I like it when you said in your comment “very proud” he had every right to be proud...he was apart of some amazing “firsts” in the world of commercial aviation...the jet age and beyond also long before the jet age his airline was in its infancy...
From the 747-100 series to the current 747-800, the 747 will always be the Queen of the sky! No other commercial jet in a Million years will ever come close to the beauty, grace and elegance of the 747. She shows here real beauty on takeoff, landing and in flight. I'm in love.
I've flown countless 777 and 747. The 747 takes it hands down. I give it the edge on its raw power.. those 4 engines are so overpowered that they make it almost like a magic carpet...effortless even on that monster of a jet. And you feel that when you fly one. Its a fantastic 'liner. Forget nostalgia... the 747 is still flying. It's simply the all around platinum standard for airliners
I think some of the glamour from the 747 comes from the fact it was built during the heydays of air travel and so its historical context helped to boost its image. Of course, the aesthetics of the 747 also plays a role in giving it its reputation.
This was when flying was glamorous, when the stewardesses were glamorous, the planes were glamorous, and flying was the classy way to go. I'm glad I had a chance to fly during the '70s. I haven't flown since 1987. I'm not missing much.
TWA’s Royal Ambassador Service…The Hallmark of Excellence! The best in-flight service in the business delivered by the best Flight Attendants in the business.
The saddest day in aviation history is tomorrow....the delivery of the last 747 to Atlas Air. Brings back so many pleasant memories of travels on the 747. It truly brought the world closer together and made air travel affordable to many people in the world. There will NEVER be an airplane quite like the 747.
In case any have forgotten it was Pan Am that was responsible for the 747 being made. The pres of Pan Am wanted a plane larger than the 707 and went to Boeing and asked for it to be built and placed the initial order to put the 747 into production. Also the #1- 747, The City Of Everett is sitting at the Museum of Flight Boeing field Seattle Wash. It's in a Museum lot a block down Marginal way from the museum and can bee seen from the street. Ironic as it sits along side a British Airways Concord, the plane the 747 put in the museums.
1981...Singapore Airlines 747 from SFO to HNL to SIN. As beautiful as my destinations were this plane made me sorry the flights had to end. Nothing compares.
Flew them as a flight attendant for TWA and then Northwest. I was based out of NYC w/NWA, which was a small base for them. 2 intl. flights. Even tho I was junior, I could hold the JFK-AMS 6 to 8x a month. They weren't worth enough time for the senior mamas; they did JFK-NRT. We were such a junior crew...and every flight was a PARTY. I was usually able to hold my fave position, door 5. It was the best cuz on the long taxi out of JFK in the evenings you could sit and read the paper, eat your crew meal all in peace. Best part? When we landed in AMS at 0600, you didn't have to say good by to 403 pax. The plane was indeed Queen Of the Skies.
This was my husband's "dream job" within aviation...to be part of the flight crew on a 747. After many years as a flight engineer on the C-130, 727, and A-300 he finally got to be a PFE on the Boeing 747. Loved it!!!
i watch this not only for the airplanes but also the song i dont know why but it makes me feel like i am in an airport relaxing in a lounge with a cookie...
+HayastAnFedayi the 747-400 is still in wide use and will be in use for many, many years to come. Also, the 777's are still being made and hold just as many passengers as the AB380. The 777's are a classier airliner by far than the AB380.

