I'ma be honest, this is the hardest I've laughed in a Game the Game in a WHILE. There was a lot of great chemistry at this table, and most of the jokes were on point! Almost gave a bit of a Tabletop vibe with how much fun people were having without worrying about winning too much, likely due to the "press your luck" aspect of the game. I'd love to seem more guests like this in the future, this is quite possibly one of the best episodes of modern Game the Game thus far. (imo)
It's episodes like this that reminds me how good Becca is at explaining how games work and how much fun can be had, when you play a game to play a game and not necessarily to win. Lately I haven't even gotten through the explanation of the game's rules before I changed the video, this one as different and it was a treat to watch people have fun and play games. I think it was because of the simplicity of the game rules. Keep up the good work :)
This game looks fun, but I feel like it could be better if the players were able to keep their cursed color a secret from the other players. Something like that could add an interesting bluffing mechanic to the game, like where a player could act like they didn't want a certain color in their stash to throw everyone else off, only to later go for that color near the end. Just a little critique that I thought could make it more interesting.
Who's to say you couldn't play the game that way? From the looks of it, the cursed gem cards are double-sided with the scoring sheet on the back. All you have to do is simply have everyone at the table play with that side face up instead of the gem, and there you go. I have to say, people are way too worried about RAW (Rules as Written) these days. If you see some way to optimize a game for your group, go for it! You're not breaking the law by coming up with house rules. In fact, some of the most popular updates to classic games INCLUDE common house rules IN the RAW. Games are meant to be fun, and you are well within your right in any game to modify the game rules to maximize that enjoyment in your group. (so long as everyone in the group is aware of those changes ahead of time, ofc)
I didnt think there was much advantage in pressing your luck so people just took cards almost immediately...that is something holding back gameplay...but it doesnt look too bad...maybe you can house rule that some way
she's totally felicia's kid, who took a time machine back to present day to prevent ww3 by finding an IBM5100. Upon completion of her duty she is now stuck here, so naturally she got a job replacing her mom as her mom takes care of her baby form.
I have some suggestions, observations, for this game. It doesn't make sense that you claim jump your own claim. It seems like it should be played to take a claim from another Prospector. There should be a different card for the Prospector taking their own claim without others getting a chance to steal it, perhaps called "Secret Mine," or "Early Bird." I also think that the cursed color could be hidden, only shown at the end when scoring. This way the Prospectors don't know or have a chance to guess that someone is going to pass on a gem. It could even be randomly chosen at the end so that no one knows what is cursed until they go to score, tho that would be a real screw you at times. Another rules addition I think would work is to let people hold their non gem gained cards. This way people can't always know what options they have unless they can remember that they gained them. This may be a fun game to play, but it isn't that fun to watch.

No. It wasn't a gamble because Becca hadn't rolled her dynamite yet, and gambles only happen when all the other players have failed their roles. Becca didn't want to roll because all the gems were red, which was her cursed color, so Justin just freely took the claim.
I slowed the video to .25 playback speed and he had a rotation of ONE freaking facet, so calling it a "rotation" is a misnomer. I call FOUL!! "Boo this man!"
If you listen closely, most Americans start to lean towards pronouncing everything with an e in it as i. Ten is almost tin, Shen is almost shin, length is almost lingth, gem gets jim, and so on. Watch a few videos with this in mind and you might start to notice this trend happening.
