Hearing you get small lore-related things wrong pains me as a long time fan, but thank you SO much for this preview. I honestly can’t wait to dive back into the world of Dragon Age and this preview has me even MORE hyped, which I didn’t think was possible!!
The idea of showing a 10 year spaced game that none of us know how Its going to be (was delayed, changed from multiplayer to singleplayer, etc) with a "1 min companion trailer" (no mechanics, etc.) was a bad idea.
I’m so happy to find a comment section who clearly listened to the review and didn’t just watch for 5 minutes and leave a negative comment because, admittedly, the marketing has t been great but everything I’ve heard today I’m so pumped for this game
Nice video. It was a comprehensive and informative preview. I have played all the Dragon Age games. So I was always going to buy it on day one. But the recent previews have got me really excited to play it.
Knew pretty damn well DA trailers never represented gameplay accurately so i dont understand the hate spreading of the " fanbase" everywhere else and it seems like some of them couldnt care less about the franchise. Sure there were some bumps along the dev road but i've always considered lore the most important aspect of dragon age so i was already hyped for this a long time ago, glad that EZA got to cover it and bring in more details as launch gets closer 🥰Day 1 for me and hopefully it delivers
So from one of the other TH-cam videos I watched they interviewed Buoware and buoware pretty much said it wasn’t their call EA decided to show that companion creator and a few others afterwards which is why BioWare is struggling to get its fans back even more yes the art style is different etc but I think if EA would just back off and let BioWare cook like we know they can we wouldn’t be having this split community at least not as bad as we do. Either way I’m still playing EA silicon but I love BioWare the only games I was sad to play was anthem and andromeda so I’m hoping that I’ll replay this game as much ass I play me 1-3 and DAO-DAI

"As a new comer, I didn't feel like I was lost" This is what I am saying. I played Origins way back in PC loved it to death. DA II became more action focused because they need to cater to a much bigger audience and platforms, and now they changed the mechanics of Veilguard to make it more action based and removing choices that are just performative and not really helpful and enriching. This is the reason why I am okay with the changes even if I would rather want it to be Origins with its massive spellbook -- because we need more people playing these games, enjoying it, and then learning more about Thedas and the story. I am even shocked that a lot of fans favor DA II, and even if they dread cRPG as slow and boring they are forcing themselves to play Origins because their entrypoint to the franchise is DA II and they loved it. I hope Veilguard would be as successful and enchanting so those new to the series would be interested in playing the others.

How is the map design in this one? I really like Origins, but I had my issues with Inquisition, mainly due to the structure. After the prolog you are thrown into the first map, and it is just way too big, with markers and stuff everywhere and I felt completely lost. Is it different here?
OK so like....what's the deal with 3 non-DA fans doing this preview? Dragon Age is a pretty massive franchise: surely 1, out of 3, could of been clued into the lore/former characters, the 'Blight' (made it sound like they copied the Dogma one LOL)...step it up would you EA? :/
i totally aggree, i understand that it's good for completely new players to get a review from people that dont know the lore, but they could have had one dude that knew what they were talking about
It'd be really cool if the chick that for some reason was invited to this panel would stop interrupting and stop showing her lack of Dragon age knowledge
84-87 metacritic is my guess. So wild that every preview is glowing after it looking very very mid as the kids say. Hopefully they learned and are changing marketing tone leading up to release because BioWare deserves a win
Let me remind you that DA2 was very mission based. Inquisition actually got a lot of negative reception for being too open-world, so this structure might actually turn out for the better.
Honestly graphics look ok on a technical level, but design looks AWFUL, characters look plastic and cartoony O_o it's like Fortnite but with slightly more detailed designs On the other hand the gameplay does look really fun... reaaaally mixed feelings on this one, given how saturated the industry is and how massive my backlog is I think I'm skipping this one
If you are playing Dragon Age because of graphics, then this game is not for you. Gamers who have started somewhere in the middle of the franchise have played the past games because of the story.
The preview definitely looks interesting, but I'm still somewhat cautiously optimistic. Dragon Age Origins was a very special game, with huge levels of open ended game design and multiple intros and outcomes. It had the spirit of KOTOR and Baldur's Gate. Sadly, part two and three were hugely watered down and disappointing, to the point where the franchise barely had any identity anymore.
It's a shame that they used the Dragon Age name for the prestige and then used it on this action RPG with Marvel quip dialogue. On the other hand DA 2 was terrible and the first game came out around 15 years ago, so the franchise is basically dead, destined to be pillaged for name recognition that isn't even really there anymore.
Dragon Age was originally supposed to be BioWares spiritual sequel to KOTOR that they owned the rights to. The setting was supposed to be dark fantasy so they could explore the concepts of moral greyness as opposed to the “light side” and “dark side”, which is why they created the Grey Wardens to be their new Jedi. Just reminding people what we lost.
A dark fantasy spiritual sequel to Knights Of The Old Republic. Mass Effect 2 came out, destroyed RPGS for a decade as everyone tried to copy it, and Dragon Age has never been fixed.

