Thanks so much for this and the final thoughts. It's why I pre-ordered it for Essen pick-up and... It's shaping up to me my game of the year! And perhaps at the local game night as well. In the group we have two copies and never enough places at the tables for all who want to play.
REALLY interested in this one. Loved your run through of this, and great to see it plays well solo. Hoping to either pick this up, or get a First Look table play at PAX U.
I’m can’t wait for the expansion with the tribe whose mantra is “The Spice Must Flow”. Another Tribe can have a mantra: “The Sleeper Must Awaken” Great run through. Very interesting looking game and the theme is intriguing.
we thought it was great at 2. less of the world gets revealed during the game, so some might prefer more players for that reason, but to us it made each session feel more unique. i don't think you have to worry about marking on the tiles... they're already labelled with the most important thing on the other side (water, city or nothing)
Tbh i think it is not quiet balanced and the end feels kind of Like a shut down. What good quotes s Analysis paralysis if the finale feels like a huge let down, and your machine feels like only halfway finished I and my friend played it 3 times now and we didnt feel satisfied with it.. Especially in a two player game: If one player is in front of you, you will have a hard time to pick something good because the things on display will not change, Sure.. you could always hope for a lucky pull with the citizens but thats not the point. Artifacts as well, during one game my friend just steam rolled me, he got 7! (2 small ones 5 big ones) and i only got 3. (He played Formica which is overpowered) (PS yeah i know i have seen a change in the optional rules in the campaign, but this things are glaring flaws for me that should be handled in the main rules)
we didn't feel that way at all about the ending. we found it didn't overstay it's welcome and we were racing to get as much done as possible. sorry it didn't work well for you :(
Woow 13 minutes before taking your first action, second action after 15mins... 4th action after 21mins.... and only 7 actions in the whole runthrough... not really rahdo Running style 🙈😅
i'm sorry you feel that way, but i have played it solo and 2p, and i guarantee you i have demonstrated what your experienece will be like while playing this game with other human beings... the kinds of decisions you'll make, strategies to weight, compromises to consider, etc. if that wasn't the case, i wouldn't demo it in solo mode (sometimes the solo mode is different enough from the main game that you're really playing a different beast, but that's not the case here) anyway, i've sent me copy of the game to man vs meeple, and i suspect they'll be doing some multiple gameplay of it soon! :)
Tastes are so different... I play a lot solo and love to see the solo variants in action. I am not sure if I like revive. It seems to be a very rewarding game, which I like. I am not a huge fan of "timers", they make le feel constrained (or just as if I am bad at the game) and I don't think I like the look of revive. So I will probably pass, there are so many great games... thank you for helping us find the right ones for our tastes Rahdo!
This was great, thank you! I always value your perspective.
ohhhh myyyy finally it's here!!! can't wait to watch this :)

Looks cool, but those player boards are huge! I’m worried they won’t fit, together with the main board and everything else, on my table. :(
Does this play well at 2p? I’m also a bit worried about damaging the land tiles which would make them recognizable.

Is this similar to Scythe?
i wouldn't say so :)

Having a random objective victory point card that is just so good for a specific faction is a sign of lazy game design. I really dislike this.
fear not, these are not lazy designers. all of the objectives work great for all of the factions :)
I hate when he does a Solo run-through! Because it doesn't show me how the game plays IRL.
