As an Aussie, I dont know why I get such strange satisfaction listening to tourists be scared of our animals.
Is this true? Are wild animals live together with people in the cities, town? It can be seen everywhere

@@Sasidelayed there are kangaroos roaming around in my area on a regular basis. But I'm around 30km from city centre. Not city by our standards, but maybe counted as city by other people's standards
@@Sasidelayed in the big cities like Melbourne and Sydney there is no kangaroo unless you go to a sanctuary. But in the outer suburbs and regional areas you may see some kangaroos. But the most dangerous wildlife live in rural areas.

If he boxed with a kangaroo then it would’ve been animal cruelty and wouldn’t be allowed today, especially in Australia as it’s against the law. It’s no different from making animals like bears, tigers, elephants perform so-called ‘tricks’ for the publics amusement.

@@unaswimothuti Drop bears. It's a sort of carnivorous Koala. They get their name from the way they attack, sitting on a branch and dropping onto their victim. One reason Aussies love our Vegemite is because it's a great Drop Bear repellent. Smearing Vegemite on the face and back of the neck prevents Drop Bear attacks, they hate the smell of the stuff.

Saw a kookaburra killing a small brown snake by smashing it on a metal sign in NSW before eating it, thought that’s was pretty amazing haha

As someone living in a large city in Australia, there really isn't anything to be afraid of. Most of the scary stuff is in the outback. On the other hand USA seems much scarier to me. Like the countless videos I've seen of bears just roaming the streets and people's backyards seems much more alarming.
Agreed. I've lived both rural & outback...most of the animals that'll kill you stay away from you. The US seems a much riskier proposition with their bears and cougars etc
Yeah. North America has big bears and mountain lions. We don’t have creatures that attack and eat their victims.
Our snakes are generally timid and unless cornered or provoked, are likely to avoid you. But if you walk in bushland wear stout boots and be on the lookout, but don’t let it ruin your walk.
Our most feared spider, the funnel-web, is found in and around Sydney.
Finally avoid swimming in tropical beaches in summer. Crocodiles, and Box and Irukanji jellyfish are abundant after summer monsoonal rains wash them from rivers into the ocean
yep, agree with that sentiment too. I grew up rural, and the only thing im really scared of, even though ive seen them a lot, are snakes. Get em when they're not cornered and they'll just bugger off, but I had one incident where there were lots of people on Christmas day and it had nowhere to go. Luckily ol farmer Grandma had the shovel and there's still a bit of a hole in our backyard where that snake was.
Bears (and I've seen vids of scary moose too) scare me far more.
Aussie snakes are far worse than bears.

Poor guy didn't know, but there's an ant which has killed more people than the red back spider. In fact, most Aussies don't know that. Jumping jack ant, it's called in some places.
I lived in Australia and Kevin is absolutely right. I always wonder how the Aussies are so chilled about it while I'm freaking out every time I go to toilet thinking there'll be a red back under the toilet seat.

We Aussies grow up knowing red back spiders have a very distinctive web and you get to learn where they might be.

If it makes you feel better I've lived in Aus my whole life and check under the toilet seat, although I do it because I had a spider crawl up my leg late primary school (was probably harmless but I freaked out). Worst is when a huntsman randomly decides your clothes is a good home and you don't notice until you're putting it on/ have already put it on. They aren't deadly though.
Also bites from redbacks aren't guaranteed death, had a mate at work who got bit, was paralyzed for a few hours and extremely sick but he was still back at work the next day (dude is a massive Maori built like a tank though). Think white tips or something are the scary ones, think it's their bites that dissolve your flesh and leave nasty craters+ skin deformation.

True story: Went to an Australian zoo, saw some venomous snakes. In the zoo, there's a rest area with a sign - "beware of snakes". Asking in a nearby ice cream hut, came to know a Eastern Brown (2nd most venomous snake in the world) was spotted near the rest area - but not caught since the resident snake catcher is on vacation. The zoo was built in their grounds after all. So you go to the zoo to see caged snakes and free snakes both! And the snake outside is more venomous than the snakes inside. Lovely zoo though.

@@terkukurpikat I have a similar story, lived in a tiny town so we would often have snakes around but this one time while we were playing at the park, one of the other kids spotted what appeared to be a dead eastern brown snake on the road and when I tell you this snake was stretched across the entire bitumen road, I am not kidding. After a while we decided to head back home and this absolute monster of a snake starts slithering away scaring the heck out of us as we walked past the intersection.

