Many reactors always complain about the supposed plothole of why the old guy didn't go back into the machine. It was a prototype. They forgot to use poor people because they got big-headed. The prototype probably wasn't able to fix them. Or, perhaps the inventor realized that being old he couldn't reverse it or maybe he was too old to fix it.
My theory is when the emergency people saved him they broke the machine to turn it off and get in to save him and being old now he couldn’t rebuild/repair it and without his best friend and partner he might not even know how.
Delighted to say I’ve rewatched this series through yous. I enjoy the more farcical episodes like this one, I submit that this is probably the best comedic episode apropos character elements of the typical good v. evil topoi.

Cuz they trusted their genius too much and didn't check it- by experimenting on the poor- before using it. So they had the wrong setting on and it was also probably irreversible
I read a theory that someone wanted the cherubs to be kicked out of heaven. Whether that someone is in heaven or hell, that's still up for discussion. Still, someone wants more people to die so they can get sent to hell. The cherubs got in the way by giving people a second chance in life.

The Deer Angel is probably my favorite one off character she reminds me of a boss I had in life.
