Check their research: their first plant was literally firefly genes into tobacco, which is the most studied plant genetics (weird right?). For this they put foxfire fungus into petunia, which is a close relative & petunia actually translates to "false tobacco". Bamboo is a entirely different plant. Other Solanacae like potato, tomato, eggplant, etc are totally fair game tho!

Ordered mine last day available july 7th, looked pretty bad when i got them from all the heat but they're looking better next day.
My question is how you're keeping yours alive over the Texas summer? Here in Arizona it's even hotter of course, but also drier because the monsoon is turning into another "non-soon". Local nursery says petunias have to wait until highs drop below 100F which is October at earliest! Mean time, how do I keep them relatively happy inside?
FWIW I tried to email them about seeds but never got a reply. It's like they shut down for the summer.
Update Sat July 13th: looks like at least 3 are dying & not recovering as I looked at them this morning. Will hunt for new pots & soil tonight, maybe Moon Juice since it's made for this, but they look like goners. :( I hope I'm wrong!
Plus side, I saw glow on the soil surface of another pot, thought it was a fallen flower or root but it wouldn't come out: luckily I didn't pull too hard because it appears to be a healthy seedling just emerging when I looked in the light! So I got 11+ instead of 10 plants (haven't checked the other pots), minus any that may die. Silver lining.

Mine also came half dead from shipping, and 2 of my three look to be goners. One his hanging in there barely. Did you see better health once you moved them to the different soil and pot?

Got mine last day avail July 7th for $29 free ship 3+ plants or 10% off aka buy 9 get 1 free (which is what I did). Tried to email about seeds instead but no reply.
FWIW I've literally been waiting my entire life for something like this, so I couldn't wait until next year! I've tried to grow bioluminescent bacteria but my green thumb doesn't extend to those. I saw some mushrooms on Amazon but the reviews are mixed. In any case none of these are native to the deserts.

I want to know what kind of fungus they have? Researching it🌼 Thank you so much🌼

Neonothopanus nambi from Google search from the scientific American article, not hard to find. Rather common foxfire mushroom. As to why, read the paper but tl;dr the fungal chemical pathways match plant ones so this was much easier & brighter than the previous one with animal (firefly) genes

You did this video way better than I was going to. :)
I think part of that is just that I need to work on my petunia skills. Mine is looking pretty rough right now.
