  • Described as "the jewel" of the Kalahari, Okavango is a tranquil and isolated oasis set in Botswana's unsympathetic desert. Home to many of Africa's big predators and indigenous semi-nomadic tribes, the Okavango Delta is a unique natural resource and one of the largest deltas in the world. Today, it is an oasis teeming with an amazing cross-section of unexpected animal life. Fish, crocodiles, hippos and antelope coexist in the delta, and the lion rules this kingdom. This is a rich but rare paradise, isolated by the watery wilderness of the delta. But will the recent discovery of tourism endanger the beating heart of Okavango?

With all the garbage being seen in repetition on FB these days,.. I have found coming to TH-cam to watch these animal documentaries, to be so much more fulfilling.
When you're a mom, who's adult child has grown and gone, I personally, have become more than enamored by watching videos about the lionesses, and their cubs. It gives a whole new perspective to how we as humans complain way too much about our own daily lives and struggles, in contrast to how lions (and other wildlife) have to survive on a daily basis.
This documentary was more than relaxing for a Sunday afternoon. It has probably been one of the best I have seen, that gives a full view of animal life in Africa, yet with a full focus upon how the wild life has a sense of "harmony" that "strives" to survive. It wasn't "aggressive," yet it impressively shows the flow upon how all the animals live instinctively in their remote special place and habitat in Botswana.
Seeing these videos, gives you a sense of "purpose" to respect, love and help support the conservation in Africa.
Most of all, It's so inspiring to see us all coming together, having a mutual interest, upon watching intelligent conservation "curriculum," .. finding one highlight or the other, that captures our desire to continue to have consistency in following how the animals sustain their lives.
I just pray that the South African government is able to put a stop to the awful lion breeding and canned hunting that's an unethical craze there, while maintaining the tourism and game preserve, so the natural wild life can live in safety and peace in what is THEIR HOME AND ENVIRONMENT!

You have to love nature for the surprises it throws up. Last night I watched a documentary (Secret Life of Predators Exposed), where an older lioness with a broken jaw and unable to hunt and barely eat to survive, was helped for years by her sisters, daughters and nieces. To the point there they would not only allow her to eat with them but also held the carcass in a way to expose the softer more easily edible meat for the matriarch. In a world where survival is a daily struggle and an extra mouth to feed makes an incredible difference, that was so breathtaking to watch.
And then you see the contrast between this family of lions.
Some of us take great care of our elders and revere them because of all the knowledge, experience, care and love they've given us in our life, whereas some people don't bother to take care of their grandparents or parents at all and some barely speak to them. People are quick to say how sad and brutal 'nature' is but humans can be much more closely comparable to wild animals than we think!

    • @lisabryant2551
      @lisabryant2551 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

We are still savages, just with prettier devices... We cause more destruction than ANY animal ever could, in fact, I would say we are the most dangerous and bloodthirsty animal in the universe.
We have destroyed habitat after habitat.. And we have poisoned the entire planet and doomed us to death. No other animal will ever do such a disgusting thing...
Animals have, for the most part, a function for the world and its ecosystem, while it CAN be brutal, it's still a necessity to keep the planet going.

I REALLY like the wild dogs. They are so good to each other. They NEVER fight during eating, they take food back to the old and injured and always take good care of their cubs. All of them take care of the Alpha female pups. Really united. Lions can be Cruel to one another, very greedy, also very beautiful.Out of ALLLLL the wild animals in Africa, I ADMIRE, RESPECT and HONOR the Wild Dogs!.., THEY """NEVER""" fight for their food, they NEVER beat up their mothers so she can't eat, THEY protect all the ones left behind, the injured, the kids and even the old that can no longer hunt..., THIS IS """TRUE"""" FAMILY CARE AND LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER! .., THEY truly are COMPLETELY UNITED IN ALL THINGS! Even humans are not this good!!

Linda Taghon -I love wild dogs also. I also love the way they take care of the old,the sick and the pups of the pack. They stay with their pack usually until the next litter can help out on the hunt then they leave to find a mate and have their own pups. The son usually hangs out a little longer with his pack and then he too will leave. These dogs are amazing

If he pulled them both under a tree they would of been together and he could eat instead of running back and forth over and over again. Well I guess he is not the smartest one in the family.

These documentaries are very interesting. Thank you for posting. The only thing that gets in the way is the over orchestrated approach to musicalizing them. Simple sound design would suffice. Less is more. Let nature's voice be heard.

Nature, as here presented, is already highly sophisticated. It is shown as producing most various animals that, although enemies, in the end act in concert. Crocodiles, hyenas, lions, birds by their bloodlines are separated since millions of years, and still the overall system works. That is much reminiscent of an orchestra with its various instrumentalists. Hence, I absolutely like the musicalization.

Hey RW!! The start of my journey. The delta. Botswana. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the lions taking on the water here. So awesome. And cheetahs are beautiful. Dogs are plenty. I really enjoyed this footage. So many animals and really interesting. Thank's for sharing this. 👍🤗✌

Amazing images, it seems though the video image is distorted and makes the animals look slightly elongated .
Especially the lions who look like they evolved into dachshunds 🐶>10:1936:03
