In today's update on Iko Nini, Mwafreeka reacts to the viral video of Ian Njoroge who was seen beating up a Kenyan policeman over bribe allegations, but Mwafreeka shares more reasons as to why stupid Ian Njoroge will regret beating the policeman. Who is Ian Njoroge? Ian Njoroge is a motorist who assaulted and injured a traffic police officer on Sunday during a traffic stop in Mirema Road, Kasarani area. He was later arrested at his home in the Jacaranda area around Kayole, Nairobi, on Sunday evening and subjected to harsh interrogation. Where Ian Njoroge said that the police officer demanded a huge bribe that got him angry.
Why stupid Ian Njoroge's life will never be the same and will regret beating a policeman?
Mwafreeka expressed his sympathy for Ian Njoroge's uncouth behavior and termed it a stupid act. He warns the youth against such behaviors however pissed a policeman would make you feel, as the aftermath may leave you with internal damage in your body organs, with a chronic medical condition. Eventually, your life will remain difficult forever and even job opportunities will be limited, leading to depression and one might end his/her life. Mwafreeka maintains that Huddah Monroe and Wakadinali are youths lying to fellow youths, as such acts should be condemned.

    I totally agree!
"He who stands alone in the court of justice must prepare for the harshest of trials." He will face the consequences of police brutality with no one to save him now. I hear he’s being charged with attempted murder.
This was indeed a disastrous turn for him. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed." However, true freedom can never be achieved by breaking the law.

I remember advising a friend,if this guy was in 🇺🇸 he would have been shot dead only after throwing that first punch ,in the states assaulting both police in civilian or in uniform is considered as a felony and that goes with a crazy jail term and not only that …you have ruined your career cause it’s gonna be in your record for ever and remember here in the US before you get hired they have to do a background check which your crime will always show…no one will hire a violent person. So going back to Ian he could have moved to coast …Uganda for few months but huyu atakipata my friend…I was in the army in the special forces unit in gilgil…went clubbing in rongai and thought I could headbutt a cop and walk free, bro nilipigwa vita hadi I apologized..I still have marks till today and that’s how I respect them. So for Ian he will live to tell a story to his kids and grandkids.

Mwaf I agree with you on a few things here.
But you could have done a more balanced reaction to this video.
Ian Njoroge did not do good to beat up the policeman.
The beating up of the policeman, however, must be a sign that Kenyans are TIRED of police harrassment and extortion. And harrassment from any one in power for that matter.
Police should be warned that the older generations may have been used to police harrassment and extortion. They may have been used to being mistreated and taking all kinds of abuse without raising their voices of reacting in any way. This kind of cowardly behaviour of not questioning the police and people in power has made them the latter too arrogant and they believe they're above the law.
But the younger generations: millenials, gen Z are irreverent and will not easily bow to systems and behaviours that do not serve us as Kenyans including police harrassment and extortion. They will not take these silently unlike you older people like gen x and boomers.
All police must take this as a sign to BE VERY CAREFUL l while discharging their duty to make sure do so as per the law and do what they swore to do: TO SERVE AND PROTECT. This is 2024 not the 1960s. Honestly we have to tell the police that they are NOT above the law. And they CANNOT continue to behave like thugs.
I'm NOT supporting violence of any kind but police should know that Kenyans are tired and frustrated of efforts to oppress us in all kinds of ways including harrassment and extortion (which are also kinds of violence) and may lead to other incidences where a Kenyan erupts and takes matters in his/her own hands.
If you're a police officer you have to learn from this incident and behave better. You're not above the law. BE REASONABLE NA PIA WEWE FUATA SHERIA.

I beg to differ. I don't think Ian was right beating up that particular policeman. He was very old. Most police beating that we've witnessed have happened around thika Road, and those police are usually from kasarani police. They are usually unreasonable, demanding unreasonable bribes, and are, in most cases, harrassing/bullying the citizens. Kenyans are quick to condemn this young man but don't want to address or discuss the root cause of what led up to that confrontation. Police are there to give service to the public, but in reality, what do we see them doing? They're usually collecting bribes and harassing/bullying ordinary Mwananchi.

The police don't operate in vacuum and yes. We are the younger generation as you may want to lable us...we are not following the route you took. Law enforcer need to know the law, and the extent to which they can. To that extent, he stops being a law enforcer and my right of self defence kicks in. Our constitution is a transformative one and guarantees us the rights. You only lose them if you shy away. The case is in court and I don't wish to comment on merit.