i mean we know quite little about the quality of story, sometimes games take a while to warm up. Tf you mean masculinity though, have you seen the demon assassin and the grey warden?
@@teyrncousland7152 sure, I agree. My backlog goes back 30 years. Still, sometimes it's fun to get caught up in the zeitgeist and get a new game day one.
Companions look solid, story plot points look good, gameplay looks amazing, graphics are a hit or miss (personally love them), character creation is very extensive. The only negative thing i could think of is that it doesn't fit the DEI = DIE statement, you must hate that.
I'm passing on this one. Too many red flags. They also fired the entire writing team earlier this year. Just means it's wasted energy to get invested in the story. There's not going to be any continuation of the series, EA *already* made that clear.
Everyone that went to that big REVEAL seems to be singing the games praise? Which either means the game is really good or that everyone has taken the knee (and the freebies?) in return for such access and clout? Honestly I’m kinda favoring the latter option because the character creation looks goofy as hell and no one wants to address those BIG HEEDS! I mean the Qunari now look like Herman Munster?
Ill never buy this game, ive been quite unhappy with EA and Bioware both for quite some time and I certainly dont want to support them for changing this IP to be a far departure from its roots. That said I support you guys at easy allies and tossing an upvote for your work.
What roots are talking about? Devs said that for this franchise they want to do something different in every game. And that is exactly what they did. Origins, inquisitions, 2, like them or not they all are different. It is not like first 5 games were crpg and then it is converted to action rpg.
I just wish that you could have four characters and swap between them like the older games. I do not like the FF16 approach of taking away the "team" aspect.
I could be wrong but I’m fairly sure a lot of quests will have a compulsory companion that you need to bring and then you get to pick the two other companions. So still technically a 4 person party for at least some quests.
Nothing about a single thing that has been shown screams Dragon Age, and that's the problem. This looks like a spinoff of something like Immortals Fenyx Rising. Just a generic action game with "RPG" stuck on, cartoonish graphics, and a AAA price of admission.
@@eon5323 Dragon Age is the first game, a Baldur's Gate esque classic RPG. DA2 was turned in to a hack and slash to appeal to the lowest idiots, aka console gamers, for money. DA 3 tried to blend the two and didn't work.

And just for reference, I took a look, and the escaped gods are referenced both at the top of the website and their pinned tweet. -Bloodworth

Looking forward to this. Similar to them, only played Origins and skipped 2 and Inquisition. Feel like I need to play them first to catch up on the lore and characters.
DAI is pretty much the only one you have to play to properly understand what happens with the world.
You definitely at least need to know the story of Inquisition and it's dlc to understand anything that's happening in Veilguard since it's story takes place directly afterward.
You don't need to play DA2, just Inquisition as it's a continuation of that game.
Play Inquisition NOW
Bioware seems back, I'm happy and will be there day one.
I’m interested but hesitant based on last couple of games
I am a patient gamer. I wait. Sometimes for years. But if this game gets good reviews from both critics and users and on top of that if it comes without technical issue as complete product, I'll probably buy at release window. No preorder or day one buy no matter what. I see that they reduced the price 60 dollars in steam. They are giving these massive previews. Looks quite polished. They are trying the gain some good will.
yeah, agreed, and I hope Sten returns here since the Qunari are involved
Same, people needs to understand that we dont own anything to corporations for profit like EA, and they dont own anything to us, they are in this for the money and I'm willing to give that to them for something of real value. Wait and see.
CLASSIC BLIGHT, Huber gets it lol

