Got to watch it a few days ago and OH MY GOD I WAS INTERNALLY SCREAMING LIKE A KID SPOTTING ALL OF THE EASTER EGGS AND REFERENCES. I JUST SCREAMED WHEN THEY WENT SUPER AND DID THE SA2 POSE ITS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
People werent hyping up the post credits scene because of Amy and metal sonic specifically, it was because not only did they show 2 characters in 1 post credits scene, but also because it was a whole mini action scene like everyone thought it would show metal then end but no it kept going he fought sonic and then more showed up and then Amy showed up so like it just kept going and was insane
1:48 gerald was acting goofy with eggman to win him over on his idea for destroying earth it was a lie he probably hated doing it in his head so thats why it gets a pass they do overdo them a bit too much in some scenes but besides that they were great
After watching the movie I was speechless after, but the one problem I had with this movie was the way that Gerald died in the movie. I feel like the Eggman vs Gerald fight felt a bit childish. The two biggest highlights of this movie is Sonic and Shadow. I really love how Sonic is so focus on stopping Shadow at first and not listening to his team. But, at the end Sonic feels much more angry that Shadow just hurt Tom. Now, Shadow was headed perfectly in this movie and I feel like it’s a bit weird how Shadow was just full by rage. But, when Sonic was about to finished him, Shadow was like go head. Then, Sonic just doesn’t and then Shadow just becomes a hero. Overall, Sonic 3 was a great movie and I can’t wait for the future. The post credit scene was crazy and I can’t wait for Metal Sonic and Amy in Sonic 4.
For me the big reason why the Post credit scene was exciting was because with there being an army of Metal Sonics this could mean we will see an adaptation of the Brotherhood arc from Fleetway Sonic
I love this review, but my ONE disagreement is Shadow “switching up” on the moon. I feel like the entire time Shadow is unsure of himself. He didn’t WANT to beat up Team Sonic in Tokyo, Knuckles started first. Shadow tells them to walk away. Shadow asks “is this what Maria wanted”, it always felt like he didn’t really WANT to destroy the world, he just wanted to avenge his best friend. And once he sees how good of a person Sonic has become despite his loss, I think that’s when it “clicks” for Shadow, thus the change. TLDR: Revenge Guac
I knew I wasn’t the only person who thought of the black comet. I also noticed they remixed the theme of dr eggman from 06. It was also neat of them to keep the biolizard in the movie as a Godzilla parody. I really don’t know how they’re ever gonna top this movie unless they get Metal Overlord or something for Sonic the hedgehog 4. I kind of disagree with that Shadow switched characters on the moon. I think it was that without Gerald’s influence Shadow truly was a good guy. Like how in Shadow 05 Doom was telling Shadow to “never forget that horrifying image.” but once he’s not influenced by Doom it’s shown that he’s good inside. Also the moment of remorse he felt when he hit Tom. Also the whole reason the first fight in Tokyo happens isn’t because Shadow engaged GUN, it’s because GUN engaged Shadow. Shadow simply would have found a way to Gerald without hurting anyone but GUN forced him to fight. I think it might be the “honeymoon phase” as some call it, but I genuinely loved this movie and it’s tied for my favorite movie of the year. Overall I would rank it a 9.5/10, same rating I would give Transformers One
My jaw was dropped when I walked out of the movie. I did have a few issues as well but I did have one complaint that I think we can all agree on… Live and Learn should’ve played longer during the Super Sonic and Super Shadow part, right?
Sonic Movie 3 feels like a cheesy kids movie from the early 2000s had a baby with an over the top and epic anime movie,and it's absolutely wonderful!(Would've been more wonderful if Chris Pratt voiced Shadow instead of Keanu,like he did a good job but come on,Pratt was Mario and Garfield so Shadow would be the next step for him to voice every childhood character.)
The one thing that kinda confused me was Shadow's ability to teleport. In SA2, Shadow's teleportation ability came from having the chaos emerald(s) and using chaos control...but now in the film he can teleport without them? Weird inconsistency lol
Only thing I wish was the pace being better along with Gerald’s execution in the 3rd act. Movie felt to fast n Shadow’s origin could have been better explained along with how Gerald lived n why GUN decided to betray him. And wish we seen more of Gerald connect with Maria so that Gerald would feel more tragic rather than just a joke. Plus Captain Rockwell inclusion felt unnecessary n wasted since she barely was in the 3rd act. Other than that, this film is near perfection in terms of adapting Sonic lore. If I’m being realistic, Movie 3 is either a 7 or 8, but as a Shadow weeb, naw 11 out of 10😁🙏🏾. I get folks are mixed on Sonic but I thought he was solid, especially the 3rd act. Tails was just a background character, but I enjoyed how he’s less of a fanboy of Sonic n instead more mature he was when Sonic decided to go off on his own. And Knuxs, really wish Rouge was in the film so he could have a big role but I thought he was solid. Eggman arc was peak n I feel for Stone n hope he still appears for Movie 4. Gerald, he I’m mostly disappointed in tbr. I get why he was played off as a villain cuz no Bio lizard and I don’t mind him being goofy in the 2nd act, but I wish he was treated more as a tragic villain in the 3rd act and better death instead of what the film done to him. And Shadow, bro easily carried the film. While I wish he had more screentime, still whenever he appears, he steals the film. I’m still debating on whether he’s my favorite interpretation cuz there some elements of Maria’s story that are missing n if they added them for Movie Shadow, then he’s easily #1 best interpretation yet. Still tho, Keanu cook as Shadow n hope there’s a solo Shadow project cuz I want to hear more of his performance like I did with Knuxs (Tho plzzz don’t make it like the Wade show😔🙏🏾). And I don’t mind him turning into good cuz he did already shown his regret when he punched Tom (For mistaking him as Oliver Garden Guy) and was surprised that Sonic didn’t kill him. While repetitive from how Knuxs turn good, still I enjoy Sonic n Shadow’s talk and how Shadow brought up Maria’s line as the sun rises up. And the whole Super Sonic n Shadow scenes are peak 🙌🏾. Wish it was longer n not cut from Jimbotniks brawl, but everything from that fight was just peak DBZ n I hope Toei take notes lol. And ending with Shadow “scarificing” him along with Eggman was great. Then post credits, Shadow alive which I don’t mind but it would have been hype if we see Shadow unconscious and we see another new Sonic cast appear, which should have been Rouge (Would have hype me up) And post credits, agree folks overhype n glaze the fuck out of the 1st post credits. I have faith the filmmakers will cook with Amy cuz if they manage to make me love Knuxs, then I can’t wait to see what they’ll do for Amy. However tho I got some worries for Movie 4. Jim is the prime factor for adults to see the film so without him, who’s gonna be the new prime factor? And I’m worried about the budget too. Will it just be Amy n Metal for the 4th film cuz if so, 🤢yuck CD movie? I pray there will there be more Sonic cast cuz characters like Big, Rouge, Cream, n Team Chaotix deserves to be in the movie universe already. I don’t expect Sonic n gang move back to their world cuz Paramount budget but I hope Movie 4 will bring in 3 more new characters. If not, then I just hope Movie 4 makes a solid story n improves Sonic’s character. 3rd he was ok but 4th, I hope he’s character is close to Game Sonic. And hope Tails n Knuxs gets better roles too. If they do all of that, then I’m satisfied with Movie 4.
Without spoiling the movie, I have to say they delivered but also fumbled. They gave us a great video game movie, but there were moments where looking back I was like "oh that could've been better" or "maybe this movie should have been longer", which is my biggest critique on the movie. That said, it was hype, enjoyed it, and also Shadow ain't beating the Vegeta allegations.