What a magnificent video. It almost brings a tear to my eye to see those majestic TWA and Pan Am 747s. Fablous! You're right this is the best damn 747 video on TH-cam, my only complaint is that its not long enough! The background music is terrific, and its fun to see the domestic and foreign carriers that use 747s. Time marches on and this aircrafts dominance is coming to an end, someone will be doing a video like this where the A380 will be the airlines major longhaul plane.Unfortunately, we won't ever see those in the livery of Pan Am or TWA. I love THIS Plane. Watching the video brings back many memories of airlines flown (now non-existent). The Good Ole days. I am sad to see this great bird and queen of the skies that has made the world a lot smaller and brought so many people together being replaced by so many airlines. I will miss her. Wish you could have slotted in a Singapore Airlines 747-400 in the video. Great Job! Much Appreciated.
at 04:40 I thought I was watching a re run of Fantasy Island. Amazing. seeing such footage really does make me feel like a kid seeing those jumbos around and just day dreaming.. particularly the TWA with this chatlines.. Thank you for reminding me what flying was all about. How can airports now have so little 747? it's a crime!
Yeah, I scoffed at the title of this video, but ten minutes later, I was beaming with pride. In 1985 I flew a TWA 747 to Greece. Thank you for bringing back some good times. GREAT music, too!
Pan Am has greater horror stories from it's final years...but nonetheless, many of us who flew the two giants remember them fondly because of the impact they made. And I must say ..the coldest and best beer I ever had was on a TWA flight from London to Philadelphia...it hasn't been matched yet.
15 years later and its still one of the best damn 747 videos on TH-cam. Also at 7:49 the Greece flag with the Olympic Airways 747 in the background looks so patriotic.
Sweet era of civil flights for few paxes, superpilots and superplanes... Sayonara... This video is full of nostalgia. Flying today means to me almost nothing compared to the PanAm era Thanks for showing 40 years in 10 minutes. This is a great video!
Great video, I loved it. Good old memories, I enjoyed watching Pan Am 747s at my hometown, Rio de Janeiro Galeao Intl Airport, very nice take off from runway 09 (nowadays runway 10) at GIG. Excellent video, a must see for all aviation lovers and 747 lovers.
I used to work for PanAm Brussels ... I had the privilege of flying on the very first 747 out of Brussels to Amsterdam in 1971 ... PA090 it was... Quite an experience, especially as the retur flight to Brussels was on a DC3 from Delta Air Tr&ansport, a Antwerp based airline at the time ... Happy Days !!!
Equally amazing was getting to walk around the aircraft on a tour prior to boarding for our flight. Being from SoCal my dad would take me to LAX to watch the heavies take off from 24L & 24R from atop the hill at the beach. Those babies would sail right over us so close where you'd think you could jump up and touch them.........awesome!

Great video. I remember the day I saw my first 747 I was a kid working the ramp YUL to get money for flying lessons. We all had a rough idea what she would look like, and then in came a British Carferries dc4 or 6 with the cockpit on the roof the same shape as a 747 for a minute we all thought Boeing had gone back to props, then her ladyship came into view siloueted over Mount Royal. She had all the stickers of the airlines who had ordered her. We were all in awe.
Great Video, I actually watched the whole thing and when it was over wanted more. I was 13 when I took my first trip on a 747 by myself to see family in England from the USA. I am now 46 years old and travel a lot and have been since I was 2 month old. I remember the BOAC 747 in DTW where we had to take a bus to it because it was to big to get near the building in Detroit. I want to say that was in late 60's early 70's there abouts again to see family in England.
I could not stop watching it and I wanted to ! That was great ! I remember being 9 on vacation in L.A. and they laned one there and let people walk through it . Ilove that plane . I would love to live in one and fly to Rome .
Thank you for being part of this video Varig - Varig was one of the great pride of Brazil destroyed by the Lula government. I love the 747 for me the best plane ever built. I flew a lot in it. Now the ugly A380 will not get the charm of 747

Flew the 742 and 744. Best airplane that made my career as an airline Capt.
You were an airline captain and that's your level of competence in English ?!?!?
My dad was a TWA Captain and retired on the 747 in 1980. 38 1/2 years with TWA. Captain on DC-3 thru 747 very proud. Great video.
wow! Your dad must have had a fantastic career

I remember the BOAC 747 in DTW where we had to take a bus to it because it was to big to get near the building in Detroit. I want to say that was in late 60's early 70's there abouts again to see family in England.
I could not stop watching it and I wanted to ! That was great ! I
remember being 9 on vacation in L.A. and they laned one there and let people walk through it .
Ilove that plane . I would love to live in one and fly to Rome .
747-400 series is my favorite! Thanks for posting.
Thank you for being part of this video Varig - Varig was one of the great pride of Brazil destroyed by the Lula government.
I love the 747 for me the best plane ever built. I flew a lot in it. Now the ugly A380 will not get the charm of 747
I was a flight attendant for 32 years I recently retired I flew on many 747 planes ✈️ I always loved flying on them it’s a beautiful plane
Best and recognisable aircraft ever! I was on a ba 747 400 from miami to heathrow 2 yrs ago, I will never forget that even I can still remember my first time ever flying on a plane back when I was 3! :)
