I just love how every person that listens to the summoning, reacts to the funk, its like the spanish inquisition, you never expect it.

Wow, it has been a while! Welcome back, Thomas, and what a great band to come back to! Just like Nightwish, Sleep Token is a deep rabbit hole. Some info on the band for you. Sleep Token are a masked and anonymous band formed in London in 2016. The actual band consists of just two members, with two other musicians joining them for live performances and touring. The lead singer goes by the moniker of Vessel and he started the band when he was visited in a dream by an ancient deity identified as Sleep ( actual name is too complicated for modern tongues). Everything this band do is in worship of this deity, hence both the name of the band and the lead singer's moniker. For recording purposes, Vessel performs all the vocals, guitars, bass, piano and keyboards along with production, and II (Roman numeral 2) plays all the drums and percussion. For touring, III on bass and IV on guitar along with 3 backing singers join Vessel and II. Even though they have only existed since 2016 they have quite a large discography. In 2016 they released their first EP called One. In 2017 they released their second EP called Two. In 2018 they released 3 non-album singles called Jaws, Hey Ya (Outkast cover) and The Way That You Were. In 2019 they released their first album called Sundowning. In 2021 their second album called This Place Will Become Your Tomb. This year, in 2023, their third album called Take Me Back To Eden. The 3 albums are a trilogy, ending with the final song on the 3rd album calling back to the first song on the first album. @@ThomFoolery1 One thing to keep in mind going into their music is to remove all expectations - each song is its own entity and a masterpiece in its own way. The best thing you can do for yourself in listening to them is go into every song with fresh ears!

Sleep Token records under Finnish label Spinefarm Records. ST's music is both dark and bright, production is awesome. Their music takes you to a dreamlike mystery world.

I would love to see you react to higher by sleep token! Its off their first album sundowning, and imo its a great track for what their sound is really about!! Plus its just a great song !
Their albums sundowning, this place will become your tomb, and take me back to eden, are a trilogy piece- for full context i would highly recomend check out their other albums before going into a deep dive with their recent album tmbe.
If not you cant go wrong with sleep token, they have such a wide range of sounds and genres they pull from, they aren't the "heaviest band" out there but they heavy in the way of emotion and context, the whole arch for these albums is toxic relationships, with a partner, themselves, and their "gods" its just brilliant!

I had a moment of emotional damage listening to Atlantic, and it was like nothing I've ever felt. In this one moment the drummer hit that spot and I got overwhelmed by a mix of emotions to the point where I had to stop and actively try to calm down. Fascinating. Last time I was invested this much was when I discovered Haken, but even then it wasn't close to what ST does to me.

Yassss! Sleep Token are the best band I have ever come across and the recent album is definitely my AOTY! You should go down the rabbit hole now. They’re genre bending and use elements of everything from rock, metal, RnB, trap, hip hop, gospel, and more. Even if you don’t like one song don’t write them off as every song is different and as you can see from this one they switch up completely through the songs, also don’t be thrown off by some of them being 7-8 minutes long either as it goes by far too quickly. You should start at the beginning and work your way through as they tell a story and have call backs to a lot of them. The band are anonymous, I and others know who they are but won’t reveal out of respect to the band and fans but the singer goes by the moniker Vessel, drummer, who is a beast is II, bassist III and guitarist IV. From London UK. As far as their discography goes they brought out two EPs called One and Two, then 2 singles called Jaws and The Way That You Were, then the three albums Sundowning, The Place Will Become Your Tomb, then TMBTE (Take Me Back To Eden). They’ve done five covers that I’m aware of. One being Hey Ya by OutKast, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, Is It Really You? By Loathe and When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. His Vocal range I believe is B ♭2 to F#5 and he has a wonderful chest voice, head voice and scream. I have never hyper fixated on a band like I have with these! Loved the react and Will subscribe and hopefully see many more. 🖤

I love seeing reactions of folks hearing ST for the first time! So their album is sort of set up to where the shorter songs are dismantles of the longer songs. So you might get a more pop sounding song or something very heavy and then the longer songs will have these elements in them.. Its pretty cool. I haven’t really seen anyone pick up on it yet but if you follow the rabbit hole I’d love to hear your take. Great reaction!
Wish I could go back in time and listen to Sleep Token for the first time again. Keep going down the rabbit hole my friend. You will not be disappointed.
Saw them live on Saturday at Ilosaarirock. Was totally worth the 5 hour travel across the country. It was amazing.

Heyyy! Sleep Token is mindblowingly good. I love this band. This song, Alkaline and Atlantic is probably my top 3 but all 3 albums are wonderful from start to finish!