How is the map design in this one?
I really like Origins, but I had my issues with Inquisition, mainly due to the structure. After the prolog you are thrown into the first map, and it is just way too big, with markers and stuff everywhere and I felt completely lost.
Is it different here?
They didn’t go big open areas with fetch quests like inquisition. Definitely more linear but there are some more open areas to explore.
Inquisition > Origins
IMHO

Yikes the first guy on the panel looks like a zombie that speaks , time to shave your head there bud
Everything about this looks so damn good lol. Marketing really dropped the ball on the earlier marketing material.
84-87 metacritic is my guess. So wild that every preview is glowing after it looking very very mid as the kids say. Hopefully they learned and are changing marketing tone leading up to release because BioWare deserves a win
It will be even better than Origins and Inquisition.
Loved dragon age origins, wonder if it'll feel more like that story wise.
Origins was amazing. Easily over 100 hours of content, and so many different dialogue choices and consequences.
Hopefully not.
Not very sold on the gameplay and the "mission" based structure... but we'll see... it's dragon age I'm gonna play anyways
Let me remind you that DA2 was very mission based. Inquisition actually got a lot of negative reception for being too open-world, so this structure might actually turn out for the better.
@Ammy-q4w well DA2 was absolute ass LOL... like, mission based maps and open world are not the only choices.. but again we'll see I hope it's good.

but it looks so GOOD, as someone who spends ages in character creators it's the best i've ever seen in a game
Honestly graphics look ok on a technical level, but design looks AWFUL, characters look plastic and cartoony O_o it's like Fortnite but with slightly more detailed designs
On the other hand the gameplay does look really fun... reaaaally mixed feelings on this one, given how saturated the industry is and how massive my backlog is I think I'm skipping this one
I will never understand the Fortnite comparisons. Fortnite looks trash, DA4 looks great
If you are playing Dragon Age because of graphics, then this game is not for you.
Dragon Age: Inquisition > Dragon Age Origins
And this will be even better than either.
I aggree it kind of peaked at origins, but inquisitions great
(2 was a bit rushed)
I hope Loghain appears!~
yeah. this new DA game is for new people and those who didnt old DA. nothing to see from old fan's perspective
Good.
What was lost then?
A dark fantasy spiritual sequel to Knights Of The Old Republic. Mass Effect 2 came out, destroyed RPGS for a decade as everyone tried to copy it, and Dragon Age has never been fixed.

I'm passing on this one. Too many red flags.
They also fired the entire writing team earlier this year. Just means it's wasted energy to get invested in the story. There's not going to be any continuation of the series, EA *already* made that clear.
Good.
Everyone that went to that big REVEAL seems to be singing the games praise?
Which either means the game is really good or that everyone has taken the knee (and the freebies?) in return for such access and clout?

Ill never buy this game, ive been quite unhappy with EA and Bioware both for quite some time and I certainly dont want to support them for changing this IP to be a far departure from its roots.
That said I support you guys at easy allies and tossing an upvote for your work.
What roots are talking about? Devs said that for this franchise they want to do something different in every game. And that is exactly what they did. Origins, inquisitions, 2, like them or not they all are different. It is not like first 5 games were crpg and then it is converted to action rpg.
lol More Dragon Age "fans"
These are devs just trying to honor the previous ones and the roots, but also appeal to new players, because they have to.
@@aceofblades6574 I worry that it will instead be "one compulsory companion and then you get to pick ONE other character to bring."
