Dwayne Hurst Will you be posting the link on your channel when it’s ready? I was gonna comment on your video and ask, but comments are disabled on it. Thanks man, this looks great!
Drew I just setup a Vertical image, like you did. Here is the problem MOST of us are finding.. Everything looks great, vertical works, etc.. nice... during game play, like PACMAN or MS PACMAN,etc.. the lag and delay is bad. I THINK the vertical force of the video is conflicting with the horizontal draw.. Meaning the game wants to play horizontal yet is forced into vertical. It all looks good, but the lag is bad. Anyone else have any ideas on this? I love the vertical theme and arcade only, but I cant play the games with this much lag/fps failure. Thanks
Blake Hawkins I built a vertical rig myself and noticed that the screen being 90 is very important and NOT 270 ... while there is a little video tearing its not as bad as the tearing when the screen is 270 . Check your screen and make sure your 90 degrees and not the other way so your config is at 90. Pacman will be the most obvious game to test on... at 270 the mouth will skip but at 90 it looks ok..
Man, the tearing and lag issues with vertical orientations in Retropie is killing my project. Almost every game I want to play is affected. I can't believe there's not more documentation on it. I might have to start all over from scratch and buy a damn mini pc for my vertical arcade - however, I can't really afford to dump any more money into it.
@@Zeffarian what screen are you using ? I tore apart a ipad type display and set it to 90 I think I'm running 1024x768 or 800x600 something like that and while there is some tearing it is playable... pacman,ms pacman were my biggest offenders until I set it to 90 and not 270 ... the mouth would not move correctly... donkey kong is good with the exception of the elevator level they tear a little and the springinese tear too on that level but still playable.... I had the same problem too there seems to be no real documentation on this issue... I did read there is a problem with the video hardware for pi that prevents the the system from doing vertical properly when you set to 90 the o.s. has to do things differently and does not take advantage of the video buffers or frames or something... its a hardware issue... from what I could read online.
Great vid and build! So what’s the verdict on 4-way vs 8-way controllers on these vertical setups? I mean if I’m serious about the old classics I have to go 4-way right? 2 buttons enough?
That doesn't affect the "dead zone"... The gap between the actuator and the switch needs to be reduced to tighten up the distance. www.focusattack.com/kowal-1mm-oversize-actuator-for-sanwa-jlf-series-joystick/ Also this is why Seimitsu LS-56 sticks are good for shmups and platformers
if you have a JLF already then the cheapest option is the oversized actuator and possibly a 2lb spring if your sticks a little loose.... if that is fine then just the actuator...
Great Build, I have added it to my emulation station, but unless i put the namco folder in the mame folder it does not show up? am i doing something wrong. But if this is right how do you hide the folder in mame menu? Hope you don't mind the question, but this is really an awesome image and really want to get it absolutely perfect!!!!
Do u have 2 bartops? This looks smaller than the one u made from Gaming Solutions. Definitely awesome! New theme looks great on it :) I've been doing alot of emulation on my Wii but should fire up my Pi3 some more...
Nice build Drew, thanks for the mention. Glad you liked it.

Is there an image for download?
Gd work buddy!
Exactly what I've been waiting for! Now to cross my fingers for a fully loaded vertical build based around this theme.
Happy Days!
Sweet, thanks Drew. Just what I was looking for
Beautifully made

@@drewtalks Please let me know if either of you figure this out.

I need this! Someone hook a brutha up with vertical only build for bartops... booyah!
Awesome job Dwayne Hurst!! This is inspiring me to finish my vertical cab. I hope mine is as cool as yours, Drew
Perfect timing! Just about done with my build and haven’t worked on software yet! Should save me lots of time!

so, maybe a vertical noob question, but it's a vertical theme, but it also controls how the game plays on the screen (also vertical)?
Seems like you need a tighter stick or an over sized actuator for shmups!
Brian Froeber I think I have it on 4 way

nice what is better getting the Seimitsu LS-56 or the adapter?

That would be my starting point
Very nice
So where is this found and what is it called?
Whats the difference between NES Classics and a regular NES emulator? When I use this theme there aren't any graphics for the NES or SNES categories.
Theme is missing Neogeo and PCEngine images for me
Drew, do you have any slowdown running games in vertical? I'm having major issues with my Pi 3 b+ as games are brutally slow.
Where can i this image? This is exactly what i needed for my cocktail arcade.
What build are you using on it

Wow. Time to do a vertical build i think :-) Is that screen tearing on the emulation station menu on the pi or just your capture?
hyperspin Cinematic Theme Template
So so so Cool..
