What are your thoughts about this ice cooler air conditioner? How important is the build “price” for one of these? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.⤵️

I made something similar but added rock salt, the kind you use to make homemade ice-cream. It keeps the ice colder, longer.

those fly cutters for making holes are best done in a drill press. one side can catch and try and throw the hand held drill.

8:01 shut the garage, and run it and see how much cooling it can do! Also use frozen coke bottles.

Cool video sir. I'm considering building myself one for camping so thank you for the tips. I've given you a subscription and will watch some of your other videos. You seem like a nice guy too!

Mr. Fred, We look forward to your comparison video. As you have previously built a heat exchange model using a radiator, I wonder if you have found this simpler design to be superior in performance or preferable for other reasons.

Ice capacity with surface area and fan speed seem to be important factors! Here is a good comparison video ▶️th-cam.com/video/-ssSvss5woE/w-d-xo.html

@@MrFredsDIY Thank you for all the excellent info. I think given all the factors, I'm going to try to make the build shown on your "DIY Ice Cooler Air Conditioners (2023)" video. Great channel and presentation sir.

Good luck with your build! I’m taking that one camping this weekend! The USB fan has a low draw so it will last a long time.

I'd punch some holes in your aluminum tube or something similar. One, to suck in cold air further away from the fan. Two, on case that melts enough it is mostly water the hose can be submersed and the fan could push water up the hose.
I'm going to build one but replace all of that ice with frozen drinking water. My RV freezer can freeze two at a time to add in as I use up the half frozen bottles inside. Maybe burying the aluminum hose between frozen bottles.
How many hours can your fan hold a charge?

Which cooler design lasted the longest and is your best ?

What is the CFM coming out of the cooler?

If the aluminium conducts cold would it have been better to snake the aluminium tube inside the cooler, cover it in ice and 1-2 inches of cold water? The warm/hot air from the fan then is not blowing on the ice melting it. Should last longer?

@@MrFredsDIY no worries. Also if space allows in your freezer, mix iodised salt in with the water as it reduces the temperature at which it will freeze, thus providing colder ice which will stay frozen for longer.

Nice build, but could you tell 7s exactly the maker of the fan you chose to use in this very build. Thank you.

5:25 did that work? I would think that's an added expense, and restriction too??

I think it helps to draw air from closer to the ice, at least in theory! Thanks for writing!

*How long does the ice last in it?*

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

It really depends on the outside temperature. When it is really hot, only a few hours.

@MrFredsDIY *I'd need something that could last at least 9-10 hours in a camper van over night.*
