchange. Whose Railroad Is It Anyway?! BNSF & Union Pacific Locomotives On CSX Tracks Pulling Norfolk Southern Train! Bouncy Railroad Bridge Does Its Dance. Train Station Update & BIG Train With DPU Locomotive In The Middle. These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio and the nearby area. Union Pacific Railroad locomotives are on 2 Norfolk Southern trains.
First, we see a grain train exiting the CSX main line onto the Norfolk Southern main line. The train is seen diverging at the railroad interchange. BNSF and UP power are leading the Norfolk Southern train on its way to Gest Street Yard in Cincinnati, Ohio. The conductor gives me a nice wave. That was awesome!
Then we see the train station that was moved. This is an update and shows where the station was moved from and to.
Next we go to the bouncy bridge to watch a fast train pass over it. Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern locomotives lead the train as it books on by. It's always a fan favourite to watch the bridge bounce and dance. Lol.
The final train is a huge train CSX mixed freight with CSX locomotives on the front and in the middle. That train had about everything on it. Don't forget to watch Norfie and the slide show at the end. It was an awesome day in Hamilton, Ohio. That was one long heavy train. I kind of expected another DPU on the rear. There were lots of steel cars on there. I love seeing those huge steel plates on the flat cars. Nice catch! 😊

I think you know I usually count cars, but that last train had me lose the count at some point, so now I'll have to watch it AGAIN and get that number! Every time I see a long train, it gets me thinking about coupler and drawbar strength, never mind locomotive pulling power. Then there's tractive effort and wheel slip factors as well. Can you imagine the stress on the locomotive coupler, especially on an uphill incline? WOW!
Love the sound of the DPU. Sure earning it's money today. I'm amazed at the amount of steel on there! 😊😊

Foreign power these days is more common than home power. Last week NS 68N passed my house with 6 locomotives, only one was NS. The other 5 were 2 UP, 1 KCS, 1 KCSM, and 1 CP.
All of those autoracks were bi-level ones.

I just read a blurb in Classic Trains magazine about the Hamilton train station being moved. It said that at least four US presidents have visited the station.

It's true what you said about others saying it's a deal but not a big deal.
For me it's right on the line.
M of W are usually good but it's rare that they would stake out your perspective in an inspection.

Thank you for going back to Hamilton, Ohio on 4 May 2023 to capture these trains, Jaw Tooth! The DPU in that last train at Hamilton, Ohio was working hard as it went past you. The train going across the bouncy bridge was making the bridge bounce. Thank you for the update on the former Baltimore & Ohio Depot at Hamilton, Ohio. There does not seem to be much progress in working on putting the two parts of the depot together.
Great video JT. Looks like it was beautiful weather for watching trains. Cool catch of that BNSF and UP Locos leading, train sounded musical as it clicky clacked over those points.

I understand that bridges flex slightly under load but I can’t imagine that the see-saw motion of that bridge is normal or good for the life expectancy of the rail or ties. Any bridge engineers out there?

They got some bad rails clacking on that track. The train we rode here had the same problem. It is annoying. You did good filming this video. Railroads need to be better maintained for the busy rail traffic these days. I love watching trains. Thanks.😊

Depends more on the size of the coils than the car. A car carries about 100 tons, which is three or four large coils or six or seven smaller ones. Same thing with, e.g., covered hoppers -- heavier product goes in smaller cars, so the total loading is about 100 tons.
