You have been so alive these last couple of years & it is wonderful to see. But being able to sit there and be as honest & humble as you have been is just another reason why I follow & watch you. Daniel, no comment, no video, no nothing on the fact that the biggest cheating scandal of the last 15 years just came out? That there was literally superuser and prob even more accs exploiting a really bad software flaw in the gg poker software? Really nothing. Sad.

The thing that excites me the most in your 2024 plan is you not aiming for player of the year.
I've watched every wsop vlog you've made since you started 6 years ago and you've always aimed for player of the year and often entered events you didn't care about and forced yourself to play more.

4:20 Glad DNegs mentioned the rebuy issue! So smart. He knows he plays differently in rebuy events where he'll just reload. More importantly, his opponents know he plays differently.
Been a poker fan for over 30 years, played, worked in casinos where poker was played, watched loads online, the way the game has evolved over the years and you have kept up with it is testament to your ability.

The transparency is much appreciated. A lot of guys think because they are talented poker players that it is a good way to make a living. While it obviously can be, there will be downs with the ups. Having a pro like Daniel lay it out can be helpful to someone out there. Having a financial plan as well as ine for self-scouting and self-reflection is necessary. In a business where guys are on their own, it is something often missed.
So logical and promising for 2024. But following you closely in 2023 can’t but agree that bad luck played a huge part there for the results. Best of luck, DNegs, we love you and cheer for you. Can’t wait for a Triton debut.

I think you could attribute stylistic changes as well, most stemming from your 1v1 with Doug Polk.
Making major tweaks and adjustments don't happen overnight. Hopefully you can settle on a style that is most profitable for you, but also still the YOU that has had success in the past.

"Nice" seeing this. AP BlackJack player here and I was worried about your play this year. You mentioned most of the things I had considered to be the problem(s). The only thing I would disagree with is the "too many tournaments". Only reason being that aside from your "tired' or "don't feel like playing", if you're playing a +EV game, there is never "too many hours/ tournaments".
That said, good luck (positive variance) to you this year and after.

I've been playing for close to 40yrs at all levels, this is perfectly normal, it's poker and a card game that is susceptible to luck at a certain point even the best of us will have loosing seasons thats card games. However the success of any of us for the future is learning through these loosing seasons or sessions. We become better and will make better decisions. Having watched DN in most of his tournaments he doesn't make make mistakes and cards just were not there. Congrats on 30yrs of dedication and becoming such a great ambassador for the game. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing you at the tables in 2024.

Third, a question I've wondered about for years, and I have watched your vlogs since the beginning: Do you ever think the vlogs are bad for your game? I'm not suggesting you NOT do them!! That would be awful and I know you've said many times that you love doing them during the WSOP. But you give a lot to of insight into your game and your situational play and, just based on media coverage and other player comments, everyone watches your content. Even if you only give 25% of your reasoning in hand breakdowns, do you ever worry some of that may hurt you at the table? Just wondering. Thank you again for the many years of insight and entertainment!

random question. Do you include your travel and expenses in your losses or is this just simply buy ins vs payouts?
This is just buyins and cashes. All that other stuff is miscellaneous expenses. But he most likely gets paid all that stuff by company’s to play in their tournament

You should try to start with AA preflop more often. That will help your win rate a lot

He made that video series for us fans and to show us breakdowns of his playing. If you don’t like it then don’t watch it. We don’t need a handful a videos of his yearly recap. He didn’t have to do this video at all but he is being honest and keeping it real!

I didn’t used to understand your mindset as a player and it drove me crazy. Me and my pals would watch all the events we could and try to study and analyze everything. You and Phil Ivey were enigmas to us but we loved that. Now that I have grown up a tad I have become a huge fan of you as a player, representative of the game, and representative of yourself which I respect a lot. Honesty, humility, loyalty, strategy= strength and I can now see what I couldn’t before. 2024 is gonna be big for us all! Thanks for your transparency dude it’s a beautiful thing. I am sure it wasn't his own money he lost since he gets well over $4 million in sponsorship money as a GG ambassador. Nothing like freerolling in a bunch of tournaments... lol
Losing money is still losing money
How can you possibly not count all your bullets?? While you admit the 26.9% itm/cash rate is "inflated" but fail to quantify by how much? You count all the cashes you made regardless of buy ins and im pretty sure almost all of them or a vast majority were made with multiple bullets but somehow dont count it against your itm%? Thats weak sauce man and major bookkeeping manipulation. If on average you used 2.5 bullets per tourney. 145x2.5= 362(buyins)/39(cashes)=9.28% itm%. And i think 2.5 buy ins is a conservative figure. Sorry dnegs i have to call you out on that that "cash %". If a player buys into a $1k with 3 bullets and then cashes for 2k is that even a cash? You still lost a grand.
Secondly not sure how you can definitively say he "never does this" when he sells pieces. You never played loose or made a bad decision when youve sold action, never? Kinda sounds like salesmanship
He counts all his bullets. He addressed it.
Ive never thought about winners tilt but I think thats what has happened to me. I had my first great month in December and ever since I feel like my game has turned a lot more gambly. Not caring about every bullet, taking marginal spots that are better off folded, etc.