@@aduhaneh1057 They're dangerous yeah, but it depends where you are and what you're doing if you're going to get yourself in a spot of trouble.
In suburban areas they're not often around. But if you're in the country, rainforest or beach, yeah you need to make decisions and keep your eyes sharp or you can get into some trouble.
I'm from the north east, live in the rainforest/beach and worked in the country on farms and mines.
For the most part you just have to either avoid their territory, or if you have to do it you have to figure out how to be really careful. And know what to do if it goes wrong.
For example, there are few croc attacks even though salties are the most aggressive, purely because most people don't put themselves too close to their territory. I swim at certain beaches, not too close to river mouths, never in the rivers nearer the ocean. If you're going into the mangroves at night, you take a really strong torch so you can see the crocs eyes and get away if they're there. Don't walk too close when they're sunning themselves on the beach in the morning. The best thing to do for snakes and spiders is to walk slowly and look hard, and be careful if you pick up anything.
It's pretty common to have spiders and snakes in the house depending where you live, and it's usually not a problem if you are careful about removing them, but sometimes you can get unlucky.
The snakes and spiders aren't trying to kill you, if they do attack it's because they're scared or think they're being attacked usually. Cassowaries is self-defense. Crocs and sharks, well what do you expect.
Conan should do a special interview with Bill Burr and Kevin Hart together, with Andy on the side giving gold one liners.

Nah, I think he explained that one time, when he said that he wasn't afraid before, because he had nothing to lose. But now he has a family, he has achieved success professionally, got into money - it's only logical to think "yeah, it would be a shame to die NOW, you know".

Can't even lay in the grass out here. Bro when I travelled to Canada I found out how comfortable laying in the grass was and fell asleep so many times in public places just feelin' it out.
I so want to lay on the grass like I did in NZ all the time. Can't do it in OZ we have an ant problem at the moment. When I got bitten by an ant I was pretty pissed off. But I just name the Huntsman spiders now. I've had Steve and Andy.😊😃

My Australian great grandmother was bitten on the bum (bottom) by a redback spider when nature called going to the outdoor dunny in the middle night. She survived the bite, the spider did not. They bred them tough in those days. 😊

I had a chance to hold a Koala, many years ago- she was a Juvenile Female, and I was holding her Like you would a baby- Koalas have evolved as tree dwellers, and they have Crazy Claws, similar to squirrels but much bigger- as I was holding her, she got nervous and startled and sunk those claws in to my arm and chest and with added grip strength- took two handlers to pry her off me, and I wasn't bleeding really, but had some puncture marks and my shirt had some holes in it- the Koala wasn't even being hostile, she just got scared, and she Still tore me up 😁
We also have giant flightless birds called cassowaries, kind of an ostrich but with excessive steroidal rage. They'll rage attack cars in the bush (forest or wilderness areas if non-Australian) and/or disembowel a person in two seconds flat, and do not play well with others

I was gold detecting in a dry creek in rural Australia, and I was stalked by a big brown snake that looked like it had not had a drink of water for weeks and I was moving in where the water used to be... so scary, I bailed very fast.
Gosh. Just put out a saucer of milk for the poor thirsty thing. Snakes will go for that, which is why one should NOT feed the cat outside, or leave the baby nursery window open. (not that one should give milk to a cat anyway).
There's even a tree in Australia that'll stick you with hundreds of barbs if you graze it, which you then need to remove by hot-waxing.
Edit: The barbs are poisonous too.

The trick is to let daddy long legs spiders take over the toilet so they kill all the redbacks. Then you just have to make sure to always tap out your shoes before putting them on in the morning and you're golden.

Whenever I tell my wife I want to go to Australia, I get a video from her of all the animals waiting to kill me when I step off the plane. A recent one was a bird swooping down, picking up a poisonous snake and dropping it on a family having a picnic.

For those of you worried about our native wildlife in Australia, here are some statistics to put things into perspective:
The average number of snake bite fatalities per year in Australia is 2
The average spider bite fatalities per year has been virtually 0 since the introduction of anti venom for red back spiders and the funnel web spider in the 1980’s
In 2021 Australia had 12 unprovoked shark attacks on humans while America had 47 during the same period
Tens of thousands of Americans die each year due to violent gun related crimes.

One correction. When people tout gun death numbers, most people reading that think homicides. one person killing another. Tens of thousands of people do die due to guns, that is true and very sad. But, well over half of those (some years as high as 2/3) are due to suicide. They are not all homicides.
Unfortunately, guns are one of those inventions that can not be un-invented. I have a buddy who made his own semi-automatic pistol (actually, quite well done too), using tools he bought at Home Depot. he's made several of them now, in fact. A prisoner in Louisiana once made a rudimentary firearm WHILE in prison. to solve American's violence (aka "gun") problems, you have to solve the inherent violent nature of the human race.

