Practice and I can still only draw cats-
I need to say, I wasn't expecting to see the kind of things you have shown, especially the shapes and different details. I learnt a lot from this video, thank you so much!
When I lit the house on fire I quoted you -‘there’s no right or wrong with fire’.
Haha
I have watched this so many times and done countless practise and I finally finished a piece i have been working on for what seemed like years and the flame looks how it did in my head!! Really really helpful!! Thank you muchly!!
Thank this is like the best tutorial I’ve seen on how to digitally paint fire!
Thank you!
Hi James just got Procreate recently and discovered your tutorials. I’ve been self teaching myself photoshop and zbrush over the last couple of years trying all sorts of books and tutorials and have to say these videos of yours are some of the best content I’ve found. They’re relaxing to watch and I love the explanation behind every step. Usually the last thing I want to do after work is study but these are effortless I love them. Thank you, I’ll be supporting you on Patreon for sure. Mike.
Thank you Mike! Yeah I think art learning should be fun, I find painting and drawing very relaxing
That's one spicy fire, truly a godsend tutorial.
The first drawing tutorial for fire in all my years that wasn't using a bunch of photoshoo filters. Thanks you.
Glad you liked it :)
Head space meditation guy
This was extremely helpful! I have a project I’m about to start on and I needed to learn how to make realistic fire. I was actually drawing along while I watched the tutorial and I got it down. Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for this!! I drew fire digitally for the first time and it looks amazing thanks to you 🙏🏻
Excellent! You've captured the living essence of the flame.
You are brilliant. Casually stating it has a “life of its own” as we watch you creating the life with your obvious talent! What you do is not as easy as you make it appear. Did I say your brilliant 👍👏
Thank you lol 😊
YOU MAKE MAGIC SIR, huge huge respect and I appreciate for your tutorial from Japan
This was so easy and simple ilyyyyy
great tutorial I'm going to have to practice a lot to get mine to come out as good as yours. I took a screen shot to have something to look at while i practice. A JPEG at the end would have been nice but, I guess you were just mentioning it in passing and forgot, no worries once again thanks
Awesome video James :) You have a great eye for detail and seem to have a keen understanding of the behaviour of natural phenomenons like fire, light, snow and so on. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you very much! I am still trying to learn too :)
Phenomena
That’s awesome. I’m just now getting the flames. They are so pretty 🥰

Thank you as always :)
Great video, can’t believe 16 people have given it a thumbs down.
Best tutorials on digital painting. Great informative videos with a focus on how to understand the subject matter and paint more scientifically.
Thank you very much appreciate that :)
i like your style. realism without being absolutte photo realism which tends to get boring and look like plastic ;).
i enjoy that the strokes in the work remain visible. that gives it life in my opinion. and u are a very good explanator as well! :)

British Bob Ross?
I’ll happily accept that thanks
That is the highest compliment I’ve ever heard from such an offensively named account lol
But I have to agree with the Tide Pods. You’re an excellent teacher with a very calming voice and you give confidence to your listener as if anyone can do it if they just try 😁
Might be English and not British at all. Maybe neither but either way I agree haha
Who?
Wow a tutorial that actually helped me thank you
Amazing! thanks for sharing this tutorial!

Great tutorial man. I'm trying to paint a giant skeleton demon bathed in flame so this will definitely be useful. I forgot how the small blue notes are actually the hottest parts of the flame.
Excellent tutorial. Going to attempt to follow along to learn better. Thank you for sharing.

Very Nice thk u
If we are not doing digital, and say doing colored pencils? Would we have to start from the lighter color and go to the darker red, or would we be okay to do as you do in this video?
Wow-
Perfect! Thank you for tutorial!:)
Thanks, I’m glad you like it 😊
Great❤
Thank you
Awesome tutorial, loved it my friend! I’m looking at getting an iPad Pro for doing my artwork, do you think the 64g model is enough for doing and storing art or would you suggest getting a large amount of memory?
It should be plenty if just for art storage
Ty
My pleasure
Awesome will give this a go. Did you get round to doing a large scene of flames like mentioned at the end? Cheers
not yet but I will!
Wow 😮 amazing
James I’m new to procreate and the ipencil. Your tutorials have helped me so much Thank you! Question where did you get the grip for your ipencil?
It’s Apple pencil 😂
thank you your great videos! they are really helpful. Do you actually use a screen protector for your ipad?
I never have no
Great video - are you able to put the colour codes up? Thanks 👍😊👍
There’s also the flame brush which changes (lightness?) with pressure...I haven’t used it that much (in the beginning before I had the Apple Pencil, I just used strokes and it was pretty good but I dint know if I was getting the hang of it) but after I got the Apple Pencil, tried drawing freeform and found it hard but then I used the flame brush and now I’m starting to get the hang of it...just out of curiosity, are all flames random? Don’t know if u tried it but tell me what u think, if not, I recommend u try it out...it makes drawing flames much more easier
Thank, yeah I've tried it, but I prefer to be able to paint think entirely manually so that I can recreate the effect in other mediums too
Great video James! As always really nice work, you always make the learning process so easy and fun! A bit of a typo at the start, it says “how to draw the face” instead of “how to paint fire” but good vid nonetheless
Oh damn it I forgot to change the title lol, glad you enjoyed it though 😂
Perfect!
Thank you 😊
honestly I expected a rubbish video. Actually it's very good!
haha glad to have surprised you!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaas

One problem i have with drawing is frustration that mine isnt matching up

Thank you 😊
Are you going to finish drawing the skeleton?
Also more space stuff.
Yes everything in time 😊
