Simply changing the DNS doesn't work for me so were looking for a solution and found this video, meaning my reasoning seems to be correct. Is there no Firewall or PiHole configuration that needs to be done to get the wireguard vpn to work? Is your VPN on the same network, does it do a passthrough?

do you see then in pihole admin panel query log the clients IP's from the VPN networks?

Yep you can see people that are on the VPN and it will block and it will show the IP address of the VPN client being blocked on the pie hole and if you go into your network connections on unify you can find the device that's connected to the VPN click on it it'll show the IP address that's connecting to with the VPN and you'll be able to see that IP address blocking stuff on the pie hole by that address

@@mcscapsuletech hmm ok, I have same setup: udm se plus pihole on raspberry. It's working fine on the default network but even if I specify the DNS manually in the VPN server and create port group for the iot network it's not recognising the custom DNS names setup on pihole. What is more strange is if I setup the pihole as DNS on the WAN port it stops working - no DNS resolves at all. It looks like the ISP is somehow hijacking the traffic on 53. Any ideas?
