Well done. The only tip I have is to work your way up to 220 grit. After completing the sanding with the 220 grit on the orbital sander. Drop down to 180 grit and hand sand it in the direction of the grain with a sanding block. Then finish hand sanding in the direction of the grain with 220 grit on your sanding block. That will eliminate any pigtail scratches left behind by the orbital sander. The 120 grit is going to leave visible pigtail shaped scratch pattern. You are totally correct about the wood needing to be "moisturized." Oil based finishes soak deep in to the wood grain.
Hello to your adult supervision friend in the background 👋
Also, you can hook your shop vac hose to your orbital sander instead of the dinky little sanding bag. Rockler woodworking makes vacuum hose adapters if you can not find the size you need at Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, or ACE Hardware. In a pinch Duct Tape is the "universal" shop vac hose adapter.

I had no idea I could connect it to a shop vac. The more you know 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nice job. I like the logos to show sometimes. Not on tile floors 😂 (they laid one tile in my kitchen this way & it bothers me even though it’s under the stove & shows a little). Like my Old Chicago bricks & a nice teak table I like it. Yours I kinda liked too.
    Cutest of cute pup outfits.

I totally agree. Logos sometimes do look cute. Especially on that old brick! It really gives it character.

I only have one tip for this one... After sanding for the first time, you should do what's called a water pop then sand one more time. Water popping is super simple, you just sand like normal, then you can either spray the wood evenly with water or wipe some water on evenly, then let it sit and dry naturally. Once it's dry, sand it one more time, usually with a higher grit paper than you used the first time (I typically go up to 220 if I started with 120, 180 would be perfectly fine... Personally, I always go a little overboard when sanding because I just love the feel of super smooth wood pieces... I go up to 400 grit on most of my projects lol)... Then once you're happy with the smoothness of the board, wipe it clean with a dry cloth, then apply your oil/finish