Kevin is such a good story teller. It reminds me of our family reunion on my father’s side, i’ts the way my uncles told the stories and it’s so lively and funny. I always try to watch Kevin because he is such a story teller whether it’s over the top but it always bring fond memories about family reunion which bring joy to me❤❤❤❤❤

The kangaroo guy came out of nowhere, it was almost like a jumpscare
When you come here you need to be seriously afraid of two creatures.
1. Drop bears. Vicious koalas that pounce on you from their trees and kill you
2. Hoop snakes. Extremely venomous snake that grip their tails in their mouths, thus forming a circle, enabling them to roll at great speed, like a large wheel. Nothing is faster than an angry hoop snake
Just to let all the non Australians know when my kids were at primary school they had a special warning bell for if there was a snake spotted on the school grounds and to stay indoors. No joke, they had a fire one, a hide there is a dangerous person on school grounds and a snake warning.
Omg I moved to the country and I heard they closed the stairs of the primary school building “for the second time that week” because of a snake.
Most of our animals are cool as,
One time I was checking the surf and I laid down on some grass, I was there for fifteen minutes before I notice a grey Kangaroo doing the same about three metres away. He was just chillin.
The reason the koalas were looking at him funny cause he called them koala bears when they’re clearly not bears.

I grew up in Australia. At the top of a hill near the beach was a sign, "Ashtons Lookout". For years i thought Ashtons was a type of snake.

I'm in Australia and it's really not that bad as outside people say. Kangaroos are more scared of you and will move away, same with snakes, spiders you do have to be careful of though. There's nothing else. We haven't got coyotes, bears, tigers, cheetahs, polar bears or things like that. Crocodiles are probably the worst we have - they will definitely stalk you and take you if they can, but they are only up north and in the wild.

This is so true I'm not australian but have lived there for 10 years and let me tell you what he is saying is true! Lizards, snakes, spiders, crocodiles, and just the other day some guy got bitten by a shark in Sydney....bitten to death

He isn't wrong. Not that every animal could kill you but he is right about Aussies speaking about like it's nothing. Then again they live there so it is normal. When I went to visit my friend in Tasmania. Her family kept telling me about places and animals to avoid and to watch out for certain things. Swear to God I couldn't sleep at night thinking a spider or snake would bite me. Like they spoke about it so calmly like it was nothing and I was freaking out. At one point I felt my life was in constant danger. Like that's not normal. So for all Aussies Stop freaking out tourists. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's funny how complacent you get as an Aussie who grew up in the bush. I walk through long grass in boots and shorts. I've had brown snakes slither across my boots while out bushwalking. I've had a taipan go over my bare feet one day when I walked outside the house and it was curled up among our shoes and boots. I only went out to grab the mail 🤣 we used to get a lot of red belly black snakes around the milking shed. I've only ever been struck at once as a little kid when my cousin's and I were running through the rainforest on their property and I accidentally stood on a black snake. My brother come face to face, literally, with an eastern brown snakeone day when he was rock climbing. He pulled himself up to a good horizontal crack in the rock face and there was the snake staring him in the face. He was roped in so he jumped back and fell till the rope cut in. He changed his route after that

The Australian wildlife is not dangerous compared to other countries. Most wildlife in Australia will try to get away from you. Unlike other countries who have bears etc.

Bears don't knock your doors everyday, the point here is you'll find magpie, kangaroos, dingos, snakes, spiders, wallabies on an everyday basis in your backyard in Australia. It's dangerous for tourists visiting Australia, we're adapted to it and it's normal for us
In Aus we have the Funnel Web spider, not only will it kill an adult, it's aggressive and will actually CHASE you. A friend found one in her baby's room, and it arched up and chased after her to bite her. That's a true story, not some Aussie talk it up story to make us sound cool. I'm an Aussie and I'm scared of them. In north Queensland we have a tiny jelly fish the size of a fingernail or so. You can't see it in the water, but if you get stung, you're in a world of hurt, can kill small children. We have to swim in full stinger suits during summer. My best mate lives in Carins, there is a 4m croc in a creek 2 mins from his house that the council is trying to get rid of. We also get attacked by a bird called a magpie every year. They will peck your head or rip on your ear when you walk or ride past their nests every spring. I laughed when one attacked my 6yr old daughter........it was a pure Australian moment. It's really not that bad, we don't have any big land animals that want to eat us like bears or big cats. For some reason Aus gets a bad wrap.
