- This is me singing "The Water Is Wide" Arr. by Mark Hayes. (No copywrite infrigment intended) This was my first solo in front of such a massive crowd. I went to the district level and was awarded a superior, and then I continued to the state level and was awarded another superior! I am truely blessed by God for my voice. To Him Be All The Glory.

@@anonymousanonymous378 my choir teacher has 2 crates of books and she gave me a copy of it and she gonna be walking around harvard high school on that day with the crates to give the right book to the right judge for the right solo or duet or trio

Oh yes! and good luck with your performance, state is fun and a lot of hard work!
here are my tips:
1. keep your body in mind as you sing, level head, raised rib-cage, bend your knees every now and then to test your balance out and keep your mind light as well as your posture. it is important to NOT be frigid and tree-like. move with the music but only slightly as too much movement will distract the judges.
2. breathing, mark your breathing within the music and really, mark your music up and down. be easy in your delivery and do not pysch yourself out.
3. DYNAMICS! follow the dynamics written and ad-lib where your director thinks you should. lots of this happening within certain phrases (especially the longer notes): < >
4. lastly, have fun with the musicality of this piece and the beautiful lyrics. This is a wonderful work and be honored to sing it, let that reverence bleed into your singing.

Thank you so much! also, I hope that you do well! here is a tip: make sure that you sing forward, as in do not project your voice from the back of your throat but from the forehead. also, steady breathing and an absence of vibrato allow for this piece to be beautiful:)

Any tips for memerizing and singing it for a solo with a cold
Well, a cold shouldn't affect your ability to memorize! so there is that, but your body is your instrument and you have to take care of it to sing to your fullest ability. memorize while you are nursing that voice back to full capacity!
very good singing, if you are trying for better singing qualities let the air support you not the breaths if you know what I mean.

My choir teacher was like “You can try Soprano” but like the “young” is too high for me to pull off when I’m under pressure. So I’m doing alto.
When I was young I could only be an alto but the thing about growing up is expanding your range, I reached 1st soprano after I graduated University but I still retain my low tones as well. Try training your voice by doing a lot of vocal warm ups that are made to expand range, daily practice is what will work best!

@@cosmicbloodmoon Never say can't! if its something you really want to do, practice at home. you are in a generation with self education at your fingertips! Its about allowing yourself to grow in range, not just sit back on what you know you can do. I'm sure with proper motivation you could become what ever range you wish for yourself! (also the only people that have the right to judge you are actual judges).
