Yes - really a neat / different sort of sound.
I would love to hear him on a Strat. (Hint - bring Jimmy back!)

We have one of these axes, same year, in our family. It was LITERALLY, a 10 of 10, until a couple of jerks broke into our house and stole it without a case. Thanks to some darn good cop work, we got it back! Now it's a NINE, but we are so glad to have it. It replaced my older brother's 1960, (bought brand new) which he had to sell when he started Florida State University. He bought the '62 back around 1990, and then died in January of 1995 ... I'd much rather he had it than us, that's for sure.
BTW: Probably the very first Jazzmaster ever recorded, was the main guitar on "Dream Lover," by Bobby Darin, recorded in late 1958, both pickups running ...

"Half the price" of an original, pre-CBS Jazzmaster is a bit of a stretch. I love your videos, put the pricing is a little out of touch for a refin.
On a positive note - Jimmy killed it. Incredible tone, and very tasteful playing.

I started grinding my teeth when he said he started stripping the finish

Some of the early ones got refinished locally ... I know of two that were done at the same time, back around 1961 or '62, where I grew up. I cut my teeth on a 1960 and a 1960 PRO amp ... When they were brand new ...

Incorrect about the switch up top!
If wired correctly with the right pot values, it acts as a rhythm circuit, which has a 1 Meg volume pot and a 50k (yes 50, not 500k) pot for the tone. This gives the neck pickup a darker, *jazzier* tone.
The Jazzmaster and the Jaguar both share this similar upper rhythm circuit. *It is not a preset.*

    This is not a 62’. MAYBE a 64’ but not 62.
Clay dots were used on the 62’ model until 65’ before using pearl dots and binding. 64’ was a weird year where they switched from clay dots to pearl but had not yet had the binding on the fretboard.

Eh, I was gonna say the same thing, but you really can hear the tone come through there. Still, I'd like a clean demo as well, but the tremelo was cool
